  2. I enjoyed this CL ad for an off-road Reatta. Apparently this Reatta has successfully participated in the Gambler 500 off-road rally aka Navigation-Adventure Challenge. https://portland.craigslist.org/wsc/cto/6682594854.html My question...if they seller has run the rally since "year one", and this is the only vehicle to get him back home without the aid of a tow truck...why sell it???   4. Since Labor Day marks the un-official end to summer, I thought I would take the Reatta to the "beach" for a photo shoot.
  5. Is the car parked on a flat surface? I had this problem when trying to operate the top when parked on my sloped driveway... When I pulled in the garage everything worked properly.
  6. Sorry for "slacking" and not posting the final chapter on this issue sooner... My auto care provider diagnosed the schizophrenic high idle as a faulty ECM. After replacement with a Delco re-manufactured unit the issue was cured!
  7. Just noticed that the Brake Presure Accumulator for our Teves systems price has dropped just under $100. It's time for me to snag one! (I have no affiliation with The Reatta Store....but that is where I found the deal.)
  8. A repair shop owner that I know swears by Bon-Ami and 0000 steel wool. Just make sure that you rinse well when you are finished.

  11. Is there supposed to be a gasket that goes between the mounting base of the Idle Air Control (IAC) and the surface that it mounts to on the throttle body? Yes, I know about the round rubber ring that slides over the IAC, but wondering about another mounting gasket. Any thoughts? Thanks.
  12. Thanks Gents! This is a good list to work on. The problem re-occurred on the second of two 70 degree days. The IAC is relatively new, so I suspect a vacuum leak. It's time to do some "bonding" with the engine compartment, or seek professional help (for the car...that is, although I could probably use it too!)
  13. It hit 70 in the great northwest today...so time for a top-down cruise! The car hadn't been started for a few weeks, but started promptly (like usual). However, the car went to an idle speed of 2500 and stayed there for the first 3 plus miles. Then the idle speed went to around 1500 and stayed there for the next couple of miles. We stopped at our destination, and the car sat for 30 minutes, then restarted with normal idle speed. Any ideas on what is going on?

    Ferrari

    Good stuff! The gas station employee at the local Costco was sure my convertible was a Ferrari. Then there was the real estate agent (who drives a Jaguar) was certain I had a Jag too!!! Go figure!?!?
  15. The snow and rain have finally stopped in Portland, so I took the convertible out for a winter cruise! I noticed that ED16 (Spark Angle) never moved off of "0" the whole drive, whether at idle or at 60, or anywhere in between. So what is the Spark Angle? And, is it normal to be at "0" all of the time? The book says the normal range is 0 to 45 There are no "codes", and the only issue I have with the car is poor (low) idle. Thanks gang! 1990 Reatta

  17. If you can't reach it from the top.... Remove RF wheel and "weather flap" behind wheel for free access.

There is a tool available, but I didn't find it very helpful. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005DTKNZU/ref=oh_details_o04_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 The factory "hold down's" have a tab and can be opened up and then closed over the wire bundle and new loom. I suspect the project is easier in warmer weather when the loom is fairly pliable. Good luck!
  19. Hey Richard. I purchased the hi-temp loom from this ebay seller... http://stores.ebay.com/tiesforless/ I was pleased with the seller. I purchased 1/4, 1/2" and 1" and have been slowly replacing the old brittle stuff.
  20. Kingsley is THE MAN! My 90 Vert has had "sagging" visor clips since day one of my ownership (two years ago). I contacted Kingsley about possibly purchasing two new clips, but told him that the sagging clips were purchased from him and installed by the previous owner. Long story short, Kingsley very kindly send me the installation instructions and I discovered that the "PO" had incorrectly installed the clips. All in all it cost me a trip to the hardware store for new screws and washers. (The washers were my innovation...I purchased nylon fender washers and heated them up with a heat gun so t

  22. I need help with a low / rough idle, which is especially bad when idling in gear with foot on brake. The car has 135,000 miles and runs great other than the idle issue. I have recently installed the following parts… New Plugs & Wires New Coil Pack & Ignition Control Module New Idle Air Control Cleaned MAF and cleaned all battery cables Here is the data from the IPC…the first number is idling in park, the second number is idling in gear with foot on brake (and my teeth rattling) ED01 Throttle Position .40 / .40 ED04 Coolant Temperature 95 / 92 ED06 Injector Pulse Width 4.0 to 4.3
  23. For what it is worth...my Alfa buddy had his top replaced by the folks at Beaverton Auto Upholstery. Their work looks great.
