  1. I did not see any chrome or brass so it leaves me out. Leaving for Hershey in the morning with the wife while it is still an existing event. By the looks of the future of the car hobby what I see in that article there will be no need for Hershey seeing those cars will not be projects to restore.
  2. You are so correct about you never know who you may see at a cars and coffee as I have found. Once had two ladies looking at my 30 Cadillac inquiring about using it in a porn movie.
  3. I have an early T touring and find it a good driver if I am on the front seat by myself. But then my wife does not like the T and goes with someone else generally and then life is good.
  4. My 1930 353 Cadillac had the original coil in it until the other day when it quit and had the car towed home. My question is what coil does it take with or without a resister. I read 6 volt coils should not have a resister and then I was told if you do not have a resister your points will burn out more quickly. So should 6 volt cars have a resister or no coil resister in the older cars.
  5. Last weekend was on a vintage tour and sold a car the next morning to a fellow that was also on tour with us. No advertising needed on this deal and the car was not even for sale. Headed for Hershel next to do some shopping.
  6. A different topic as to were the cars of the teens 20s and 30s better aerodynamically designed driving in reverse than forward. This test was done at the Oshawa campus that has one of the most advanced car testing facilities and they actually did this test. This is interesting showing the evolution of aerodynamics with a car. These are club members cars who were asked for the loan of the cars for the test. They also give a great club tour of the facility when asked.   8. Has a windshield top and doors and now that is luxury. Many do not realize that in the early years many manufacturers even head lights as an option for the well to do who could afford a automobile
  9. I found this by just googling 1936 Cadillac V16. There were not many V16 made so it may be an easy hunt for you. If it is the correct one you are missing the top cover that would be a harder find than the holder I would think. I will let you take over now. Good luck and try googling.
  10. I will also be on the Sentimental tour in London in two weeks. As for gas yes I do not get good mileage at 8 miles to the gallon so with a 25 gallon gas tank I usually tell the wife it is her turn to buy!

  13. I do not think that 3D printing is the answer to all our problems. It might be a challenge to do a locking a door handle or threads.
  14. The bottom piece I had him make but did not use as mine is exalent and will sit on the shelf until if ever needed. I figure in the future I may not be able to got one so why not. Other things that may be hard to get made or limited supply like the inside window cranks that are a screw on. Possibly an outer handle with a key or a radiator ornament. These are all things that may be more difficult to make so may be more difficult to find a suppler. I will not even get into a new crown & pinion I had made a few years ago seeing they only wanted orders in bulk. Maybe I am over reacting but it is something to ponder about and hoping Mike never wins the lottery.
  15. Our skilled and knowledgeable suppliers for that impossible part to find seem to be dwindling. I needed a distributor body for a 1930 Cadillac V8 being pot metal and full of fine cracks. Seeing the one I had on the shelf was worse than the one on my car it would not do even as pattern . It was so full of cracks that it was no longer round to get the cap on. Bill Scherer in Detroit was a great source for reproduced parts and even supplied others like Charles Selick then Pete Saunders with some items like the running board outer chrome trim for the 8 and 16 Cadillacs. Selick has also passed years ago then taken over by Pete Sanders who I had used also . Now run by Chris Sanders and Kelly Ryan Co-Owners and now calling it Classic Auto and Machine. There on line catalog shows they are now a rough casting in aluminum not machining parts. This suppler is now in its 3 generation. I also have noticed that Brian Joseph of Classic & Exotic Services, Inc. has also retired and sold and now called Straight Eight. Looking at their online catalog they no longer carry the V8 distributor body as well as other parts Brian manufactured. I had distributor body made by Mike Butters in Coburg On. who is making and machining casting full time all at one location. I am very happy with the work he did but getting very concerned for the future of our hobby supply line. I am talking for the difficult low production parts we need from time to time that are not on the shelf. Thankfully Mike is in his mid 40s and started manufacturing parts after leaving high school then taking over the business from Harvey Frid. So I should be ok for a while in the casting field. I know he makes parts for hobbyist from all over the world and very busy so I may have to wait a little longer next time. Just the painted black below the cap in the picture to give an example of a part needed to keep my car on the road I had to have made.
  16. That is the door that folds down to get the luggage out. It only folds 90 degrees as you can see the stops so most hinges will not work.
  17. I am guessing it broke at the pin. If so take the pin out to take it apart and then put a brass pin in the broken end only to align the broken part. Using a brass the pin will not weld to the part very well. Then weld fitness and reassemble with the brass pin. I do not know anyone that makes hinges or try Chris Sanders http://www.classicautoandmachine.com/ for a long shot.

  19. Recognize this car as it was on the road today for a tour with the HCCA. Peter said he let it sit for one month with Marvel Mystery oil in the cylinders and it freed up. He was able to sort the car starting in the morning and was out for its first drive in the late after noon. They clocked 260 miles with two other K touring's in Lindsay Ontario.
  20. I watch the industrial auctions for Lista cabinets. I can pull out a drawer and use it to stand in to reach higher. They are very expensive new but I bought a workbench with butcher block top and drawers for 275 and new is over 2000. 3 cabinets for 250 each and also over 2000 new. They come with all different drawer sizes. Most shops use them for tooling so they are great for mechanical tools. Only way to go in my book and get your money back when you downsize.   21. Interesting how people drove their A back in the 60s but today across town is stressful. With people of today that do not care about vintage cars so they will not have the patience to be behind one. What happened to the fellow from the west coast that drove his late 20s Cadillac on long hauls???
  22. Maybe a hubcap off a pedal car or a wagon.
