  1. Thank you! Nice idea! I'll ask him!
  2. Oh! Lastly - Would there be one Key for both Ignition and Passenger Door Lock? Or, two Keys, one for each?
  3. Ahhh, okay, thanks! I'll let Seller know. Wish me luck he can find them!
  4. "Both Markings" meaning, the Keys - if original - would say "Studebaker" on them?
  5. I bought a 1928 Studebaker President some while back, and now it is being transported to me finally from Delaware, to Kansas. Seller can not find the Keys. Can anyone here tell me if the Keys would have had anything distinctive to help seller identify them? Car came from an old Estate which has several "Boxes or Drawers of Keys" of all different kinds, and if the Keys to my Car would have anything to identify them design wise or shape or if they said "Studebaker" it might help. Seller is still finding "Boxes of Keys" but my Car is now on the way to me, so he no longer has any way to try them in the Door or Ignition. Thanks! Phil
  6. I'll run this past the Seller, see if he or someone he knows can do...that'd solve the Coolant question just fine! Rotor out is a nice idea...good thought! I do not know if they will find the Keys for un-authorized start to get to be a possibility ( other than Hot Wire ), an older Family member said the Car when Garaged always had the Keys in the Ignition, but, the Keys are not there, so, Seller is looking for them and asking relatives and so on, hoping to find them...I sure hope he does find them, since that would be one less 'sub project' for me, as well as I would prefer to have the original Keys of course. I told him to check the Ash Trays...fingers crossed he finds them somewhere!
  7. I do not expect it to fight me, Lol, but, I do expect to spend 100 + Hours methodically going through things one thing at a time... Transport as is, would of course be for a non-Running Car, so I guess they Electric Winch it in to the Enclosed Trailer or Truck. I can not head out to Delaware for being obligated here at Home in ways where no one else can fill in...so...sigh. Otherwise, I'd be there already and prepping things for start and run for Transport Ease.
  8. It is in Hockessin, Delaware. Just did a Google Map distance thing, and New Castle is 19 minutes from there...Wilmington is 17 Minutes drive. Can you message me these Members info? I am sending in my Membership Application tomorrow, or, I might call and do it over the 'phone ( for the 'Antique Studebaker Club' ) Thanks Gary! Phil
  9. If he can find someone able to do it, that'd work very nicely...good thought!
  10. It's an FBW-3, so, 121 inch Wheel Base, 5 Passenger Sedan, same Engine and Mechanicals of course as the longer 7 Passenger ones...rear Mount Spare...Wood Spoke Wheels... Am joining the Club as we speak..!
  11. Good thinking! Makes sense. I have seen it also where the Petcock for Radiator and Block both were clogged, and pushing a Wire or whatever through only helped for a few moments. Usually I'd just remove the bottom Radiator Hose and Thermostat Housing and Back flush the living daylights out of it all, and go from there...I think I still have an old Zeus or who-ever made it Garden Hose deal for a Compressed Air line to fit in, for back flushing...those old devices sure worked well..!
  12. Oh yeahhh! So true!...that and grab Big ends and quick test clearances...on and on...and on to the rest of the 140 Hours or so of "To Do". At least no hints of leak or seep in the Engine photos anyway, not for Oil or Coolant. Engine and Engine Auxilary things will come first though, since I am tossing and turning at night wanting to HEAR it run! Have my checkered Aluminum T Handle 1920s Two Pin Alemite Grease Gun ready and rarin' to go...got my Owners Manual in the Mail today showing all the Grease Gun, Grease Cup, and Oil points, along with how often to hit them.
  13. What an interesting Engine! What is that Engine in? Here is an image I have of the Engine in mine - It might have a Drain Cock for the Water Pump...just can't tell in the images have.
  14. Car has been sitting since 1955...free breathing System, no idea how much Coolant has evaporated over time. Might not be any way to reach existing Coolant with the Testing Device tube if things have evaporated down a ways. If he adds Water or adds Prestone, there's no way to circulate either, to bring level up of exsting Solution, to be reached by the Tester, since Car is not running. I can ask him to unscrew the Radiator Cap and look in with a Flashlight...and if Low, to just add Prestone, and hope for the best...but I just wanted to feel sure. Probably there is a Radiator Drain Petcock on the inside Bottom of the Radiator, but I do not know...if there is, maybe he or someone he can have help, could open the Petcock, drain out some in to a Cup, then test that sample. I remember some old Cars had a Radiator Drain Petcock and also a Petcock to drain the Block...if this Car has those, he could just drain the Coolant out, close Pet cocks, add Prestone with no circulation, and that would likely do...
