  1. The drain hose for the evaporator is probably plugged. It's located on the passengers side lower cowl behind the power steering pump. Looks like a short rubber hose coming out of the cowl.
  2. The a/c compressor in the 16v looks like the R4 that GM used in the 1980s & 1990s.
  3. A couple years ago I installed a DashMat in my 89 8v. Didn't want to stick anything to the leather, so I used carpet thread that I attached to the mat and ran down through any crack or opening I could find, then attached the thread to what ever I could, and pulled it snug. Also attached a cloth strap about 6" long to the mat by the glove box, and ran the strap down and attached it inside the glove box. The mat moves a little when it gets some really hard wind, but not a problem. The mat is black, the two reasons I installed it, one of course to keep the ( Ariz.) sun off of it, and two, and the reason I got black, to keep the reflection of the dash off the inside of the windshield. The sunlight reflection off the ( tan ) dash, for me was unacceptable, and the black cloth mat has completely eliminated it.
  4. Most times I've had either or both of these problems, it was a poor ground.
  5. My 87 Shelby Charger did not have a BOV.
  6. I always thought the hole in the thermostat of the 3.0 was a vent hole, and it made it easier to fill with coolant. The 2.2 has a plug above the thermostat, and when removed, creates a vent. When the Service Manual calls for a 195 degree, that is what I would use. Any of the sending units and control modules are set to operate at the higher temp. Also when the engines run hotter, they stay cleaner inside.

  8. Clips, silencer pads glued in place and clips installed, headliner in place.
  9. The hood liner was gone when I bought my 89. I ordered hood liner material from JCW., I believe it was 6'x4'. I also made the silencer pads from that piece. I glued the pads to the hood, and used plastic push locks and some glue on the hood liner. I didn't drill any holes, I made clips that slid into the slots in the hood, witch made the slot small enough, that it would hold a plastic push lock pushed into it. I used 15 push locks. I ordered 5/8 thickness liner, that was the main problem I had, it should have been about 3/8, that's about what it was after I split it in half. For the clips, I cut a piece of tin aprox. 1 1/4x2 1/4 folded it in half, flatten it , make tighter at the fold. Try it in one of the slots, then push it in, and a little tap to tighten it. I have some pictures I'll send, if I can ever figure out how to.
  10. The SMEC is set up for controlling the engine when the coolant is aprox. 195. At 180 the SMEC may not be able to correctly control engine functions. After all manufacturers began using 195 stats, compared to the 180 & 160, the engines were cleaner, less sludge & carbon build up. In the past 20 yrs I owned 4 Chryslers with turbos, The only time there was a problem with cooling the engine, was because there was a problem with the cooling system, radiator not clean inside, fan not working correctly, water pump, head gasket, coolant leak. When things were right, never had a problem with cooling system.
  11. The SMEC was installed in 1991,by the first owner. I am just trying to find some info on the specs. of the SMEC.
  12. The 1st. owner of my 1989, 8v, installed a Chrysler performance computer #P4529333. The instruction sheet with it states that it increases boost, spark advance and fuel delivered. Nothing about how much boost or HP gain. I would like to know what the specs. are, but I guess the chance of finding them would be about zero. But, on the other hand you never know, so I just thought I would put it out there, in case someone does have some info on it. Don
  13. I put the spare tire in the trunk shortly after I bought my TC. About 6 yrs. ago while at work, I had my 1990 Plymouth Voyager parked just around the side of a wall from me. Heard what sounded like an explosion, I ran around the wall and there was dust in the air right behind my van, and pieces of tire. My spare had exploaded, and there were a lot more pieces of tire laying behind the van than I would guessed there would be. When I first saw where the spare was located in the TC, I thought if this tire would expload like the one on the van, I sure wouldn't want to be setting in the car. I put the tire in the trunk. Also can't imagine removing the spare from inside the car with the top on.
  14. Must say it is nice for it to be cloudy occasionally.
  15. I pretty much agree with you. When I bought my TC the one thing I didn't feel comfortable with was that it had ABS. Everything that I've driven, that had ABS, the feel of the brake pedal was never good. Although I must admit that the brakes on my TC feel more like the standard brake system, good. But, if I shood have problems with the ABS, it will be a big deal, compared to the standard brake syatem to correct.
  16. Anything in the ignition system breaking down, plugs, wires etc. Dirty fuel filter, bad fuel pump, plugged cat. You just have to start checking things. If you know everything in the ignition is, or should be good, go on and check the fuel pressure. If you don't know when the fuel filter was changed, I would change it first and see if it helps.
