  1. Congratulations on graduating from medical school!!
  2. Wow, that's amazing, a cable actuated gas gauge. I've never messed with early (pre-1950s) cars so didn't know that was done. Was the old float balsa wood too? How did you coat the inside of the hole thru the balsa wood with the SIG dope? I've been really enjoying your posts, looking forward to more!
  3. Not mine, saw on Facebook Marketplace, complete chassis and drive train for 1940 Studebaker Commander, located in Pahrump, NV, price listed $500. Link: 1940 Commander Chassis & Drivetrain
  4. For sure, I wouldn't click on that link they have hidden under the word "shop".
  5. Are those the same gears that were in the pump when you sent it to Egge, or did they replace one?
  6. Looking forward to following this thread also!
  7. For sure Frank, lots of variables! I didn't know that some vacuum advances have an air bleed. Mine still moves the arm, but just doesn't maintain a constant vacuum once pumped up. I'll check to see if there is some sort of air bleed hole on the cannister.
  8. Thanks Kornkurt and wyankee, I'll check them out.
  9. The goal here is to get the advance 'rebuilt' with a new diaphragm, so it mounts and works as original. Not interested in engineering a retrofit.
  10. No, not that are known, which is why we are investigating a rebuild.
  11. I have a distributor vacuum advance from an early sixties Nissan Patrol that is non-operational. NOS advances are crazy expensive IF they can be found, which is rarely. And then you still have a 60 year old diaphragm. I've searched on this forum and found very little, and a couple of companies mentioned are no longer in business. Looking for recommended companies that rebuild vacuum advances -- preferably companies that you have dealt with successfully. Thanks in advance (no pun intended ) for any help you can provide!

  19. Thanks for posting the Channelock crimper. I have several other brands, but have never been very happy with them. Will get a pair of the Channelocks.
  20. Nice work. Impressed with the spring you made for the carb! Did you purchase a full wiring harness from a company, or are you making it all yourself?
  21. That is BEAUTIFUL Jeff!! Great work.
  22. Thanks for the great reports, you sure have been busy! This is a very interesting thread, especially like the good pics. Also, thanks for the tip about the thick shrink wrap from McMaster-Carr, I'm going to get some of that.
  23. That's what I call quick paint stripping! I would never have thought to use wood chisels.
