  3. The author of the Hemmings article has never seen a pre war car before viewing this Pierce .
  4. NEVER use WD-40 on any clock movement ! That product dries to a gum . It can only be removed with more WD-40 . Pay to have it overhauled by someone knowledgeable . Disassemble to clean properly . Polish the pivots and use good clock oil . Not 3 in one oil .
  5. I love a mystery ! Remove the two coil springs and determine what is in the cylinder . Another coil spring or an air damper with a leather cup . It looks like a round head screw going into the end of the cylinder . Hoping to learn what you find .
  6. I hope the seller is clued to this discussion and is benefitting from the great knowledge offered here . He and the car would both be better for it .
  7. I do like the shop rag air filter the best ! Cheaper than a K & N .

  9. This car just needs to be painted Cherokee Red to finish the project .
  10. Nice car . Something happened to the spark and throttle levers on the steering wheel . Replaced with a white porcelain door knob . Still it's nice .
  11. Use a rivet gun and not an air hammer . There is a BIG difference in how they perform . I would recommend a 7X rivet gun . Lots of power to shoot the rivet quick . An undersize gun will not upset the rivet , just worry it to death .
  12. Alsfarms , I am sorry to say I do not remember . It was more than a FEW years ago . But not crazy money as I was very close to pulling the trigger . I wonder if the Santa Barbra location would help give it a high price . Nice car , it still tempts me .
  13. I could have bought this years ago out of Phoenix. It's on the market now in Santa Barbra . https://www.charlescrail.com/vehicles/122/1947-alvis-ta14-aeroback-woody-wagon Rewooded in African Mahogany .
  14. "It's not for sale . I 'm going to restore it some day."
  15. I have turned sockets down for clearance in the lathe . Grinding seems slow irregular effort . Best Wishes :)
  16. I have two neighbors that hand prop their airplanes , with no one in the cockpit on the brakes .
