Many years ago I helped my dad restore a 28 Model A pickup, which he then drove to work every day for a couple of years, year-round (even in the snow). Shortly after we first got it on the road, he had a very similar "clunk" upon take-off from a stop. Friends who were Model A experts gave us several things to try. We had that rear end out of the truck about a dozen times, but nothing worked. Finally, after a couple of weeks of wasted efforts, Dad sat on the ground looking at the undercarriage, and thought about it for a while. He then removed the right rear wheel, got a huge wrench, and tightened the axle nut. We put the wheel back on, and the "clunk" was gone! This solution came as a surprise to the local Model A Ford experts in our circle of car friends, as none of them had ever experienced that "clunk," nor Dad's fix.
Don't know if Hudsons even have a big nut on the end of the axle, though....🤔

I recently bought a collection of emblems, metal data tags, and ornaments. I plan to post photos of them all, when I get them sorted. But this neat little Dodge emblem really caught my eye. It is smaller than a quarter, with a too-small-to-read maker's mark on back. The only letters I can make out are "CO." at the end of the top line, and "USA" at the end of the bottom line. It has a tiny very-short pin on back and appears to be based on chrome or nickel-plated brass.
I thought it might be a watch fob, and after reading the threads by Terry Bond and others of their fob collections, this intrigued me. But there is no place for a leather trap to be attached?
I'm sure that the vintage Dodge guys, like Keiser, or the emblem or fob guys will recognize it, and I'm looking forward to learning about it.

Thanks, Jim Skelly. I took a close-up photo of each side, held in my hand for size reference. The backside of this plastic emblem merely reads, "S3."
Does this info offer you any useful clue?

At our fall swap meet a few weeks ago, I found some emblems for sale, and ended buying them all, in order to get a better price. I would really appreciate some insight about these emblems, please.
I do know that the 4 items in the lower left corner are Chevrolet, and the big three Pontiac plastic emblems are pretty obvious too. But I would appreciate any information about them that you can offer.

Trying contacting Fastenal. I'm not sure if they can handle something as heavy as your engine/trans, but they have their own fleet of trucks and will accept freight packages to offset the cost of their own use of their trucks.

I have a pair of nice used fender skirts, which look like they might be from the late 1950's. I could sure use some help in identifying them, so I can find them a new home with someone who really needs them. (This might be right up the alley for 55er, who really seems to know the 1950's cars and parts).
They are roughly 37" long, including the tabs on each end, and approximately 12" tall.

Hello again, oh sage gurus of cool car stuff!
I bought some emblems and things from a vendor a month ago, and now I plan to meet with him next week, to hopefully acquire a few more items. One thing he offered me before was this pair of Buick-marked tail lamp lenses. He said they were for one year only of Buick cars, and "very rare." So, before I go visit him again, would you agree that these lenses are hard to find, and perhaps desirable? (I know they're only worth what someone will offer, and I know that there aren't too many folks who own Buick from the 1920's or early '30's who are seeking lenses. I'm just seeking some insight, please.)

Here I go, exposing my ignorance yet again. 😔
Not wanting to contribute to another thread drifting off topic, I've started this one to ask what "DPC" is? I ASSUME it stands for a judging class, but cannot guess what that might be.
As a young professional writer, I was constantly reminded that not everyone reading a print article, or listening to a radio broadcast, watching a TV show, or reading something online will automatically know the meaning of abbreviations and other topic-specific acronyms, jargon, etc. Thus, writers are taught to avoid them, or at least explain such abbreviations the first time they appear in an article with parenthetical brackets; IE: ..."NOS (New Old Stock)."
Of course I know most of us are not professional writers. But it sure is appreciated when I can understand an interesting post or thread, because the writer explained.

Many years ago I started producing my own outdoor events, including automotive swap meets, and old-school-type "market-days-style" flea markets. So my weekends during spring and fall went away. We haven't been there since the days of the red, blue, white, and chocolate fields.
But my wife and I miss being at Hershey, and had planned to attend this year, leaving our conflicting event to be operated in our absence by trusted staff members. But the wife's health is not good at the moment, and she cannot walk more than a very few steps. So we're missing it yet again.
I am hoping and praying that 2024 will be our magic year of return. I'll try to secure a vendor spot, so we can have a place to rest throughout the day, and a place to sell some of our unneeded parts. Wish us luck.

I've got yet another event to produce this weekend, so I can't get the photos taken and resized just yet. But next week I'll have some time and I'll post some photos of the items I bought in a new thread.
The Franklin lions were indeed marked just as Terry Bond told me they should be. I bought quite a few pieces, but ran out of $$$ before getting that Packard emblem bought (but I do have the seller's contact info...which I'll give to the family when they plead for holiday gift ideas).
Thankfully, I passed on the "Cadillac flying lady" ornament. 😊

I have quite a few of these, and I think yours may be a one-off unit that someone made in their machine shop, or etc. The outsides of the housing look like they have been turned in a lathe, and the bolt threads look like something from a large C-clamp. Also I note the nut on top of the bolt shaft.
Of course, this would still be very useful, and as such probably nearly as valuable as an antique original.
I hope you find out which vehicles would have used this size puller. Cheers!

The advice and information that the experienced collectors on this forum provided to my request for help was much appreciated, and very helpful indeed. I went back to that booth several times, and finally ended up making several purchases as a package deal. I didn't get everything I wanted (couldn't afford some of it), but I did get several really nice pieces. I'm about to get on the road to tow home a big trailer from this past weekend's event, but I'll take some new photos and start a new thread about all that as time allows this week.

Thanks again to all of you for any advice you can offer. This gentleman has quite a lot of really nice vintage automotive items for sale, but as I said his prices are all over the place. He is not a car guy himself. Tomorrow it will be time for me to put up, or shut up. I've already bought several pieces, which I will share with you via photos in the next few days. But now I must get some sleep, so I can rise at 4am to go back to my booth at this non-automotive event. And then I'll have to make a final decision on buying or passing his several very-cool automotive items for sale.

LOL. I was just following along with the above trend of joke-references to the Packard "Albatross," and the Packard "Swan." So I referred to the familiar Model A Ford Quail as a, "crested starling."
