  1. This show was one of the best that I have been to. The weather played a huge part in the success, but the hard work and organization of the AACA members was amazing. We have used this venue before and the Wyndham management continues to go out of its was to accommodate all of the needs of the show organizers. I agree that the military collection of the Buck family was a great addition the the show. It always seemed to have crowds surrounding the collection. Thanks again to all that contributed. Dave Gray

  4. I have had a rather unusual (to me) pin in my toolbox for many years. I can't remember where I got it, but I do recall being told that it was to identify a REO plant worker assigned to the duty of standing on the roof of the factory in Lansing Michigan and watch for signs of an air attack during the war. REO was heavily into military truck production, so I guess that they feared an attack on the plant. Has anyone seen these pins?
  5. Thank you for the responses. I removed the top cover from the engine this afternoon and it is pretty much as you described. I could see how the oil dripped on the camshaft and then on to the lower bearings. Quite a unique lube system. My only question is, what becomes of the oil that accumulates in the lower part of the block? There doesn’t seem to be much. maybe 1/2 inch.
  6. I am currently working on a 1908 Albany automobile. The engine does run, but I don’t understand how the engine is lubricated. It doesn’t seem to have a oil pan or drain plug. It does have a belt driven drip Oiler. Any one have any information that may help? Dave
  7. I had to smile when I looked at the tractor trailer on the left. It has been a long time since I saw sanders on the rear axle of a truck. Dave
  8. I bought a new 67 396 SS Chevelle before I left for overseas. After I returned from SEA I bought a 67 427 Corvette Convertible. It has been a huge rollercoaster of muscle cars and Corvettes ever since.

  10. You don't ever want to work on the engine of that truck. one head under the hood, one head under the firewall and one head inside the cab. All that and the engine sits at a 14 degree tilt, making it even more fun if you have to remove or install the engine. Not the most user friendly truck ever built. Dave Assuming it is an in line 855 CI cummins. if not, it may even be harder.
  11. I have a soft spot for old Reos, Diamond Ts and Diamond Reos. I was a mechanic for several Diamond Reo dealers in the 70s and worked on many of these trucks. They were real workhorses.
  12. This is about right. Not a very tough job. If the car is still equipped with an underneath exhaust system, this can be as time consuming to remove than the actual clutch job. Small block and big blocks are no different in difficulty. I have done many of these jobs on midyears and it is not that complicated, Dave

  14. I came with several others from the AACA museum in Hershey. We brought the 1928 Sprint car and the Datsun 280Z from our collection. Sorry, I did not get any photos. I was too busy looking at the beautiful cars and visiting with other participants and spectators. Great show.
  15. Kudos to the entire staff of Hemmings Motor news for the fantastic job that they did in organizing and conducting this show. The wide variety of cars made sure that there were interesting cars for all spectators. This is the first year that I have gone, but I doubt that It will be the last. Dave Gray Mechanicsburg, Pa.

  18. Corvette did not use these bars till about 1958? Of course they can be added to any C1. Is this going to be a race car? If not, I have used slapper bars under the springs and they work great to prevent spring wrap.. Dave
