  1. Final update, the 1929 Hupmobile was just sold for $12,000. I didn't mention it, but I finally talked the mechanic into trying to start it, and i started right up, didn't even smoke. Drove fine too, probably why t sold on the second showing. He said he'd never seen ANY Hupmobile this clean before. Ted Quick
  2. Update: Tried starting the car today, and it started right up. No smoke or any other problems, runs smooth. Also something else I learned in the meantime, the back seat is 1/3 covered by a storage box (expanded glove compartment, since it didn't have 1 on the dash???) Carpet covered and all. So if anyone is interested in it now, feel free to get back to me. email: rim_molder@yahoo.com Phone or text: 440 289-9015 Ted Quick
  3. Trying to sell a 1929 Hupmobile Century 6 Opera Coupe (here and elsewhere). Engine is NOT running since it hasn't run since ~1994. Gas in tank has gone bad, as well as spark plug wires, and other wiring, has to be replaced first. Out of my depth here, what does it take to do this, what are the possible problems, and how risky is it starting the engine first time. Owner I'm working with is worried it may throw a rod or something else terrible on starting. Ted Quick
  4. Just went to show the car for the first time yesterday. Found that the last seat is smaller than I realized, since there is a storage box on the left end of the seat, taking up about 1/3 of it. Found out that it would help a WHOLE lot when trying to sell if the engine can be run. He lost interest real fast, said he won't buy unless it's running, just turning over isn't acceptable. Oh well. Anyone know of a shop that can clean out the fuel system, replace wiring, and get it running, especially in northeast Ohio area? Incidentally, also got pictures showing how the polished chrome looks. Note that in the last piucture the spare tire has been removed after polishing the chrome above it, you may be able to see the difference there.
  5. Can't say for sure, but an old advertising brochure that I found online shows this seat configuration as being the normal 2 door 4 seat configuration. Apparently the "Opera Coupe" label applied to this version. Ted Quick
  6. Found this 1929 Hupmobile Century 6 Opera Coupe which has been stored inside for much of it's life. Pristine condition, looks just like new. Original 6 cylinder engine, no rust or deterioration to be found. Pictures below show it as found before it was washed, waxed and had the chrome polished, so it's even better than it looks. Interesting things, it has a much smaller front passenger seat than the driver's seat, but it's the only one that folds to get into the back seat. Asking $14,000, negotiable. Can bring it to you on a flatbed truck at extra cost. Located in Willoughby, OH, ~30 miles east of Cleveland. Incidentally, also got pictures showing how the polished chrome looks. Note that in the last piucture the spare tire has been removed after polishing the chrome above it, you may be able to see the difference there. Ted Quick (440) 289-9015 rim_molder@yahoo.com
  7. Getting ready to sell a 1929 Hupmobile with a 6 cylinder engine. It's an Opera Coupe, but want to verify if it's a Century 6 model or something else. Also trying to determine value for a 1929 in original condition, everything is original equipment, including the paint. Ted Quick
