OK, seems my profile name hits a nerve with some members.............oh well. BTW my 37 Packard - Six was used in a for TV film taped in Toronto in the 80's (well before I owned it) - The Mafia Princess staring Tony Curtis. Here is a pic taken during the filming. I call my car 'The Princess' in homage to the film.🙂

AACA Library Literature Sale! - October 4th from 4-7pm.
Gangster replied to Steve Moskowitz's topic in Hershey Meet
I plan to get to Hershey around 4 PM on Tuesday, (after an eight hour drive) so I would like to come to the sale. Can I park near the HQ at that time of day or will I need to see if I can find an open parking spot in one of the nearby parking fields/lots? BTW I also want to pick up a event program so I can do some planning in my hotel room that evening. -

I buy and sell things occasionally on Marketplace and Kijiji. If it is not a cash porch pickup, I use bank etransfer which has become the most common way to do small purchases in Canada. BTW don't get me started about US postal money orders, a few years I got one for around $600 as a payment for my services to a customer in US. My Canadian banks would not cash it, so on my next trip to the US I tried to cash it at a post office in the north Detroit suburbs. I had to visit at least eight locations before I found a teller with enough cash in their drawer to cash it. Just sayin..........lesson learned.

House For Rent Walking Distance from Auto Swap Now Available!
Gangster replied to Brant Mackley's topic in Hershey Meet
I agree, IMO its likely below market value to be so close to the action if you have a medium size group. I have family members who rent a large cottage with a similar number of beds every summer, they pay over $700 per day ($5,000 for the week) and it is mid range for a higher end cottage in the Muskoka are of Ontario. -

US/Canada Border Closed Until at least Oct 21 - No Hershey this year

It also has to remembered that the negative Covid test required to enter the US runs anywhere from $180 to $220 in Canada. Sad situation all around, I generally make at least fifteen trips per year into the US, not sure when I will be able to justify another trip over the border if I need to shell out the test fee each time. -

Steve is correct. https://www.reuters.com/world/uk/us-relax-travel-restrictions-passengers-uk-eu-november-source-2021-09-20/ BTW Canadians can fly to the US with proof of double vaccination and a recent negative Covid test, however for most of us that is not a practical solution for Hershey. I checked out Toronto - Harrisburg flights for fun, they were over $550 CDN. -

I'm fairly knowledgable about the border, the Canadian Border Service was one of my biggest customers during my working days. We sold them some very interesting technologies that keep a pretty good eye on what may appear to be unwatched areas. Just sayin... -
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the US land border from Canada will be open by then as I have my hotel reservations made already. Hopefully if the border does open the regulations are not to restrictive other than proof of being double vaxed.
