I am looking for a 1937-39 Mopar overdrive, or more specifically T86A-1 transmission with R6 overdrive preferably from a 1939 DeSoto or 1939 Chrysler C22 Royal with the electric overdrive. I will however consider any other non-fluid drive overdrive 3-speed with top cover that was originally bolted to a 6-cyl Chrysler, Dodge, DeSoto or Plymouth.
We would like to add overdrive to a 1938 Dodge D10 so we can cruise with today's traffic.

Well I looked thru my 1936-42 Chrysler parts list....has no interior upholstery or visor parts listed...group 23-103-...
All I can supply is the Dodge truck chrome bracket found as an option #593789
And the Chrysler convert chrome arm and bracket sold originally as a assembly..#936366.
Both the above chrome brackets look identical but are drilled ever so slightly different for the chrome visor arm.
A picture of the DT visor arm brackets..
And of a 1946-48 broken or whats left of it Dodge, DeSoto and Chrysler bracket...notice bracket visor arm holes truck centered verses offset convertible.
Some of this info might help even though not mid to late 30's MoPar...
Though the part #'s I've listed are mid to late 30's.
That’s very helpful, thanks. The assemblies I have (both right side) are like your assembly on the left of in the photo. All the truck sets I have seen have had a straight rod after the 90 degree bend, not a U-bend gooseneck shape.

I have a '35 Airstream c-6 Convertible coupe
It has a later model transmission (we think its a '39)
side case numbers on transmission
transmission
and a manual overdrive unit
OD unit
side case numbers on OD unit
top case numbers on OD unit
We would appreciate it if anyone has any insight into these units - particularly if you have any spare parts or experience working on them.
We believe we have figured out how the OD unit works - but have no information on adjusting it before installation
Thanks in advance

The transmission application for a T86-1P is 1937 Chrysler Royal and Imperial with overdrive and 1937 DeSoto wit overdrive. But the transmission should be similar to 1936-38 applications. 1939 used an electric solenoid on the overdrive unit.

I will check my books to see if I can match up the part numbers car to truck.
A friend of mine who passed away had two 39 Plym converts....His massive parts all were sold off. He would have had lots of that rare hard to find convertible parts ..oh well.
Thanks, that would be super helpful. i just have a 1938 car parts book here so I am not able to match much else at the moment. No worries on missed parts inventory... seems to be the way things go for me lately... oh well indeed.
numbers I was able to find, but I suspect include the bracket and the rod:

I've tried swapping truck brackets on to my 48 Chrysler...visors would swing down at an odd angle....couldn't use the truck brackets.
Thanks for the heads up. I didn't think there was a difference, but I haven't actually had one to try. Do you know if all the convertible ones might be the same angle? or if the 46-48 might have differences from the 1935-39 ones?

I might be able to help with convertible top information...

Thanks for the heads up. I will try to look for more info on these.

Very nice coupe! I'm jealous... I'm in Winnipeg with a pair of '38 Chryslers...

I am looking for the diver's side chrome 3-mounting screw bracket for the sun visor off a 1936-1939 Mopar convertible. I am missing this piece for my 1938 Chrysler convertible. I only need the bracket as I have the visor rod. Here's a picture of the passenger side for a 1938 convertible. i need a bracket that is a mirror image to this one.

