  1. Thank you, but I was able to find one that was only across the country in CA. haha! Appreciate the note.
  2. Looking for a cylinder head for a 1936 Dodge D2. Thank you! Or suggestions for a good stitch repair mechanic near NC.
  3. 1936 Dodge - 4 Door Sedan Front Left (Drivers) Door, some rust at the bottom of door panel $250 plus shipping from Burlington, NC
  4. jpage, That sounds like a lot of work!!! (isn't everything) Thank you for the suggestion. I'm hoping someone has an easier solution as I wanted to paint the housing and replate the bezel for both tail lights.
  5. I need some help/instructions on removing the tail light bezel. We were able to get the lens out, but need to remove the bezel to sand and paint. Any help would be appreciated.
  6. 1930, haven't forgot about you and will try to get the pictures of the tools to you in a couple of weeks when I take a few days off!! All the best!
  7. 1936 D2, Thank you for following up! I no longer have the problem of my Dodge not starting when it is hot. I think the main culprit of my problem was my fuel pump, because shortly after my post, the car would stop running after about 10 minutes of driving. I decided to replace the fuel pump and things are fine now. In addition, I have also replaced the battery, plugs, plug wires, points, condensor and distributor cap just to be safe. So I think it is the combination of all of the above that have helped me, but my guess is that the fuel pump was the main driver since once it got hot, it didn't perform well and just got worse and worse. It worked fine when it was cold. Slow progress, the deck lid is done and the passenger rear fender is done and now we are just driving it around until the weather warms back up and my father in law can move to the passenger front fender. We are keeping it drivable during the "restoration". Next on the list is a new wiring harness for the entire car. Any suggestions on where to look? Rhode Island Wiring was mentioned. I'm sure I'll be back in touch once we run into some challenges.
  8. Does anyone have a picture of the 1936 "Dodge Blue" on a car that they can post?
  9. 1936 D2 - Great pictures. Thank you! Do you know if there is a translation to current day paint manufacturers from the dupont color chart you posted? What color is the car you posted several posts up (the "gray" 4 door)? http://forums.aaca.org/attachments/f143/87101d1304301902-interior-colors-1936-dodge-d2-4dr-touring-sedan
  10. The gray corduroy is a seat cover. The original seats are the taupe/beige color. 1936 D2, I noticed that one of your cars has a gray interior, was this personal preference or an original option?
  11. Still a novice here, but my guess on the lug nut wrench with the tappered end was it was used to hold the wheel in place when putting the wheel on the car since the hubs don't have threads and bolts are used. Mine fit perfectly into the holes on the wheel.
  12. It must be quite a job to install a headliner like this. I'll be looking for some professional help when that time comes (most likely down the road a little bit). I'm going to re-examine my headline to see if I can determine where it was nailed..... I still have the card stock for the rear sail panels (just removed them yesterday)! It was impressive to see all of the fine craftsman ship that went into the interior (still obvious, despite the state of the material). My roof only has rubber bumpers on the roof bolts on the back, were these present on all roof bolts? jpage, thanks for all your time on the phone the other night.
  13. 1930 - Here are all the tools I have come across. Not sure which ones actually belong. I believe the jack is original (the short stubby one) along with the tire iron shaped like a bent L. I'm not sure which longer bar goes with it. There was also a bumper jack in the trunk, but I don't think that is original. I'm assuming the tire iron that is an X is not original. For fun, I have included a couple of shots of the spare tire, which appears to be original (both tire and rim). I have included a close up shot of the detail painting on the tire. I'm not sure why the decorative paint stood up over all these years, but the rest of the wheel rusted. What color was the rest of the wheel?
  14. My headliner....., followed by a picture of the original wood grain rear vent window garnish molding
  15. 1936 D2, When you say original interior, do you mean the interior that was put in the car when it was first sold, or it has all been replaced with like original material? If it is the original interior that came from the factory, I would love to hear how it stayed so nice. Especially if the "original one" is the same one of the vent windows that you provided a link to in my other post. Mine is all original as well, but it is rotten and will have to be replaced. I bumped my head on the rubber protectors that were on the roof screws that you referred to in your post to Grumpyone about the roof. They are still very soft. Do you know if the first several support ribs for the headliner (first four starting from the front going back) went the entire length of the roof. I'm assuming they did, but mine were about 8 to 10 inches long and looked to have a clean cut on them which either someone did after they broke or it was factory. I started to guess that maybe it was the same metal for the headliner for the 1935 that didn't have the metal roof insert and there was some other way for the headliner to stay attached to the roof. The final two supports were still clipped to the roof with the clips (in tact) and the metal rods were the entire width of the roof. We also figured out that they must have put the support ribs in first, then the trim pannels on the sides, then fastened the rest of the headliner and then put the trim strip above the doors. As an aside, did you have your wood grain redone, and if so, was it by Benny Estes? If so, my father in law was a close personal friend of his and even accompanied him to Carlise on a couple of occasions I believe.
