  1. Hi Zach, I am a friend of Jeff’s in NS & I have a 1927 Pontiac coupe. I have a spare motor with a set of standard pistons… I hope I never need to swap my motor, but If I do… the set of pistons I have fit that motor. The motor in the car is running 30 thou oversize ARIAS pistons. I have to move a car and get up into the attic to see if there are other pistons ( I don’t remember if there are extra pistons. ) I will try to get up there this week. Keep in mind I live north of the border and free trade is very expensive if the shipping costs are any indication. I really don’t want to sell the set of 6 ( but let me check for other pistons ) & I will get back to you. Ian
  2. Hello, Happy new year! Are these Gabriel snubbers still available? Where are you located? I am in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia Canada. I am always looking for parts available North of the border for obvious shipping reasons my email address is ian01@ns.sympatico.ca Thank you
  3. Thanks Dave, I will keep 'fishing' for the right style of cowl or 'dash' plate. I will try toe buy/sell forum. Ian
  4. Hi Perry, I have seen pictures of several original 1927 Pontiac s with the raised letter tin' cowl plate. It is riveted on to the firewall under the hood on the left side of the car. It says " FISHER BODY CORP. DETROIT MICH. it has a JOB No and a BODY No. approx 4 inches wide x 2 inches high. These cars did not have brass plates and are not like Chevy or Ford plates i have seen in catalogs. I will keep looking for the right style plate or someone who can make me one, Thanks for the information. Ian
  5. Hi, I am midway through restoring a 1927 Pontiac Landau coupe that my father purchased out of a field in Cornwall, Ontario in 1965. The Fisher Body cowl plate and the VIN tag off the rear frame cross member were stripped when he bought the car. Does anyone know where I could get a reproduction cowl plate made to ' fill a blank ' on the car? I realize the number will be made up or copied from a scrapped car, but it will look better with the plate. I think I can make the brass VIN tag, but the raised letter cowl plate is more difficult without the punch press used. Thanks

  7. Hello Joe, I am on the West coaast today. Best of luck with the paint and upholstery. Was the wood palce in Penn State called Oak Bows in Chambersberg, PA, man named Rick.
  8. Joe, The search goes on. I have found a lead in Waterdown, Ontario & I met a local car guy who is restoring a '31 Chevy 2 door sedan with similar wood issues. He is a keen restorer & will help me get off on the right foot. Have you ever seen a GOOD picture of the trunk lid hinges on a '27 Pontiac coupe? This is a bit of a mystery to me. I am also searching for information of how a top was installed on these cars where fabric covered the whole area above the mid belt
  9. Hello Joe, I am keeping my fingers crossed that you find the ad in Smoke Signals & I am waiting to hear from Jim @ autowood & the POCI tech advisor in NC. I went to a local antique car club show & shine today. There were only 5 pre war cars on display, 4 Chevy sedans between 29 and 34 and a 37 Packard. 1 of the 29 Chevys was un restored ( no fenders, no top or upholstery), so I took some pictures. There was no one there with the car, so I didn't get any additional info. I will track down the owner through the club. Thanks for your help, I truly appreciate it. Cheers, Ian in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia "Home of Canada's East coast Navy".
  10. Joe, Thanks again for the information. I will go back to Jim @ autowood to see if he remembers the Pontiac specialist in Penn he set you up with. As you said, even if he is out of production he may be willing to share information. I will also look up the Hemmings lead. I am waiting for info from POCI's tech dvisor program as well.
  11. Thank you Joe, I have already 'talked' to Jim @ autowood in Hanna, indiana. He said he has nothing & told me to check Chris on Cars @ Classic Wood. So far nothing. Do you have a contact for this Pontiac specialist? Jim said Pontiac & Chevy bodies were quite different. Thanks for your help Ian Mc up in Canada.
  12. I have taken over the restoration of Dad's 1927 Pontiac coupe & I need some help! Dad bought the car in 1965 & over the years did a 'from the ground up' - "bolt off" restoration. The chassis is done, motor rebuilt, drive train assembled, new sills, floor boards, hinge & lock pillars were made & the fenders & splash aprons are painted. I am building the body & trying to finish the wood replacement. The side rails for the roof were gone along with the wood around the back window area. Does anyone know where I can get new wood or perhaps drawings of the missing body pieces? Pictures of a vehicle with the top & upholstery removed would be a great reference, at least I could see what has to be made. I also want to look at some original pictures of the fit for the doors & trunk lid, are they flush or do they over lap the cowl and rear quarter panels. Looking at what I have I think the doors overlap the body panels. After I get the body together I will be shopping for a top & upholstery kit. Any pictures, information or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Ian Mc
