Don't you have hose and fitting stores there?
-
They are 1/8 th inch NPT (pipe thread). We can get Metric here, I find it hard to believe that you can't get US NPT fittings in the EU.

The rattle is likely the damper but doesn't normally affect the CPS function. The slotted ring is on the inner member.

YEAH! That's what I did!

Improvise, rig up something to a straw, anything. I don't even remember how I filled mine but it was not something to lose sleep about.

Damn fine looking car(s), I am turning GREEN. Welcome! This Buick forum can be a great asset for you. John
PS: having door handles sure makes it easier to open the back doors.

It only actuates the lever at the trans when near full throttle when adjusted properly.
Correction: The 58 Manual states that it begins actuation at appx 1/2 throttle. This is different than the 55 Manual. As it is not clear if we are troubleshooting a Twin Turbine or Triple Turbine Flight Pitch Dynaflow, or what yr the transmission is, I will now leave this conversation for others more intimate with Dynaflows. On my 55, from memory, there is always spring tension. The adjustment is done at the linkage on the firewall. It has become obvious that you need a shop manual for your car, it will answer all your questions about adjustments and troubleshooting.

Could you ellaborate a bit? I do not quite understand, what do you mean by wiring the lever at full stroke :S ?
The small lever at front left on the transmission is operated by linkage to the throttle linkage at the carburetor. It only actuates the lever at the trans when near full throttle when adjusted properly. After verifying that the throttle does move the lever at the transmission, you can use wire or a plastic zip tie to keep it locked at full stroke. It would be best to disconnect the linkage rod at the transmission before locking the lever at full travel against the internal spring tension.

Can't quite tell so... Maybe a little, but it is not so well to differentiate. But if you floor it at 50mph, then you can definitely feel the torque and
At any speed from 20 mph up, you should hear the engine rpm increase when to go to full throttle in Drive range. If you cannot tell, you need someone to operate throttle in car while you check linkage arm travel at the accumulator. You could also remove linkage at accumulator and stroke the lever by hand to check limits of travel and spring tension. If the accumulator is changing the pitch of the convertor, it will be noticeable when driving normal vs full throttle. Again, You must put a guage on it to test those function pressures.
As an alternate test, you could wire the lever at full stroke on the transmission and test drive for performance. It should be noticeably improved.

One question. When you are taking off at normal rate at about 20 to 30 mph and then floor the throttle, does the engine immediately rev up and acceleration improve for a few seconds?

Would a bad cam sensor cause the reading you are getting? A bad cam sensor will affect performance and gas mileage.
Note... the sensor is often not bad but the sensing magnet has fallen out of the plastic holder.
Barney, I drove my '88 98 for months with the light on and missing magnet, great mileage and performance. I replaced the magnet to get the light off and nothing changed. I could not tell any difference. That car would get 27+ mpg on the interstate consistently. I don't know what a "bad" sensor could do, it could be worse than no magnet.

A thermostat only "throttles" the coolant flow. If the system runs close to thermostat opening rating, ie: 165* for a 160* thermostat, it is efficient and has reserve cooling capacity. Once the thermostat reaches wide open, ie: 175 appx for a 160* stat, you have reached the limits of that cooling system to control the temperature under those operating conditions.

Once the temp reaches max thermostat open temp, you are done and lost control of system. That would be 195-200* for a 180 stat. A good cooling system ( radiator, pump and air flow ) will consistently keep system at less than wide open stat temp.

That gauge shown could be mistaken for a modern gauge available today, buy another one, in Fahrenheit for the states. Your choice.
-
After some driving, stop and raise hood, shoot temps, too late. It can only be done under load to be accurate. I believe 10* delta would be acceptable, less than that - marginal. 20-30* would indicate system more than adequate. DISCLAIMER: I have not checked my cars, only heavy duty diesels. John

Typical manual temperature gauge, filled with ether type stuff, ether leaks out and gauge quits working.

I uploaded 10 photos to my album, sizes ranging from 850kb to 1.25mb, total of 10+ meg. Click on add, wait to display, click on add. Easy. Did not get any size warning or notice. This topic is to transfer from album to post.
I clicked on "choose files" and it brought up album. I then clicked on 1st to highlight it then push control key and clicked on each one consecutively to highlight all pics then clicked on "open files". ERROR MESSAGE came up, "1 file skipped that exceeded the 9.766 total limit". I clicked OK and 9 photos showed up on post. John
