Hi all, The highlight of Gooding & Co's auction at Amelia Island this weekend will be the 1968 Porsche 907 Longtail, the first Porsche ever to see an outright win at a 24 hour endurance race - talk about important!   3. “The Duchess” comes to auction in outstanding, restored condition, and it is accompanied by copies of original historic photography from General Motors, press clippings, and newsreels of the era featuring the Windsors’ with their beloved Cadillac. Further confirming the car’s royal provenance is a copy of the 1952 New York State title, bearing the Duke’s signature, address at the Waldorf, and the car’s serial number. It is estimated to fetch between $500,000 and $800,000 when it goes under the gavel next month. - from the official RM Auctions press release. They seem pretty certain that its genuine!

Hi, The Duke and Duchess of Windsor (aka King Edward VIII and Wallis Simpson) had this Custom Cadillac Limousine made for them in 1941: http://www.paulfrasercollectibles.com/News/Duke-of-Windsor-Cadillac-offered-without-reserve-with-RM-Auctions/15471.page Apparently, its considered one of the finest Cadillacs ever produced and has been missing since 1952! Hi all, RM Auctions, in association with Sotheby's, has just announced its Art of the Automobile auction, which will be held in November in Manhattan, celebrating the role of the automobile in design history. http://www.paulfrasercollectibles.com/News/Art-of-the-Automobile-sale-set-for-RM-Auctions-and-Sotheby%27s/15048.page The auction is comprised of just four cars, each of them an outstanding collectors car. The star of the show is expected to be a 1933 Auburn Twelve Custom Speedster, which is the only surviving example of three built in Custom trim in 1933. Feast your eyes with more photos in the story! Hi all, I'm guessing most of you will have seen the news from Pebble Beach - a Ferrari 275 NART Spyder smashed the record for the most expensive road car and most expensive Ferrari at auction: Ferrari 275 NART Spyder sets auction record at $27.5m in Monterey What do we all think of the sale? Is that too much to pay, is it worth it? Also We have most of the top results from the Monterey auctions over the weekend in our Classic Cars news section. Personally, I'd have the Bugatti Type 57SC Atalante that sold for $8.7m at Gooding and Company, must more stylish in my opinion! Cheers, Joe

Hi guys, Just to let you know that among the celebrity items on offer at Mecum Auctions on July 26 is Steve McQueen's last car, a Chevrolet pickup camper conversion that he bought on a whim from a migrant farmer: Steve McQueen's last pickup to auction Personally I love big camper vans etc so I love this old Chevy, would like to have a go at recreating it at some point.
