Car was bought by Ernie in 1957 for $300 from an estate sale in Winona MN.  Winona has a great archive of local newspapers at the Winona Library, with perseverance you could most likely find the auction bill.

 

The hood ornament was broken off when Ernie got the Hupp, he made a new one by hand.  He chrome plated the  hub caps and the new hood ornament.

 

Ernie drove the Hupp around Rushford in the 1960s but it has not been out in years.

Thanks to you both! Once I get the car home and can look it over in more detail I'll definitely start a thread.

 

Speaking with the auction company they did have some paperwork with the car including documentation that it had been in Winona for some time, I guess before Ernie acquired it, but what specifically it amounts to I have yet to see.

I realize things may still be fluid, but can anyone confirm that the Grand National will be open only to AACA members? That excludes current members’ family attending as spectators?

Did you end up getting the car? It is certainly a first-series Advanced Eight club sedan. I have a second-series '32 Advanced Eight victoria I'm working on recommissioning. Where did you find this one?