I am looking for the following parts for a 1938 Chrysler Imperial convertible coupe (C19):
- Complete front seat assembly, including adjusters/slides, or very detailed photographs and dimensions of same from someone's car. The seat appears to be the same on 1937 and 1938 Plymouth, Dodge, DeSoto and Chrysler convertible coupes, possibly 1939 Plymouth convertible coupe as well. My car is missing the entire front seat assembly, so any leads or information, pictures and or dimensions would be appreciated;
- Rumble seat bottom cushion assembly (or detailed dimensions and photos as mine is missing); (same possible donor cars as above). I had a reproduction made, but if an original pops up, I am interested.
- Rumble seat interior panel patterns; (same possible donor cars as above)
- Coupe or convertible Left Side stainless steel door and rear body trim (I am missing the rear body piece from the door to the tail along the quarter panel, as well as the door). Chrysler C18 Royal or C19 Imperial coupe or convertible coupe trim works;
- Running Board stainless trim, top strips and side molding (any 1938 Chrysler Imperial C19 trim should fit);
- Horn button/horn ring spring(s) and washers and contact plates for the optional 1938 banjo/chrome spoke steering wheel (same wheel as Dodge/Desoto/Chrysler) (I believe that the springs and contacts are the same as the regular steering wheel - I would be interested in a complete standard steering wheel assembly if need be);
- Passenger door window regulator assembly, including window channels, window frame, etc (or a complete door) same on 1937 and 1938 Dodge, DeSoto, Chrysler, and '37-'39 Plymouth convertible coupes with one piece glass (no vent window).
- Interior sun visor and rod/mounting bracket for the driver's side, as well as a pattern or dimensions for the visors themselves.
- Pattern of the windshield header trim panel (where sun visors mount) or detailed photos of what it should look like.
Please send me a private message with any leads or details, or reply directly to this thread.

I have started looking into the WPC club. My dad had been a member for some time in the 80's-90's. I also realized that I haven't checked here for a while either. My projects have stalled for a while and I'm trying to get things rolling again.

I realize this is an old topic, but I'm still looking for any tips on this topic.

Have you tried here for that stainless....?
Yes. That place has been hit up and personally visited a few times over the years. I've also tried Fat Fender Relics, and they didn't have anything either.

You'd need to roll the edges first, then form them upwards, then roll the "V". Ugh. A tipping roller would probably be the right tool for the latter two, or a custom machined set of rollers. I'd start with a strip that was curved to match the fender in the flat, using a shrinker/stretcher and then form the contours. I would think that would better follow the shape without risk of kinking the cross section if you tried to bend it after forming.
You are correct. it has rolled under edges for the clips. I like the idea of forming from a strip that has the right curve for the body, that's probably the best way to approach this.

This is a formed stainless strip moulding. Making it out of chromed solid brass would probably be the "easiest" but the shine would differ between it and the door trim that it continues from. And making all new trim out of solid stock would probably be crazy expensive.
I have considered the bead roller forming method. It would have to be a multi step process to get the right triple peaked profile. The trim is only about 5/8" wide. Getting the proper gentle curve and twist along the rear body line would be challenging.
I might try the welding multiple straight sections together and gently forming the shape.

I am missing one length of stainless trim for my 1938 Chrysler convertible (rear body side) and this trim is one year only, and specific to coupes and convertibles. Not having had any luck in finding a replacement after years of searching, I am now wondering if it would be possible to fabricate what is missing. I have the other side as a mirror image pattern. I also have many extra pieces of trim from sedans that are way too short and the wrong curvature (most segments are straight, from doors), which I could weld together to get the proper length, but forming the correct contour would be my main challenge. Has anyone here attempted something like this, or know anyone that has done this? Or perhaps there might be someone that offers this as a service?
Any input would be appreciated.

I have some extra 1932 parts bumpers for my DL, so I will try to have a look next time I rummage through the barn, but it might be a while.

Perfect. just gave them a call. Looks like they can help me out on sill plates.

Does anyone have a 1936-1939 rumble seat coupe that could take photos of what could be a drain trough at the bottom of the deck lid opening?

My brother has a '38 Royal convertible coupe (1960s restoration) that I could probably take some photos or measurements for you with a little notice. I think he has new sill plates that he bought just a year or two back, so he might part with the old ones.
If you could look into getting some details from your brother's car, that would be super helpful. I have a regular coupe seat I am planning on modifying, but I need pictures and dimensions of the bottom of the seat, the seat cushion, the slider rails, etc.
Thanks!

Bringing this back to the top in the hopes that someone might have leads or extra parts.

I'm bringing this back to the top. I am still in need of the parts above if anyone has any leads.

Hi Dave,
Unfortunately, that's all different, but I also don't need those parts, as those areas are still good on my car. Thanks though.