  16. 1936 D2, Thanks again. I know what the original color is as the interior trunk still has it showing in very good shape, it is one of the gray's. Also, I saw the original color of the interior when I took the sun visors down off the header panel this weekend. My question is, if I decide to change it to Dodge Blue (as the gray color really does look like primer) were there other interior options or where they all the light brown color. The headliner that you pointed me to seems like a decent price, I'm just wondering if I will be able to match the rest of the interior to an ordered headliner, or if I would be better off just getting everything done at one place, because I understand that interior trim panels are not available and will have to be done at an upolstery shop. Thank you sir!
  17. 1936 D2 - I live in Burlington, NC. My dad bought the car in (near) Pittsburg from the original owner in 1960. It has since traveled to CT, SC and NC. Interestingly enough, it has resided about three miles from the Steele Rubber Company in Denver NC for the last 13 years. I'm hoping my brother has a way to get wholesale prices!! I've always said my father was a pack rat and saved everything (usually giving him grief), but when cleaning out the trunk we found the upper interior trim pannels for the front doors (the skinny piece that goes up by the window) and found a bag of buttons from the seats and trim pannels. All of the interior is original, but rotton. I even noticed for the first time ever, the hardware for the shade that goes over the back window. Yes, it still had that hardware. I don't know that I'm missing a single interior piece, so hopefully that will make replicating them a little easier. Even the dome light cover is there and the dome light works! Simply amazing. Thank you for your assistance.
  18. Amigo, Did you ever get your problem resovled? I have a 1936 D2 as well that doesn't start when it is warm. You too?
  19. Thank you 1936 D2. Good day today, took the headliner out and cleaned out the trunk, only two rats nests! It has the original spare tire, I'll post the pictures later. 1930 - I have the jack and jack arm and tire iron. None of the wrenches. Best of all, it is cleaned up enough that my wife is willing to ride in it! Took the family to get ice cream today!
  20. I'm researching interior color options for my 1936 Dodge D2 4Dr. I'm leaning towards the Dodge Blue (which I've also seen listed in Limosine Blue). Is there a source of reference where I can look at interior colors and determine if the exterior color limited the interior colors. The original material in this car is a light brown/tan. It is completely rotten, although the rear passenger trim pannel is in good enough shape to replicate. It still has the buttons on it that holds one of the decorative trim borders about four inches below the window. Thank you!
  21. 1936 D2, your pictures helped on the door check arm (I am teachable!!). My mounting brackets (up against the body) are broken off, but apparently there is a replacement/repair part that you can reweld onto the body. Did you have to do that? Let the games begin, I ordered a radiator cap, owners manual and door lock spring today, running total for fixing up the car $58. I'm sure I will get advice to not keep a running total!! This weekend, clean out the car, remove the headliner (it is rotten) and check the door alignment! I really appreciate everyone's help and if I have further questions, which I'm sure I will, I'll start a new post with a specific question.
  22. Thank you Dodge KCL. A couple of follow up questions: 1) I was talking about the door stops (the hardware that keeps the doors from swinging open into the body. I can't (actually my father in law) seem to figure out how to remove them from the body as there doesn't appear to be access to the "A" post (where it attaches at the front of the door). Any ideas or did Jack M's response address it (I haven't had time to look at this again). We have the interior pannels off and can reach the door side of the stop. 2) On the venti pane frames, were those originally chrome? I'm guessing so since that is what you recommended and it would make sense to match the windshield, but I wanted to verify. Neighther side has any remnant of chrome or color on the frame, just a nice rust color! Thanks again!
  23. Wow, I'm overwhelmed by the knowledge and kindness of everyone. You guys are great! I have the rear vent windows, but the frame is just about rusted out, can this be used as a template to be fabricated? I'll email Mr. James about the front window channels. They are intact, but again some rust.
  24. I'll have to check the trunk for tools. Cleaning out the trunk is my project for this weekend. On another note, any idea on how to get the door stops out of the body? I have two that are broken and will need to be removed. Thanks!
