PA gas is always expensive. I bring a big toter home and always fill up at the state line when doing shows in PA. Usually saves me 40-60 bucks per fill up.

I love the logic from the complainers saying vendors MUST stay the entire time and how pissed they are, yet won't walk a row that is 50% filled. So the vendor that DOES stay the entire time, you won't walk down to see them because the row is only 50% full? What type of logic is that? I try not to judge people on golf carts or whatever they're using to move around. I was at our booth almost the entire time and only had an hour to walk the car corral 1 time over 4 days. I wanted to use my electric scooter so I could efficiently do it and get back to my booth, but was denied, so I walked it which was fine.
It cost us 5-6k to attend hershey. No matter the ROI, we'll be there every year going forward. We had 2 vans parked in our spot, as well as our hauling rig. We had all of them full by the time we left. We do not stay on the grounds and need transportation in/out. Hershey is what you make of it. If you want it be a miserable complaining festival, I'm sure you can do that. However, it's the only show of the year where so many diverse backgrounds come together to celebrate automotive history. I always meet amazing people with incredible stories and see cars I've never seen before. No show is perfect, but if you can't find something to love about Hershey, stay home.

Context matters. I can't blame a vendor for not wanting to setup with 3 days of rain in a row. If you don't get setup on Monday, it is really challenging to get to your spot if you're driving anything of size. I can understand someone staying home and saving on expenses vs being there for 3 days with crap weather which limits customers. Today the weather was great and it was very busy. A lot of new vendors came in today.

Always looking for signs. Pre 1970, no collection too big or too small to purchase. Will have cash ready to spend. Yes, I'm mopar focused but will purchase almost any subject matter. High condition or rare preferred but not required. C4K 18-25 will be where I'm setup. Will have around 35-40 signs for sale. TBD on what those will be.

Large items tend to be more difficult to sell. Most of the advice here is solid. You need to post pictures, you can edit them to so nobody knows where it is. Nowhere near enough info to give value without seeing condition/size.

Where is/was that?
One thing people mistake, is assuming the auction market is the sign market. We keep a significant amount of private inventory for private shoppers. This year we'll likely match our auction top line revenue, with private transactions. As car guys are realizing the value, interest has grown significantly. I think we're in the early stages of what the sign market can be. There are WAY more car guys than sign guys at this point. You don't need a significant percentage in order to swing the needle pretty far. I just love seeing all the new discoveries and learning the history of so many companies.

Signs are considerably cheaper than cars. No maintenance, taxes, dmv, breakage, leakage and take up way less room. We hand deliver a significant part of our inventory, making it easy on the buyer. I’ve hung over 1k pieces in my place, only the big neons take some planning.

Every item we sell is guaranteed authentic. You can analyze signs for chemical breakdown which makes dating easy. Very very few fakes are close to what the originals look like anyways. One of the reason we bring the big numbers is the verification of the items and accurate grading/descriptions.

They were all factory imperfections pretty much. Could argue it was 9.5-9.75 if you don't count factory defects into it. The gloss and shelving was insane. It is paid for and will be delivering it within 2 weeks

Oh and I collect signs but this is getting ridiculous. Most expensive sign in my collection cost me $600 and is 40 foot long and Neon. Not that I don't think some are worth more, but really over a million bucks?
The people bidding in this range, aren't make that choice, they already have the Duesenburg if that's what they want. The previous record price before this was 400k for a fully restored Jubilee at BJ this year. That to me is more ridiculous as at least this was an NOS piece.

Correct, that's why this one was so special. It was NOS. Avoided the septic tank treatment and only had factory flaws.

The best signs are slowly being seen as art by some collectors. Incredible weekend and thankful I was apart of this record setting event.

We also keep a significant amount of private inventory for shoppers who don't want to do auctions. I knew we had quite a few pump plates and other smalls, so I got them out and started hanging. 5 hours later this is where I stopped.

I found an additional 200 or so from this. The chrysler pile is on my wall in the museum now. I didn't go through all of them as it's 100's of pieces, but plenty date back 80 years

There is a big range for sure. We try to only focus on rare or very high condition. We also have the best delivery system in the game so our buyers bid with confidence.

They made this sign in 4 different sizes. They should be left as is, with a can, wiring and neon built. I have the largest Mopar automobila collection in the country and I'd love to talk to you about them. There were two main manufactures of this sign. You can tell the difference by where the break point is in the sign. One was down at the lower part, like yours. The other broke about halfway down.
Condition drives value. The above poster isn't wrong on value, but I think you're closer to the bottom of that number vs the top given the condition once completed. I have 2 of the 4 versions in the museum. You can see both of them in this video, one at :20 and the other at :40:
