  6. The tubes I used had metal stems about one and a half inch long
  7. I just started to use motor cycle tubes with absolutely no problems. I use name brand tubes I.e. Michelin Conti Dunlop . They are also less expensive than the "antique" tubes.
  8. Hey guys Thank you for the feedback you have given me . It is quite a involved design ,maybe why the Bendix type starter drive design has won . I suspect it was a inter corp battle between Buick,Delco and GM. As far as my problem is concerned or was concerned it was the adjustment nuts for The shaft that controls the brush movement. It now works but I still need to fine tune that adjustment. Any suggestions would be appreciated Thanks again Frank
  9. I have a 1920 k45 6 cyl Buick with a problem that I have is engaging the starter. When pressing the Foot pedal it only goes down partially . It doesn't happen all the time but mainly on the first Start of the day . I can get it to engage the flywheel By putting the car in gear and push it a bit. Any Help would be appreciated . Frank
  10. What is the present status ? If still available can you send pics ?
  11. Im also interested in purchasing the car,I am only about 2 hours from Albany . My email address is frankbv@yahoo.com Frank
  12. I have just put the top up for the first time since I bought the 1920 Buick Touring. I didnt see it prior either. Originally I was planning on replacing it . After looking it over I was surprised to see a top in great condition except for the black coating that is cracking and coming off where the top folds. My question what should I repaint the top with and whats the best way of removing the existing coating. I do have to replace the clear plastic panels on the side curtains Frank
  13. When I bought my 1920 Buick 6 cyl the carburetor was apart and I was sure that it was junk but I thought I would give it a go at rebuilding it. The cork float had to be replaced which was done and once assembled I followed the adjustment procedure thats in the AACA forum references. When I got to starting the engine I was surprised how well it ran . And it is still running well. I would definately rebuild the carb its quite simple Frank
  14. Dave Great camera, what kind and where do they sell them ? Frank Burns
  15. For 185/80r15 readily available outside dia 26.55 section width 7.4 at a rim width of 5.5 in
  16. The section width on a typical 205/75x15 tire is 8.6 in when fitted on a wheel that is 5.5 in wide where the bead of the tire sits. the outside diameter is 27.5 in, If you use a narrower rim, it does affect the section width about 1/3 as much as the change in rim width. What brand of tires were the other two sizes ?
  17. If you have an idea of sizes,I can get you tread and section widths (widest part of tire )
  18. Thanks Bill Looks like I lucked out again as my running boards and flooring are also a grey linoleum. I have another question, Did Buick paint the engine side of the firewall same color as the body of the car ? Frank
  19. Well, I lucked out as the leak was not in the core but i have question about my 1920 6cl touring car. What was the original surface of the running boards? Also was the front floorboards the same as the running boards ? Frank
  20. Thanks all for your quick response. The leaks are coming from inside the core and there are no damaged fins that I can see. The car only has 5500 miles on it and was always garaged . I am confident of the mileage and would like to keep this radiator. From any side there are no dings . Has anybody used a sealer such as Bars leak Aluminum or Blue Devel . This would be my preference if it has a good chance of working. I live in the Hartford Ct area and thank you for your input. Frank
  21. I just purchased a 1920 Buick Touring car 6 cyl and I found a few areas of fluid leaking from core of the radiator. Question what are my options in repairing it. Frank
