  6. I came across this item for sale - it appears to be an original early tintype photo of Henry Ford demonstrating the Quadricycle. This is a well known image and published copies I have seen appear to be lighter and with more detail (I've attached another photo from Wikipedia of the same image to show the difference). What are your thoughts on this item? I believe that it is a real vintage tintype due to wear and the border damage. However, I'm not so certain that it was taken at the demonstration itself. Perhaps it's an early photo of another photo taken of the image? What would the value of something like this be? This forum has always been tremendously helpful and I really appreciate any replies / insights?
  7. Thanks everyone for your feedback! I think the 1911 Oldsmobile is right on for the early photo. The Studebaker looks to also be the right guess based on the trim piece - difficult to tell for certain since the angle is so different. I never would have guessed Skoda! Here's a close up of the group photo:
  8. Hi there, I collect vintage automotive sales literature and photographs and am hoping someone here can help identify the cars in these images: 1) The photo of multiple cars is a press photo taken in Montreal. The image is stamped 1950 but I believe the cars may be late 1940's? There are Sedan and Panel Truck versions shown. 2) The photo of the lady changing a tire is from Cuba and likely taken in the 1950's or 1960's. 3) The early photograph is from St Catharines, Ontario, Canada. I believe this may be a Buick but not certain of the exact model. Any ideas? Appreciate your help! Mike.
  9. Amazing, thanks!! This forum is incredible with these types of identifications!
  10. Hi, I came across these two vintage photos in a collection of automotive literature I recently purchased in Toronto, Canada. Any help identifying the vehicles pictured would be most appreciated! Car #1 has an Ontario, Canada license plate dated 1940. The vehicle pictured is therefore likely late 1930's to 1940. Car #2 appears to be from the late 1910's or early 1920's. Thanks! Mike.
  11. No worries - I'll let you know if I come across those issues.
  12. I don't have January unfortunately, but I do have April 1913 and August 1917 Motor Magazines if you're interested...
  13. Hi, I recently purchased a large collection of early automotive brochures, magazines and related items dating back to 1901. The early photo attached was part of this purchase and is now one of my favourite items in my collection. The photo was definitely taken in Canada and the 'St Catharines' pennant pictured refers to a city in Ontario. The photo is obviously very early judging by the license plate on the vehicle. My best guess is that this car is a McLaughlin-Buick from the 1910's but I honestly have no idea. The last time I posted a mystery car photo, the incredible people on this forum came through in identifying that car as an early / very rare Isotta Fraschini. I'm confident someone out there will know exactly what this beautiful automobile is as well. Any insights are greatly appreciated!
  14. Hi, Hoping a fellow literature collector can help shed some light on a recent find. I purchased a very large collection of early literature recently, with items dating back to 1901 to as recent as the 1980's. Most of the early pieces are unquestionably original, including some very rare and valuable pieces (e.g. a 1907 Packard brochure). However, the collection also included some high quality 1960's/1970's Rolls Royce Owner's club and Clymer reprints of early brochures. The item I am uncertain about is this early 1930's Duesenberg brochure (see photos). There are a couple currently listed on eBay in considerably worse condition than mine and the appearance is otherwise identical. My brochure is in excellent condition with some light wear, but I do have many items from this era (and even earlier) in similar condition. There are no markings anywhere on the brochure to suggest it is a reprint and the paper stock / printing are very high quality and closely match the listed originals. While I am 90% confident that my item is original based on the items it was found with, I also have some feeling that there is a possibility this is an old reproduction from the 1950's or 1960's. Is anyone aware of any reproductions done of this particular brochure? If so, is there any way to validate whether my find is an original or high-quality early repro? Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

  17. Wow!! You guys are absolutely incredible! Thank you!! Ivan, I really appreciate the detailed history. I've been fascinated by this car since coming across the photo and it's great to finally learn the background.
  18. I found this photo in a small 'save from the dump' lot of misc. literature I purchased last year. The lot was the last scraps from a collection which, before being sold off piece by piece, spanned 1930's Bugatti brochures to 1980's Chevette. Despite my best efforts, I have had no luck identifying the car in this image. Frustratingly, there is a stain covering the radiator badge. The photo itself is relatively large (8x10) and I believe this may be a press or promotional photo for the automaker. This is one of my favourite items and I would love to be able to identify the vehicle itself and learn more about its history. I would also be very interested to learn the identities of the driver (very clearly shown) and passenger who I think may have some historical significance. Any ideas? Your help would be greatly appreciated!
  19. Hi Marc, thank you for replying to my posting! I have sent you a personal email requesting more information.
  20. Hi, I'm interested in purchasing larger collections (20+ pieces minimum) of quality vintage automotive sales brochures, owner's manuals and related items. All pieces must be between 1900 and 1970 and in good to excellent condition for their age (exceptions for rarer / more interesting items). I am located in Toronto, Canada, but have bought and sold thousands of sales brochures online as a hobby for over 7 years. I can pay via Paypal in U.S. funds and, if possible, I believe the safest way to set up an online transaction is through an eBay buy it now listing. However, I am open to other secure purchase methods. I am happy to pay shipping. I pay fair wholesale prices for larger collections. If you have a literature collection and are looking to sell, let me know what you have - maybe we can make a deal. Regards, Mike. Please note that I am not looking to purchase the following items at this time: Single pieces, Magazines & Magazine Ads, Reproduction brochures, Heavy Shop Manuals, Chilton and other Repair Manuals (But thanks for offering!).
  21. As a new member to the forums, I want to share a very unique brochure I recently acquired - 1929? BMW (I believe the 1928 model would have mentioned the Dixi name). This is European market with German text and was part of an attic-find collection of a gentleman who's grandfather had collected these items new in Poland. I've been collecting/selling vintage literature as a hobby for a while now and I've never seen another piece similar to this.
