  1. Thanks very much! I didn't know you could get that much information out of the 91 & 90 !I have another 90 that I am going to put the 91 engine in,so ill use the IPC out of the 91 ! THANKS AGAIN FOR YOUR HELP !
  2. Is the "91" the same ? I have one that I am parting out !
  3. On my '90" ,that is my daily driver, the gauge cluster went blank . it came on and off several times! I drove it the next day,and it never came back on!everything is off, execpt where the MPH is supposed to be in the little box ,there is 00 and where the mileage is supposed to be , it says ERROR ,In the lower left corner a message in a yellow box says ELECT PROBLEM ! I have a 89 and a FSM ,but couldn't find any info that matched.I also stopped at a autozone, but they only had a analyzer for 96 & up. The only clue I have is that the tach took a dive before the dash went dark. Today I started it ,and it came on and went off again as soon as the tach went to zero! The car runs great, and everything else works fine! I am thinking it has something to do with the tach! Does the tach wires go to the coil pack or the crank sensor ? ANY IDEAS ? THANKS !
  4. Everything is good again ! I tried another accumilater -no change- Put another pressure switch on and that fixed problem! I still don't know what would cause the fluid level to rise to the very top of the resivor, when the car was not driven ! (must have emptied the accumilater) at least its working good now! THANKS FOR YOUR INPUT!
  5. I have a 1989 reatta, that the brakes were working great when I parked it for about 3 weeks ! I went to move it the other day,and when I went to stop I had no brakes! I know the fluid was at the proper level when I last used it ,but when I looked at it ,it had filled up way past where it should it should be (almost to the top) I removed the excess fluid (it almost filled a spray can plastic top),and tried to pump up the 25 times, but the pedal was hard and there was no change! I am thinking something let loose in the accmulater! What do u think? There was no fluid on the pressure switch connection! The pump is running all the time and the fluid level is not changing! Anyone had a problem like this?
  6. thanks again for the info !
  7. I just got another 1990 reatta with a bad engine ! I have a good 1991 engine ! I know the trans is different, but is there a problem putting the "91" engine in the "90" ? (wireing) Would I need to use the "91" ECM ? Has anyone done this ?THANKS FOR THE INFO !
  8. I checked & yes they are like the ones pictured ! I saw two studes in a old car sales yard, and one had a smaller grille . I bought the car over a year ago,and its still in my enclosed trailed! I was trying to find a good grille & hub caps before I start on the restoration !It doesn't need too much ! It is a 2 - dr. sedan. The grilles aren't too bad,but a couple of bars on each one in the center got broke when someone hit something in the center! Do u know of anyone that repairs them! Haven't seen too many 41s at car shows.THANKS
  9. ok thanks ! My grilles are not as large as the ones pictured !
  10. Wanted right & left grilles for "41" stude champion ! also set of hubcaps THANKS !
  11. I have a "89" Reatta with 260,000 miles ,and a "91" with 118,000 miles . I read from a previous thread that the "91" is a electronic trans. ,and the "89" is not! What is the diff , and can I use the "91" in the "89" ? THANKS !
  12. I am looking to buy a good set of hubcaps ( 1939 - 1941 ) and also both sides of a 1941 grille ! THANKS !
  13. Thanks Larry ,the vehicle has 225,000 miles I don't know the history ,but you are right ,as the part # was diff, even though they looked alike (one ended with 45 , the other with 65 ) - only has ECM , but 2 circuits go to the cluster . I might go back to the bone-yard and dig out the ECM that goes with the cluster I have! The ign switch is located mid-way on the steering collum , just the ign lock with key turns a rod that moves the switch. Thanks for responding!
  14. This isn't an antique, but as soon as I can fix this problem I can sell this ,and put the money in my antique cars! The problem is some times when I turn the key , all the gauges work , and sometimes they don't ! When they don't work , the only thing that lights up is the mileage and head light picture " for running lights ". When they work ,everything works (except the tach - but it still lights up ) I tried another gauge cluster , but nothing lit up on it ! It is the kind that has the female part of the harness attached to the metal part of the dash frame. I thought it might have a BCM like my Reatta, but can't find it in the shop manual. Any help on this will be appreciated ! THANKS !
  15. As some salvage yards wont let you bring in batteries you can also disconnect the cable under the seat from the motor and using a small vice grip on the cable rotate it to make the seat move one side at a time A little slow-but it workes
  16. I figured it out ------- took all the bulbs out of rear , one looked burnt, like the post on the bulb was too close together, and the filament of the brake light was jumping across and shorting out all the tail light bulbs which caused the fuse to blow! Hope no one else has this problem!
  17. I am having trouble with the fuse blowing out.I had the same thing happen last year, and it had been working good for a while. Then smoke started coming out from the dash. It turned out to be the module.I replaced the module, and every thing worked as it should. I just went to the store, and the fuse blew again! All the bulbs were working, except the brake light that is up high.I hah trouble one time, when a filament fell across the other filament and shorted out. I am thinking everything was ok until I put the brakes on. Anyone have a similar problem? any ideas? Thanks
  18. Thanks for your reply Barney. I ordered an elbow from Autoplicity.com but they returned my payment and said the manufacturer could not fill the order .It is ok as I didn't think of asking if anyone had a used part! It made me mad when the 2nd one broke,as I usually cut the hose about a 1/2 inch down.I also had another unit that I had bought at a scrap yard, but couldn't find it. I ended up takeing a unit off my other Reatta that I had been driving, that I knew was good.It worked fine. I don't need one right away as I just left on a trip and wont need it for about a month! soooo DOES ANYONE HAVE A USED ELBOW THEY WOULD LIKE TO SELL ? THANKS
  19. My pump motor was acting up and wouldn't start unless I stopped and hit it with something! I decided to replace it with a good one I had from a junkyard.I read the shop manual and should have cut the hose about a half inch down on the fitting like I usually do , but the manual said to remove the pin & remove the fitting(elbow)and hose.Bad idea! I couldn't get the fitting out.I also tried on the other pump I had.Ended up breaking both fittings trying to remove them. I ended up borrowing the motor & pump off the other reatta I was driving , as I knew that one was good! I still need the GM PART #25528399 (ELBOW) if ANYONE HAS A SOURCE FOR THIS PART I WOULD APRECIATE IT! dealers in AZ. did not have it (discontinued) THANKS
  20. Thanks I took the belt off again, and spun each pully by itself, and compared it with my 90 Reatta, and determined it to be the water pump! The W P pully was a little loose, and made a grinding noise! I had already replaced it,but that was 70,000 miles ago! My "89" just turned 246,000 miles! THANKS AGAIN
  21. My bearing on my belt tensioner is making noise! It isn't loose yet,but I need to replace it. There isn't much in the manual on this.I see that pulley is sold seperate. My Question is , is the bolt that holds the pulley on right hand,or left hand? & what is the torque on it? Thanks.
