  1. I recently registered a 1937 Ford in original condition with out of state title. I had no problems getting an Illinois title for the car or registering it. I applied for Antique Automobile license plates and I recieved them in quick order--no inspection what so ever. And that is in Cook County, where if they can squeeze another nickle out of you they would. No inspection, no hoops. Your source of information must be mistaken. I was unaware that anything had changed. Seemed like the same old routine. I paid Illlinois Tax, Cook County Tax, city vehicle sticker, title fee and Antique Auto License plates. Can you post a link to these "changes" in Illinois Antique Auto Registration? PP
  2. Looks like the Topper Car from the 1937 Movie "Topper."
  3. Not much snow here in the Chicago/NW Indiana region lately and I am glad of it. I hate the stuff. It makes my outdoor job ten times more difficult. I often notice that people who lament the lack of snow are generally people who do not have to work in it. If we continue to have these mild winters here in the midwest I just might stay when I retire.
  4. 1973 Buick Electra 225 4DR Hardtop Sedan Without permission about 1976. Glad nothing happened. PP
  5. I use all ten. I took typing in High School. Glad I did. I can type pretty fast now.
  6. I should have kept this 1971 Cadillac Sedan DeVille. I did not need to sell it; I did not need the money. The guy who bought it from me was very happy. My wife found this car for me when she was just my girlfriend. Well, I kept the girl, but I should have kept the car too.
  7. Can anybody recommend an outfit that restores Antique Auto horns? I am not ready to do it yet, but in the future I am probably going to have my horns rebuilt. It's a safety issue. Looking for an outfit that can restore 1937 Ford V-8 horn.
  8. My father had a 1937 Ford when I was very young, then a 1953 Chevrolet, then a 1941 Buick. And now here I am.
  9. I had the Roman Numeral LXXIII for my 1973 Cadillac Coupe DeVille. Most were baffled by it. I am looking forward to getting a 1940 Buick with MCMXL.
  10. 1934 Ford comes in Roadster (no roll up side windows) and Cabriolet (with roll up side windows). A properly maintained Ford can be driven clear across the country.
  11. Bill, you might want to consider writing book on the subject. It would be marketable to a variety of historians and enthusiasts. Publishers are interested in good WWII US Homefront books, especially exhaustively researched reference books. I am a WWII history author with my own homefront reference book that has been published and is available right now (it is in it's second printing). You should try my publisher: McFarland & Co. Inc., Jefferson, NC. Good luck. PP.
  12. Hang in there Jack. Go for the Old Buicks. You'll be driving that old Buick while your friends are still dreaming about six-figure sport cars.
  13. I saw the Eldo on Friday. Same old lady driving. Car still looks great. Haven't seen her walking lately though.
  14. I always liked early 70s Cadillac and Buick. Here is a 1973 Coupe deVille I once owned. I also owned the 1976 Coupe deVille that can be partially seen in the photo.
  15. Yeah, man. Amen DavidAU-- Love them Flathead Fords. Good luck.
  16. I love my 1937 Ford Fordor. The 1937 is the best looking pre-war Ford. PP
  17. See the link: The link has failed. Sorry. The Beech C-45 airplane in the photo was manufactured in 1945. I tried to provide some back story on this but the link has failed. PP
  18. Yep, "cherry" and "mint" are over used by people who don't know any better. A restored auto can never be "mint"--try telling that to some one who uses the term often. They often have no concept that mint refers to uncirculated coins. And Cherry (I think this term has sexual origins), doesn't that refer to a virginal, unmolested car? Most times the car doesn't live up to the virgin reputation and has been ... PP
