  1. I lifted this from a fellow Broker's newsletter because it deserves to get some exposure - This article from Olympian Cars, Eric Killorin reports on a very important Duesenberg donated to the ACD Museum. Click here.
  2. Make your new year extra happy by adding this beauty to your collection!
  3. I'm starting to feel very old I was four in 1964. I came from a family of eleven and my parents always told us the TV was broken (we kids practically lived at the library across the street). I remember it working only sporadically - when Nixon left the White House, when man landed on the moon, and strangely enough every once in awhile football games on Sunday. Elections were always a time of great mystery for us as neither my mother or father would tell us - or each other - who they voted for. That's one way to keep the peace.
  4. I just read the lushmore article. The LBJ story is just too funny. What a great use for the Secret Service.
  5. I think the Avanti was a subliminal dig at Goldwater. But a customized Jag. Who woulda thought? And you are right. That is one car you would want in your collection. Very cool.
  6. Well I just sent a query to the Gilmore Museum. Next on the list the Henry Ford Museum. Thanks John 348. Also I see you are a member of the VCCA and I have a few cars that might interest you. Can't let a lead just pass me by😊 James R - do tell about the Goldwater cars. I am not familiar with them.
  7. Yes they must have run it in their newsletter because it has only been on a few days and it already has 1088 hits. Fingers crossed it attracts a buyer.
  8. I am so glad this car is evoking good memories. And contacting the Gilmore is now on my list of things to do. Thank you for that idea.
  9. If anyone wants to be on my newsletter shoot me an e-mail at kelly@exceptionalcarbroker.com I do get all kinds of great cars to represent - one car was just invited to be featured in the NASCAR Hall of Fame - the Cale Yarborugh Junior Johnson 1977 Oldsmobile. It heads to the museum in January and I will be there for the induction.
  10. @plymouthcranbrookThat made me laugh so hard. One time I had my elderly mother under the winner's circle tent at Hershey when they announced the then Governor was coming to the podium to announce the winners. This particular Governor was pretty hard on teachers in PA and one of her five daughters was a teacher. My mother couldn't see over the crowd so when a gentleman standing next to us said, "Is that him?" She replied loudly, "I don't know. Does he look like an a****e?" Zing mom.
  11. Being a research geek I was actually going to check with the research library before changing it. So thank you for the update. I am glad people are loving this car though and commenting on it with such positive comments.
  12. The owner has reduced the price of this fabulous car to $150,000.00 US! Offered for sale here is Harry S. Truman's Lincoln Cosmopolitan Limousine. The personal Limousine of the underestimated Democrat that went from underdog to champion in the 1949 presidential election!Own a piece of history of the President that, despite the push back from conservatives, was able to implement not just NATO but the Fair Deal, an ambitious plan which included national medical insurance, federal housing programs, a higher minimum wage, assistance for farmers, increases in Social Security and civil rights reforms.Remember when Presidents were Presidents and got things done. Carry on this man's memory in one of Truman's super-special, custom-built, oversize Lincoln Limousine's - one of a fleet of ten built for lease to the White House. This big car has special running boards for Secret Service men, and a shiny, padded leather top with sufficient headroom for high silk hats.Be the head of the parade after the next election in this historic vehicle and motor into the future with a new sense of hope and purpose. Truman *Built at the behest of the White House *One of only a handful surviving, most of which are in museum collections This specially bodied limousine is one of the nine custom-built 1950 Lincolns built at the behest of the 33rd President of the United States, Harry S. Leased to the Government by Ford Motor Co., the 1950 Lincoln Presidential Limousines replaced the aging pre-World War II White House fleet Truman inherited when he ascended to the presidency after Franklin D. 15. This beautiful MGTD is the recipient of a restoration done by the past owner. In superb condition the MG TD is a 1,250cc XPAG 4-cylinder engine, which sends its 54hp to the rear wheels via a 4-speed manual transmission. The engine in this TD, though not original, has less than 100 miles on it. Recent work has included a thorough engine run through and new carbs as well as the gas tank dropped and cleaned so that is drives flawlessly. The interior is in very good condition and the car comes with It comes with a half top, full top and a canvas top as well as the windows which have never been used.. This rust free, solid car wants for nothing and is ready to join any vintage rally and touring event. $27,000.00 obo Email Kelly@classictag.net for more photos
  16. Yes there are scammers on this site and every automobile site in the world. That's why I always post about them. A bunch of really bad guys in England are now doing time in the UK. Unfortunately there is still one guy in the group on the loose in CA. But if we let them know we are on to them and alert people to their nefarious activities we are doing some damage to their operation. I called out the UK guys loudly on the Alfa forum - ABC Brokers. One time they tried to sell me a car that was sitting on the floor at Algar Ferrari here in Philadelphia. I was so happy to read they went to prison.
  17. A client recently sent an e-mail from two guys looking for Austin Healey's and other British cars. It was signed Tim & Jay with the phone number 310-362-0815. I've received the same e-mail and when I started asking who they were they disappeared. But my client is a nice guy and he was pretty excited because they sounded like real buyers. I googled the number. It's a scam. Number 3103630815 reportsSCAM/SPAM SUSPECTED Air-cooled Pcar guy • Posted 18 Oct 2019 Sent me an email looking for a classic air-cooled car or BMW. Had no idea who the hell Chris (who supposedly referred him to me) was, but "Chris'" email was CC'd: chris.treasurer1958@gmail.com. Thought it might have been someone in my local car club. Here's the email: This is Jay. Chris (here in copy of this message) referred me to you. I restore and collect mostly German cars and I'm looking to buy a Porsche 356 or 911 air-cooled. I'm also interested on a 70's to 90's BMW, E9, 2002Tii, M3, 850 etc... I will consider any condition, from a project to a driver or concours. Please let me know if you can help and do not hesitate to email or call back with any advises. PS: i'm always interested in buying used/OEM parts for European classic/sports cars. Not always easy to find the right part at the right moment. Sincerely, Jay & James 310-363-0815 • Reply • Call type: OtherJust Me • Posted 28 Jun 2019 Just received same email, looking to buy a classic car, with this phone number in it. Sure looks like a scam. The writer used poor grammar and misused words. The email purports to come from "timmcdowall6@gmail.com" and copies "Chris.Treasurer1958@gmail.com." And it said "reference Tim." Yet it was signed by Tim and my first name. In theory, it would be from Tim and Chris. Too many negative signs. I'm not selling my car anyway! • Reply • Call type: Scam SuspicionJoe C. • Posted 19 Jun 2019 Called about purchasing a car from me for export to France. No indication of scam. Legitimate businessman. • Reply • Call type: OtherGreg • Posted 02 Jun 2019 Sent me email saying referred by Bob (?). Interested in British classic cars for restoration. Didn't respond and blocked email address. • Reply • Call type: OtherHarlan • Posted 11 Apr 2019 They say they spoke with me in the past about doing work on my house. • Reply Clinton, Bill • Posted 11 Apr 2019 Possible fraud • Reply
  18. Thanks. Marcel De Ley just died last June at the age of 89. That would mean he was born in 1929 and thus too young to have built the body in 1931. He also moved to the states and had a metal craft company based in CA. Interesting guy though. His sons still have a shop in CA. So thank you for introducing the possibility.
  19. Well now that you mention it - it is a cute post.
