  1. WOO-WEE!! Devyn Oh, there`s a Buick.
  2. You have to get the flywheel off. Remove rear main cap, then remove the 6 flywheel bolts, these are "thru" bolts all 6 have to be removed and can only be knocked out with rear main cap removed and crankshaft will have to be rotated, can do maybe 2 bolts at a time then rotate to the next 2 bolts, remove flywheel, then you can get to the top 2 bolts inside the bell-housing. Also before you start to remove the flywheel, mark the flywheel and the crankshaft so you can put it back on in the same position, it`ll go on 6ways, only one is correct for timing marks to show in the window.
  3. Lloyd Young did mine before he passed away, grafted in a Borg-Warner R-10 which was common in Borg-Warner 3spd speed transmissions 40s-50s-60s. Here is a discussion on AACA about this subject.
  4. Jim, it`s been a month since the original poster, whirlwind95, has visited. You might receive a faster response if you send him a personal "Message". This way he will receive an email.
  5. ?? I don`t know how my posting got here. I`ve never even looked at any Riviera topics. This statement was in reference to water pump mounting bolts of a `39 Buick, in a completely different topic.
  6. Great, glad to hear you found the problem. That`s one of those things that`ll drive you nuts trying to figure out the problem. Sorry but i can`t answer your question on using the smaller line. Maybe someone else will chime in with an answer. Tom
  7. It also has the 320 engine, 138" wheelbase, and cost $1695 new. If it`s been stored inside, which it looks to have been, maybe the wood is still good. Bad wood scares a lot of people off.
  8. Picture #6, one on the right is a `42 Chevrolet, one on the left is a `41 Oldsmobile.
  9. You might check with this AACA member
  10. Might try French Lake Auto. I have 4 bumper guards if interested.
  11. I got an email from him and will talk to him later today.
  12. I`d say it was most likely a 4dr station wagon(short front door), the 2dr wagon and deliveries had a longer front door.
  13. Yep, need a picture, or a straight on shot of the cowel tag. I do think it`s a 6.
  14. Actually i don`t think it`s an Oldsmobile, U.S. ones have a V-notch on each side of the grille, headlight high. Could the down-under grilles be slightly different? Fenders and crank hole look similar.
  15. Lamar, i don`t think it is a 36 Buick, grille is different, no Buick 8 badge, has a crank hole, missing the two outer heavy vertical ribs, not enough cross ribs. `36 didn`t have suicide doors, except down-under sloper, looks to be right hand drive. Front fenders(no whiskers), fenders look more like a Chrysler product. How about that trailer hitch on the front? Is that a water bag under the left headlight? Could it be a down-under `36 Oldsmobile?
  16. Dave Tacheny parts out `36-`41 Buicks, might have the trunk mechanism. 763 427-3460 m-f 4-7pm central time Here is a `36 Buick trunk latch assembly if you think it might work. Ebay item #223868052948
  17. Joe, i know a guy with lots/tons of Buick stuff(may have complete engines/trans). He moved from San Fernando Valley a couple years ago to Pahrump, Nv., just west of Las Vegas(not too far from SoCal). Once i hear back from him, and if he has what you need, with his approval, i`ll relay his contact info. Tom
  18. Looks like the pistons melted. What`s the car look like? Better than the engine i hope..
  19. Engine and trans are out. I`m fixing to start re-roofing my house(side-tracked again) and after that i hope to be full time on painting my `36. I`ve rebuilt everything and most items stored in the house ready to be put together once i get the paint done. Step one, was i had to replace about 90% of the wood, made and installed it all myself, this car is going to be brand new, one of these days. Tom
  20. Electric Holley choke, they`ll fit right in place of the carter choke. The bi-metal coil has to be removed and flipped over to open the choke as it heats up, otherwise as the coil heats up it will close the choke. These are 12v, but do work with 6v. I`ve got my car back apart after fitting everything. Still trying to do the paint, other things keep getting in the way.
  21. Your engine may be pre `48. If you could post some pictures of what you have and the engine number would help, engine number is located just to the front of the distributor. Picture attached has a front mount and you can see it has the side mount(4bolts in a square)making it a `48 or later. A 263 engine would also work. Where are you located?
  22. Dose the extension piece have the spring and "L" bracket to mount to the outer dust cover bolt? Also is your right side splash pan full length under the starter, and bolt to the outer dust pan bolt with spring and "L" bracket?
