  1. I have one rally wheel for it, but money is going to force me (at least for the short-term) to settle just for wheel covers. I have no idea what this sentence means.
  2. Sure I can do a road trip one weekend. How much are you wanting? And is it possible you could snap a pic of them? Will that layout fit my car?
  3. Thanks to tunugent and his parts car, I now have a complete dash Horray!

  9. This weekends projects are to put together a better exhaust system. The one that's on it now is just something i tossed together quickly so that it could run. I'm having to learn as I go so I've been reading up on how to install exhaust pipes this week.
  10. And I still have no idea where the ones are for the back doors I've looked everywhere
  11. Well the one I took out was so eat up with corrosion that its terminals on the inside are totally gone
  12. Like I said I took it apart and the guts are still there but their so corroded you can't get contact on the inside and the little copper contacts are just green from corrosion.
  13. Success! I jumped the switch to the door itself and the map light came on! I took a look at the switch, I took the switch apart and it just disintegrated in my hand..it was all rotted out. But at least now we know all the wiring is good! Now just need to find 2 x Door Jamb switches for a 64 Electra (2 wire) Thanks for putting me on the right track Ed.
  14. Brian DePouli invited/reminded me that the Auto Fair in Charlotte is coming up next month and asked if I wanted to bring the car up with the other Carolina Club guys....now I have a dilemma! My car is a dump compared to those other guys....what to do! They will all make fun of me  oh the humanity! lol
  15. Ok if you turn the light switch to the left the sail lights come on, but ONLY the sail lights. If you open either rear door the sail lights come on. I searched for 30 minutes on both rear doors and could not find door jamb switches, so whatever is on the rear doors is not the same as the front doors. Do you know if on an electra opening the doors trigger the map light or just the sail lights. If it's only the sail lights I think i can fix it. If its the map light as well then the PO has obviously rewired something because there are NO wires going anywhere near the map light other than the map light switch on the dash.
  16. Great thanks, as long as I know what it's SUPPOSED to do I usually can work backwards. The issue here is that I wasn't sure what lights actually come on. By sheer luck the rear driver door would make the lights come on, and that's how I knew the back doors would work. I took the kick panel off on the passenger side and they had wires unhooked in there, I found the one that's supposed to be the lights and attached it back to the switch and now the rear passenger door will trigger the lights. My door jamb switches are 2 wire. Do you happen to know which light it turns on for the front doors? At one time I thought it would turn on the "map light" above the glovebox, but after tracing all the wires back it looks like it never goes near the wires for that light. I'm guessing it turns on the backseat lights as well.
  17. Had dinner at a friends house, he got his 73 Dodge Polara Custom out of the garage and we went cruising to the local ice cream shop. We fit 8 people in 2 cars VERY VERY comfortably. Car did great.
  18. Today's fixes, fixed the wiring so when you open either of the rear doors the courtesy lights come on. Fixed the cigarette lighter on the front dash so you didn't just have a loose wire hanging down near your legs (always exciting) I can't find nothing in the book about the courtesy lights in the front of the car. If you were getting into the car at night how in the heck are you supposed to see? I have the back ones working fine now on door open, but what do the front people do? You can turn on the courtesy light above the glove box manually by a switch but that's not very convient.
  19. Has anyone ever used a Redi-Rad, now that i have the radio working again I wanted to see about getting this going. RediRad Classic Car AM and FM radio adapter- MP3/Satellite Radio to AM or FM band Looks fairly simple so I don't forsee too many issues with it, but was just curious. Also how can I tell if my car is a negative or positive ground? I looked in the manual but couldn't find anything
  20. Just poking my head into the subforums. Was curious what a reatta was as I've never seen one, they are pretty cute. If I could get one cheap I'd trade in my mini cooper Maybe one day!
  21. My next car will be Reatta their so cute. Just gotta find one that's not a zillion dollars.

Just to offer my 2 cents. I learned this because I also have an 85 Corvette C4 and all cars made before 1996 use ODB1 connectors. After 1996 they use ODB2 connectors, if you went to AutoZone and bought a scan tool, they will all be ODB2 connectors (or so I've seen) it's a totally different plug and will not fit your ODB1. You can look here and build your own cable WinALDL - 160 baud ALDL reader Or you can look here and order you a cable. ALDL OBD1 OBD cable OBDI OBD2 engine codes I would suggest this one. OBD Diagnostics, Inc. - ALDL (GM OBD1) Cable with 12 pin Connector As most modern laptops will not have a parallel port and this cable will give you the 5V you need to power it as USB ports have power. Make sure you check the chart on their page to make double sure it fits your car. I know it works great on my 85 Vette.
  23. Question for ya'll, especially people that have owned a 64 or have seen one at shows. As you can see the interior is red, and I think we've all come to the conclusion that it is not factory. If I wanted to refresh some of the parts where in the WORLD can I find red door panels and a dash for this thing? Did the PO somehow paint the originals (doubtful as it doesn't look that way) and how did he find a red dash. I even have red kick panels and if you crawl under the dash the access doors are red as well. I suspect that the original owner bought an aftermarket kit or had something done at the dealer in the 60s, it's not a cheap spray paint job. I don't want to change the red ( i love that part of it ) the drivers door panel needs some love as it's def seen the most use over the years, but I'm VERY scared to clean it or do anything to it because if it gets screwed up I have no fallback plan. Thoughts?
  24. I want my car to look like this someday. 1965 BUICK ELECTRA 225
  25. Just for giggles here are some cars in the Charlotte area that I have seen on CL during my searches. Is this car really worth 5300? It looks like it's been road hard and put up wet. 1956 Buick Century Car This price is not bad. Needs a ton of work tho. 1955 Buick Special 4dr project This ole girl might be ready to retire 1956 BUICK 2 DR
