I am totally a Mopar girl.Trying to get a little help with a classic beauty
  1. Well, here's a quick update. We treated the gas, installed an assist pump, and she runs. But she still seem to vapor lock when she gets hot.
  2. The canister has been unhooked to check for leaks it is not been run down the street like that. I am going to try a supplemental tank to find out if it is the gas, or something in the tank, or if it is further forward this weekend. I'll let you know what I find.
  3. Yes, it is less than 10 inches from the inlet of the carb. That hose has been changed as well.(both ends)
  4. Could I do this with an air compressor of do I need to do something else?
  5. In the truck, yes. The problem seems better. It still tries to stall out once in a while, I guess that it is still working out the whatever it is that I picked up. The car won't even make it to a gas station.(yet) The "charcoal" canister is not hooked up, but I do know where it is, would that cause any difficulties?
  6. Tried to run without the gas cap, no difference. There is a clear fuel filter in line before the carb, when the car is cold I can see the fuel pumping , when the car gets to temp, it stops.
  7. How could it be a carb problem if I'm not getting gas to the carb? I'll try though. The carb was rebuilt about 500 miles ago.
  8. Just put a new one on. I know that it is possible to get a bad pump from the parts house, but what are the chances?
  9. She's a work in progress, but I'll get some as soon as I can.
  10. Thanks, Jack, already tried that. Any other ideas?
  11. I filled both my truck and the Dart at the same station. I have since stopped getting fuel there. I think it is part of the problem. The truck is a '91 d1500 fuel injected 360 and the Dart is a lazy 6. No feed back line.
  12. I tried and it still "runs out of gas" could I have gotten some bad gas or water in it somewhere? My '91 is acting like it is trying to run out of gas as well.
  13. Yes to both. The filter has been replaced, and the sending unit has been completely removed from the tank and checked. The screen looks clean. it does have a cracked seam, though, could it be collapsing?
  14. All hoses changed. except the steel ones. when the car is cold it pumps fine, when it gets to temp it stops pumping. when the filter gets empty, can rev the motor and the filter will fill again. Could it be something as simple as bad gas or water? This is not the only vehicle acting this way.
  15. I have a nice little 73 Dodge Dart with a slant 6. Have been having some fuel problems with it. replaced just about everything except the fuel sending unit (looks good) and the steel lines (also good). The problem that I am still having is that there is no fuel at the filter/carb when it is ideling. I have been having this problem for about 3 months. Before that it ran like a dream. If I rev it up to around 3000 rpm the pump will kick in untill then I get nothing from the pump. Any ideas?
