Here are all the different Maxwell hubcaps I have. Some are similar but may have different size threads or heights and some have slightly different lettering stampings as well. There is at least one style I’m aware of that I don’t have and it’s a wire wheel cap with the capital M logo in the middle.

I agree a continuously updating website would be the best way to publicly compile all the information and allow people to submit detailed information. I do like the format of the American emblems website and I may be able to do something similar. There use to be a hubcap collector website where you could upload your own pictures and have visitors comment on each picture but the man running it stopped collecting and let the domain expire but luckily I was able to save all the photos that people had submitted before the website shut down for good.

For this thread I suppose if anyone has anything that they feel may be considered uncommon or unusual, they could share a picture but I may need to do separate threads focusing in on specific manufacturers to best compile all the variations. The very rare car brands seem to usually only have one or 2 styles of caps since they were only around 1-3 years but some of the higher production brands have a lot of slight variations from different years, models and even the factories they were assembled in. Studebaker for example, I have discovered 50+ different styles of hubcap up to 1930 alone!

Hello antique car enthusiast! I have been collecting antique hub caps for over 15 years now and over the past few years I have been trying to document in a catalog all the different styles, sizes and types of threaded hubcaps from 1890’s-1930’s cars, trucks, trailers and machinery. So far I have been able to collect pictures of almost 4000 different caps from over 1000 different manufacturers as well as aftermarket accessory and replacement hubcaps. I have cataloged pictures of hubcaps from other collectors, various auctions and others found on the internet and wanted to create this forum for people who are collectors or may just have interesting antique hubcaps in their possession or even on their vehicles to keep the catalog growing and for others to see and enjoy! My goal is to eventually have a public catalog with all the different styles and sizes to give collectors a good reference and for those restoring automobiles to have the information needed to obtain the correct hubcap or to have the correct dimensions to have them manufactured if originals are unobtainable. So please share some pictures of what you have! Below are some various pictures from my personal collection of over 1400 different hubcaps consisting of over 425 different manufacturers.

I am in need of a Houk #5 wire wheel hub nut for a 1917 Detroit Electric. It needs to be a left side cap made from cast aluminum (not brass) with the slightly shorter removal hex with beveled edges as shown in picture. A missing or non-matching emblem is fine as I already have the correct emblem. Let me know what you got! Thanks.

Can anyone identify these grease caps ?

Do you have any additional pictures of the side and back of the smaller F hubcap? I have never seen that cap before myself but I know a lot of collectors. -
These are definitely highwheeler hubcaps. I have an original early 1900’s Schacht highwheeler hubcap that is the same measurements with the raised square in the center. The only difference is that mine has the lettering.

Here are 2 styles of Dixie hubcaps that I’m aware of. Yours being non-threaded with the 3 clips definitely suggests possibly a baby buggy, lawn mower or wagon of some sort. Probably 1950’s or 1960’s.

For sale is a rare hubcap for a 1933 Auburn Model 12-165 with wood wheels. Dayton wire wheels were the wheel of choice on a vast majority Auburns in 1933 which is why this wood wheel hubcap is seldom seen. This is a very nice used hubcap with some pitting in the chrome but no cracks or dents. $120 obo.

For sale is a new old stock hubcap for a 1930 Desoto CK 6 cylinder model with wire wheels. This is a factory plated brass over steel hubcap and not an aluminum replacement. The overall diameter is 7 1/4” with a 6 1/2” clip diameter. This hubcap was not used but it does have some surface scratches from years of storage. $120 obo.

This is an original Studebaker hubcap for Big Six models in 1919-1921. There was an aftermarket version of this cap had a more condensed 6 triangle design painted red with a black and sometimes red painted frame around it. The original caps have the black triangles that go to the edge of the removal hex with no frame and also have a black pin stripe on the very edge of the cap.

I would be interested in this aftermarket replacement cap. I’m trying to collect all the variations.

I will take this if still available

AGMCO stands for aluminum goods manufacturing company which was the primary manufacturer of most OEM pressed aluminum hubcaps from the mid to late 1920’s.- 1 reply

For sale or trade is an aluminum knock off style gas cap from a 1920’s DuPont automobile. I’m not sure of all the years or models this was used but I have seen it on a 1929 Model G. I’m asking $500 obo or I would trade for a nice or a few nice pre 1930 threaded hubcaps for my collection if its a style need.

Does anyone know what these parts are for? I got them in a box of Buffalo and Houk parts and I have never seen these. They are cast aluminum and I am thinking they might be spare wheel spacers of some sort. Part number on the flat plates is B5077, and the other pieces have B2035A. I also have a Houk #5 emblem that has a hole in the middle. It doesn’t look cut out and there is a boarder around the hole so it looks like it was originally this way. Any ideas what it’s for?
