  1. That's a great score! Worth eating turds for any day!!
  2. I searched for a long time for a solution to this. Best I could do was squash the last approx 3 inches of the ducting in a vice, just enough to form an even oblong shape, semi bending the wire inner into shape. Then pushing the ducting into the rectangle vents, rather than over. It wants to spring back into a circular shape, creating enough force to hold it in pretty nicely. Trial and error, but I could not find any rectangular ducting. Matt
  3. 25K in a shop for a QUALITY paint job. I could give you a $2500 paint job even easier. I just painted my Riv in my carport over Easter. Waited for a wind free day and wet the floor. It'll do for now. It's a driver. I guess I was ball parking your average old car with usual issues getting a QUALITY body and paint job paying shop hours. All depends what you want and what the car is like to start with. How long's a piece of string
  4. Quite the nightmare in my experience. The rubber is no real problem, but the repro felts / fuzzies are terrible. If yours are even half decent I'd leave them alone
  5. 25K easy on a quality paint job on a 50 plus year old car. Easy
  6. 53 Special Riviera (hardtop) A nice one too!
  7. Great stuff. That's a dream car and color combo for me
  8. Centre stud is the adjustment screw. Loosen the locking nut then use a small flathead to adjust screw. I lubed and lightly loosened all my adj screws, put window in up position. Used some card board pieces to wedge the window fore and aft where needed, then adjusted screws and tightened lock nuts. Repeated a few times, swore plenty, but got there. Hope that helps Matt
  9. I agree. My 63 is silver with the standard silver interior. I like it a lot. Tempted to paint it teal mist or one of the greens. That with silver interior would be very cool
  10. My point was - stock, mild, kustom... whatever way you go what a great looking car the 53 hardtop is I'd go mild custom with a 60's nailhead myself.
  11. That's a great design the 53 2dr HT. What a awesome kustom this would make...
  12. 215 75 15 all good on mine.
  13. Not an Aussie Holden... looks more Aussie Ford - but pretty sure it's not that either. We got these in NZ too
  14. After checking with several auto electricians and local old car guys, I put an MSD Blaster coil in my 63 when overhauling the ignition side of things. No resistors at first because I was told these cars had resistance wires. Burning smell and red hot wiring harness straight away. Same result with resistors. Ordered a new "stock" coil - no problem
  15. What as shame but still a great donor. That really is a striking color scheme
  16. Wow. What a beautiful combo. Is it rusty beyond repair?
  17. Correct Century dual exhaust bumper Rear seats should have X and button Back of front seats correct / original
  18. Hi all Looking for PASSENGER SIDE rear quarter piece. The piece closest to the RH door, leading to the bottom of the RH wheel arch. Roughly 22 inches long 1955 or 1956 CENTURY 66R or SPECIAL 46R 2 door hardtop (54??) Will consider any of the side trim pieces for this model. Thanks!!
  19. I love skirts. Just not on a 50's Buick. It's the full rear wheel opening that sets them apart
  20. Very interesting. Digging thru old threads and other forums seems Chev/GMC used them 56-57 then buses only 58-59. So my engine may have been built 55 then installed 56-59?? Thanks for the help so far! Matt
  21. Disregard the color Keith. It was yellow with chromed covers when I got it. Seems to have different stuff on it, but its an early one. Casting #'s don't seem to narrow it down enough and that # is unlike any I can find. Matt
  22. Hi all Can anyone help identify this engine? This number is from the drivers side of the block between exhaust manifold It's got me stumped!! Thanks
  23. Two pieces I am unsure of on my 63 - the V shape piece at the very front of the hood, and the large 'striped' piece under the rear screen I'm sure what holds mine on are not original..
