  1. The condition of your bezels ( or any of your brightwork ) is not uncommon, these will be restored and look brand new once-rechromed. They will be dipped and stripped and any imprefections that may still be there ( I doubt there will be any ) will be filled with multiple layers of copper ( or whatever the EPA is allowing them to use these days ) If there any inscriptions on the parts than make sure you note to the plater that you do not want to lose these, if he feels they are so shallow that they may be lost ( again unlikely ) than he will tell you to take the parts to an engraver to have the lettering embossed deeper.

This is all part of a restoration and is in no way uncommon

What is your experience with rechroming parts, the other member said it's easy to tell when something has to be rechromed and that you can lose detail easily. I'm assuming he meant like the lines engraved into the rams horns on the hood ornament.

  2. I see a lot of similarities with my '39. My heater is a "HaDees" as well. You don't see a lot of these cars around, at least not around here. I've only ran into one other '39 Dodge at a local car show, and it had been modified under the hood. I saw one '40 Dodge for sale in a car corral at a local show, and it was pretty rough but restorable.

Hey, do you have any pictures of the restored heater? Even a writeup explanation of it would be great.

  3. I think the !940 Dodge is the classicist car ever built (next to 1938 Dodge). Had one once and sorry I got rid of it. Andy Bernbalm has most of the usual parts you might need. Good luck.( Dodge Brothers should have included it in the club)

I agree, those are the two better looking years in my opinion.

  4. Jason, I must make a small correction to what you said. This forum says "DODGE and Dodge Brothers". Yes....Dodge Brothers cars were only made until 1938, but this forum includes Dodges that are newer. Otherwise, it would only say Dodge Brothers.

Just to add...if you are accessing this forum through the "Dodge Brothers Club", as soon as you go to "Discussion Forum", it splits off into the "Antique Automobile Club of America". Then it includes all Dodges.

Yeah I saw the distinction between Dodge Brothers and Dodge, so I knew there might be some people here who would have one.

  5. Hello Everybody,

This is my first post to the forum and I will be restoring a 1940 Dodge Deluxe, I believe it is a D-14, and I was wondering if anyone could help me out with resources for it. Mainly I'd like to know if anyone has restored a dash on one of these before. Or get in contact with anyone else that has restored similarly this model car. I've attached a picture of what I'll be working with, thanks for reading this!
