  1. Yes, cascade blue. I’m doing this one bone stock since it’s a well preserved 71 GS. Toughest decision was keeping the vinyl top.
  2. Nice. I always had hood clearance issues using the original equipment plus an open element from Billet Specialties. Do the Edelbrocks sit lower?
  3. Although I’ve not ordered any yet, SMS also has original fabrics. Who knew? I’ve always associated them with just great vinyl.
  4. Time for new tires. These are 235/70s. Thinking of maybe going to 225/70s up front. Possibly switching to redlines. Any opinions?
  5. Among other things, I’m a data analyst and biostatistician. So I love charts and graphs that are well done and I very much appreciate the effort here. These things convey a lot of information in a format that’s easy to digest and remember. This can impact real world decision-making, e,g, I built my extra 3-car garage to be 24’ x 36’ so, in a pinch, I could stuff four of my Rivieras in there if I had to.
  6. Carl was a good friend. He helped me with my ‘65 and I tried to return the favor by helping him with his recently acquired ‘69. He had a very gentle soul and I miss him already. His body shop is in good hands, though; his son’s. I know Carl was really struggling this past year or two. I’m sure he is In a better place now. Godspeed, Carl...
  7. Sorry, this is all I have in my files.
  8. I would guess that it was very uncommon, similar to Yenko Chevy conversions. Gas prices in the mid to high 20s and 70 mph speed limits not withstanding, the factory configuration performed well enough for most applications. My 69 was converted to Stage 1 specs by the local dealer and original owner (my crazy uncle) for pulling boats from Florida to Canada and participating in the Cannonball Run. I’ve never heard of any similar conversions. And many of us know what happened to gas prices and speed limits in the 70s.
  9. A imagine that works well. Can you show us how it looks under the hood?
  10. Smclassiccars.com. Says car is located in Mississippi but no price, so beware.
  11. I’ve never seen one in person but here’s one for sale on the internet
  12. Hi Mike, Chicago usually has more fun things to do but is way more congested. Detroit has a nice airport that always seems under utilized. It’s located west of the city so the drive will be easier. Dearborn, also on the west side, has the Henry Ford museum as well. I’d expect a good turnout, maybe 150 Rivieras or more.
  13. Here is a more typical yellow for a ‘71 from a previous ROA meet. I believe it’s called bamboo cream.
  14. They do occasionally become available. I think it was an option on many Buicks of the ‘70s. Not sure exactly which years are interchangeable.
  15. I think Jaguar sometimes takes their cues from Buick, e.g. 95-99 Riv vs. 99-06 XK
  16. Is that Evening Orchid? I was thinking of painting my ‘65 that color. Looks great on a Riviera.
  17. Yes, probably less bang for your buck (the car business is once again changing), but a more pertinent question is compared to what alternate venue?
  18. Yes, it looks like there’s an opportunity for some banter among those who register, expert or not, as the auction progresses. Last I checked, however, they only had a paltry 18 auctions underway. The brilliant innovation BAT introduced is adding 2 minutes to the clock with every last minute bid. Think how that would impact sale prices on eBay. Brilliant for the site and the sellers.
  19. So, it looks like Bring A Trailer has some new competition...
