  1. Hello Brooklyn Beer , I am the fellow selling the 1929 Franklin that is on the HH franklin website. This car has a steel frame . Nothing to worry about. Like some of the other guys have said the Franklin club is a great club. I have nothing but praise for every member I have come in contact with. You have to join the club in order to find parts but they are out there . Just have to find the person who has it. I have two other Franklins. One that I have been working on for a while and a 1931 151 4 door sedan that came from Alabama. The Franklin guys on here will know the car. The 29 is a good driver. If you would like more info pm me for my number. I just like talking about cars in general but especially Franklins. To Walt Gosden, I was at a show in October with my 31 and two fellows came up to me and wanted to know about my Franklin. The one guy said he had owned one a long time ago and it was in sad shape but very rare. I live in NJ and I know about most Franklins but this was a while ago so I did not know about this one until I started talking to him. He said it was a rare body style and he sold it to some one who then had it restored. I started naming off body builders and he said it was a Derham .WOW I said that it was owned by Walt Gosden but is now in Pa. with another Franklin guy. He said yes that is who I sold it to Walt. His name was Jack Edmunds. This car show was at Tabernacle High school in Tabernacle NJ. I told him Paul Fitzpatrick restored the car and it is still a beauty. He was very happy to talk about it . I love meeting the people and hearing the stories . Jim
  2. Yes That is the one . Thank you Roger. Glad you are back home and safe.
  3. A second thumbs up for NC industries. They do excellent work
  4. This family was pretty well to do in the day. Franklins were not a cheap car
  5. Radiator is a bad word in the Franklin group. LOL We call it a grille shell.
  6. All Franklins from 1902 to 1934 were air cooled. The were some differences in the 135 and 137 the biggest being wheelbase. The 135 is 125 inches and the 137 is 132 inches .
  7. To John Mereness, I think the Franklin pictured a couple posts above is alive. I think it is one of the last Walker bodied customs. It is in the Franklin Museum at The Gilmore in Michigan . I am not 100% sure but it looks like the same car.
  8. Definitely a 1929 Franklin model 135 or 137 . You can tell by the brackets for the visor. The LaSalle is different. Also the headlights, fender lights and fender themselves give it away .
  9. I am looking for a rebuilder in the New Jersey area to rebuild my Automatic in my 1958 Pontiac Chieftain. They must be an expert on the 4 speed Hydramatic . Thank you for all replies
  10. A friend of mine was in a fender bender and the driver side fender on his 1958 Pontiac starchief got ruined . Anyone know where to find a good one ? He says it cannot be fixed . Thanks for any info
  11. He is on a trip from florida to Ca. and back in that car. He is a member of the Franklin club. I think his Grandfather bought it new.
  12. I looked at the wireless signals from a couple companies . I found wired signals from Logo Lights to be the best. They have been on my Franklin for a while and I have had no problems at all. Just my opinion . Check out the website , Very nice people to deal with also
  13. It is definitely a Chevrolet . Not a GMC
  14. A buddy of mine in the Franklin club has a Cole. he lives in North Jersey. I will tell him about this
  15. I put a set of Logo Lights on my 31 Franklin. LED and very bright. They are not wireless but some wireless systems have problems I was told . Check it out. Very nice people to deal with also
  16. Check out Rhode Island wiring. They might have the Harness. The will send a diagram with it and if you have any questions they will help. If not there are mopar suppliers that have them. What you have is a fire waiting to happen. Be safe .
  17. 1) I bought mine from Lucas tire 2) Custom Classic 3) New tubes are junk compared to old ones but you really do not have a choice . 4) Blackwall 5)Yes you want new tires 6)I think Excelsior and another company makes radials in that size. I do not know anything about them. I think a couple club members have them on their cars. Hopefully they will answer . This is what I did on my 29 130. Just my thoughts . Have a great day
  18. I own 2 1929 Franklins and a 1931 Franklin and have never had any problem what so ever from any kind of overheating . Franklin had some of the best engineers working for them back in the day. They did extensive testing including idling a car for 2 weeks straight. They also took second and third gear out of the transmission and drove the car thru the desert for about 2 thousand miles . I think this was sometime in the late 20s. They could not be over heated . A lot less moving parts. A big consideration back in the day was what to do about antifreeze protection in cold climates. Franklin needed nothing. Antifreeze as we know it was not invented yet. That is why the Franklin was called the Doctors car for late night house calls in cold climates. From experience you cant go wrong in a Franklin, plus our club is very active. You will get more help than you bargained for !!!
  19. Talk to Patrick Reeve in Cazenovia. He is in the roster
  20. Timmy, you are close . Did your car come from any where near Princeton ? I am going to meet some Franklin friends in Pa. over the weekend but we will be in touch . Thank you Jim
