I just experienced the same thing with a `35 Chevy Master. Problem was a buildup of hard grease/dirt/rust. I chipped, scraped, and sanded with emery cloth. It took awhile, along with some choice words, but got it done.. Good luck.. -

It`s a 1941 Chevrolet ornament. Looks to be missing the plastic insert and a portion has been cut off. This picture also has no insert.

The middle 8 looks like a 9 to me.

My first i thought was for radio, car never had a radio. Item no good, coil of wire has deteriorated. i`d never seen anything like it before.

This was on a `35 Chevy Master Coupe distributor. No mfg name on it. Says: Easier Starting-Smoother Running-More Power-Less Gas Item plugs into dist. cap, coil wire plugs in the top.
