  1. Just for once .. a picture of my Plymouth (and yes there are windmills in Holland and no, we are not walking on wooden shoes ! ) Its a great car this 1940 P9, Paul
  2. Anderson thanks! We (me and my wive ) .. "without a wive : no happy Buick live " (did i wrote that ??) I like the gray and silver two tone paint ...so thats what it is going to be.. If the parts car work out wel than this car maybe end up some time with green paint on it ... But green is green and i just want for now some nice and shiny chrome on a straight eight ! You ll know what i mean, drive it just for fun on a sunny sunday with your mother in law ... that is were you doing these things for . Paul
  3. I spent some time to clean and testing the gauges . The Odometer was not working and the wheels were oxidated . I found out that the 41 and 47 has some interchangeable parts that i couldt use to let my odometer work again . sadly all the numbers felt off , but that is something i can reproduce it Takes some time and a steady hand to fixed it .. Left is the 41 on the right is the 47 Maybe nice to see the diferences of both meters , the housings won't fit into the dash because of its mountings and from the odometer itselve the daycount reset cable / mechanics is different , i wanted only to use the 1947 wheels . You have to do some minor changes to make it fit, than put some new grease on the parts and now its working smooth again. For now i used the 47 centre plate . Ofcourse i am looking for a new plate ,( also for the clock ..) i wil find them for sure during the restauration .. Paul
  4. Lights out in the garage .... "Christine" came to live
  5. Anderson , It looks very very nice . Is it original to paint the dash into the same color as the body ? it looks good and i really love the color. It is great in combination with the chrome . I have seen some pictures of a 41 coupe that was sprayed two-tone , dark grey on the "bottom" and silver grey on top .. super .... Paul
  6. As i allready started a thread on the restauration forum , my good friend Anderson suggested to start a thread on this forum ( Me and my Buick ) . Just to reach some more Buick members for help and advice and ofcourse to show some progress of the restoration and please feel free for any comment. A short introduction of my Buick, it is a 1941 Model 41 SSE, the dual carb version . Pepper already loves the Buick and jumped in for a "ride " (he didn't know its missing a few parts) so he have to wait for a little "while ".. These cars are very rare overhere, build in 1941, europe was in war so not one civilian car reached Europe those days .. Only some Military cars came over in 1944 (but thats another hobby of mine) So restoring a Buick is a party of searching on Ebay. (and than waiting till parts finally come over from the US ...) . In the meantime i dismantle the Buick, clean all the parts, registrate them and store them. The frame needs to be removed and we have to check carefully al the weldings the last owner has done ( a lot... and there rusty again ) . I will do some postings during the progress and have some fun reading the threads on this forum. regards Paul
  7. Hi Anderson yesterday i pulled out the "dashboard" out of my buick ( the gauge part) original there was original a sort of polished plate used over the steel dash. Mine was damaged and paint over . Do you know if these plates are for sale? .. also took the mile gauge out of it . and ofcourse al the numbers felt from the counter weels . I have an 47 mile gauge also and the mechanic inside is nearly similar than the 41models . So i am doing some interchanging . But i have to get some new numbers for it ... And does someone has a picture (or an exploded view ) from the vacuum wiper built in . Mine is missing and i want to check some wipers overhere if they might fit.. happy sunday! paul
  8. Hi Time again for some new postings, last week we dissambled the car from the inside, after removing the seats and carpet i discovered that there was allready a lot of work done at the botom of the car, al lot of new metal has been welded inside it. unfortunatly they didin't do it so nice so rust is at every welding, they welded 3 doors complete but the third door the didn't, you look just through it .. So now i have the idea what we all have to do to restore it and wich parts i am missing ( a lot) . I decided to start with cleaning en reparing all the stainles mouldings, and Zamac (chromed) parts and store them ( for a while). It is amazing how much pitting there exists into the chromed parts so the only thing to get those parts cleaned and tidy for rechroming is grinding and polishing, a lot of work but the results are good . you wil never get 100% out of the zamac parts but it is exeptible. see some pic's does someone know what kind of centermoulding this is from the grill , it looks like a replica of the original , i bought this on Ebay , the patern on the moulding is different (it is the opposite ) than the original, It was new and never been chromed. A few pic's of the car regards Paul
  9. Hi Anderson, See you are making progres on the Buick..... did you do a total overhaul on the engine ?? or just a cleanup and "headrenovation ".. It looks very good! can you imaging .. i am just busy every evening with grinding al the "zamac chrome" part . man o man what a pitting into the metal ..... But the results are very satisfying.. will post some pics next week ... have a nice weekend! Paul
  10. Hi Pat , About the woodgraining Can you tell me wich RAL number the first layer of the brown paint is ? I suspect that the "black roller" on the table is the "woodmotif " tool .. How many layers of clear coat goes over the motif ? Wich brand is the set from? thank you for your reply ! regards Paul
  11. Hi Pat , I just joined this forum shortly, i am amazed by the projects people start. This is a really great job... you do on that car .. To pick up a "wreck"out of the field! and turn it over into its original state . In one word! respect ! ... keep on posting!.. Paul
  12. Hi there, Just new here on the forum and just started to disamble the "baby blue", Buick SSE from 1941, i found the car this year on the internet. What can i say? I wanted a project car ..... well now i have my project car ..... I placed a few pictures so you get an idea what "these" folks in Holland are up to ... ( so please don't get angry when i spell a few words wrong, i do my best !). It was an earlier "restauration", so the outside looks not to bad (exept the color) but the inside, windows, underneath the car and the engine has to be redone . It is a real "filler" car" but i stay positive! I just look sometimes to nice pictures of restaured Buick's so i get used to the end result of all the work ;-) . enjoy and feel free to give any comment, Paul
  13. Hi Anderson, Great job and what a great looking car, thanks for your e mail (for the E bay Stuff) . I will follow your progress from now on, while i am starting right now with disambling my "blue" buick SSK M41 . Ill keep the grey color of your Buick in my mind i like it in combination with silvergrey (two tone) for the future! regards from Holland Paul
