Looks that way, until someone tries to hijack the thread (HINT HINT)

Where was it hijacked? No rules. Funny that some people said I'm out of here and they come back. HINT HINT!

The post says, Lets talk about 348 409 stuff-1958 to 1965.

If its close to it, I have no problem with it. Its educational and interesting.

There were only 50 Z-11s built. The shipping manifest from Tonawanda showed 50 QM engines shipped to Flint for production. 20 others were for over the counter sales.

There were actually 4 total black cars:

Mike Lenke - Ed Priester Chevrolet (CA)

Bures Hall - Mancuso Chevrolet (IL)

Jack Cooley - Olivier Chevrolet (LA)

V.P. Hartgrove - Stokes Motor Co. (NC)

    Mark

    I stand corrected.

    Thank you,

    Dave

Just trying to help. If he was, he would have found one by now maybe. Never know. Good luck on the search.

    PS

348/409 forum not a FB page.

My friend has been looking for a 65 409 car with a 4 speed, he is looking for an original protecto-plate car, condition is not as important as number to him.

They do pop up. Have him join my FB page and the 348 409 forum.

There is also a 65 Impala FB page that may help.

Note the jacked up back of the hood on race cars. Heat would just roll out into the plenum area. SCCA made it illegal on Corvettes so I just used 6 inch hood pins and no latches. They outlawed that the next year.

Vette hoods were front hinged. Just say it opened on its own. lol

I don't think is either, but I would not rule anything out until there is more information. Sold one's don't really help when someone is looking for ones currently for sale.

I just posted them for reference. They showed up on my FB 409 page when they were for sale. About one a year shows up for sale.

    Hey Ed,

Your buddy's 66 is a nice car! I wish him good luck with it.

On the 65, I can't see much detail on the photos, they were taken too far away from the car. From the photos it looks like an original interior. I have a friend of mine that has to have a 65 409 car. He has one now but it is a 340 HP powerglide, he wants a four speed. It is an interesting car to say the least. I did notice that there is an AM/FM, tilt, and a wood wheel in it as well. My friend said he is going to call tomorrow and get some better photos and the engine number. I realize that the 65's are low production, but seldom is one ever seen for sale.

I do not think this is an original 409 car. Here are a few that have sold.

I wonder if some just put on the 2X4's on an original 340 HP engine? It has factory A/C, I am pretty sure that you could not get A/C on a 400 HP engine, 340 only. I would have to check when I get upstairs.  It is a very highly optioned 65

AC was never optioned on the solid lift W. Only through the back door or a mule car.

The 62 409 below ran low 7s in the 1/4 in the late 80s.
