  1. I did a quick search on Google Maps of the location on the post card and it appears that Woodbridge Ford does not exist. I would suggest a few things. As I mentioned to TAKerry start with known owners and work backwards if possible. A Mustang in a French town would certainly attract attention. What were the circumstances of the purchase? Is there a name on any document at all to get you started? How do you know the car came from this dealership?
  2. Not anywhere near cold! Have you Googled his name in the town where the insurance company was located? How did you obtain the car? The person that sold the car to you might be able to give you information on the person that sold the car to him. You can start to follow the line of ownership that way. Are there car clubs for your particular car? You can put a request in their newsletter and on their forum to see if anyone recognizes the car or one of the past owner's names.
  3. Research is a big part of my job as a broker and I have been involved with several projects where an owner has hired me to find the history of their cars. Cars built in the 50's and up are of course easier then prewar cars to find the past owners as there is a chance the past owners are still alive. I do check obituaries before making calls though. I am not worried about the cars being stolen as you mentioned. Just that perhaps you are making an insensitive call that could have been avoided. The car I am most proud of researching was a 1935 Lagonda M45 Rapide. Based on the only clue my client had, a mechanics bill from 1935, with a name written in Old English, I was able to identify every owner from the first to the present. Six owners in all with the first being Laura Henderson, the owner of the Windmill Theatre in London. The most disappointing project was the research I conducted for a client that was certain his car, a 1950 Jaguar XK120, ran in the Daytona Speed Trials and that it was driven by a woman. Sounds easy enough but not when you factor in the woman never registered for the actual race. Long story very short one day I received an email from a woman in England that had seen my request for information on a forum. She wrote to tell me that the woman I was looking for was her aunt and that she was in a nursing home in England. She invited us to put together a list of questions and her uncles would put the questions to their sister when they visited again in two weeks time. The woman died one week before we were able to ask our questions. And finally I have been searching for the Max Hoffman dealership records for about five years now. Some searches never end.
  4. jcrow thank you for that. I deal with a lot of prewar cars and each is different so what you told me about the V-16's is very helpful. Thanks and I will shoot you an email now.
  5. Thank you. There is also a V-16 survivor database that is an excellent resource for leads. That is actually where I found Rick LeForge's name.
  6. Google is certainly my friend. That is how I found his name. But it does not tell you if the information you are reading is current or unfortunately if the person you are seeking is still alive. I wonder where all the research material goes when historian passes away? He had an excel file of many of the V-16's.
  7. I have just started a search for a client that would like to purchase a V-16 (he is not particular about the model) that is either a complete project, an older restoration or never restored. I would be interested in anything anyone has to offer. On another note I have come across the name Rick LeForge several times as an authority on these cars but I can not find any contact information for him. Does anyone know anything about Mr. Leforge. Thanks so much. Kelly Dietrick duesdealer@gmail.com
  8. Absolutely agreed. I like to help the uninitiated of the car world when I can though. You just need patience and a sense of humor. The film is set in the 70's and the reason they asked for a four door is because they went to use the car to drive four people down a controlled length of road at most half a mile. So this would entail someone else driving your car. It is not a prop like it was when we did a music video. Which was by the way a success:) While the car drives down the road they will film the interior scenes and use a padded rig to do this. It fits over the passenger doors to do this. When we did the music video shoot my client brought his Jaguar E-Type and his daughter and she loved every minute of it.
  9. May I ask what the car is - just in case they could use it? They told me they were looking for a muscle car at first and I told them you won't find many four door muscle cars.
  10. Not selling but if you can lend your 70's car film makers will do video and photos for you. Please see the post in the General forum. Thanks!
  11. I know it is short notice but some film makers from Philadelphia have asked if I can help them find a car like the ones attached for a short film they are doing. Location is Williamstown NJ. Needed for January 23rd from 11:30 to 1pm and on the 24th from 11:15 to 12:15. They can consolidate the shoot to one day if that works better. In exchange for your time they will come to your house or other location and do a professional shoot of your car (would be good if you are selling or just want nice photos etc.), a walk around video and a video taken from a drone. And I will give you a free tour of the Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum next time you are in Philly. Email me at duesdealer@gmail.com Thanks, Kelly Dietrick
  12. Who needs Google when I've got you guys LOL Thank you. I saw the car and that grill was driving me crazy. Now I know what car it is attached to. Thanks! Have a great Holiday. Kelly
  13. Happy Holidays Everyone! Can anyone identify this car just from this picture?
  14. According to the La Sagrera factory in Barcelona, the Hispano chassis 8101 was produced there in 1929; the car test was conducted in April 1929. At the beginning of the 80s Hispano chassis 8101 was found by Mr. Emilio Fernández Arias at the Madrid School of Agricultural Engineers workshops. It lacked a body, but the chassis and mechanical components were in perfect condition because it had been restored by its current owner, Mr. Enrique Jiménez Girón. Mr. Emilio Fernández purchased the car from Mr. Jiménez and completed the restoration and a new body, built from factory blueprints, was installed. The body was made as a replica of an original T49 with extreme care to keep all production methods used in the factory at that period. The chassis and the engine are matching numbers and original to the car. It was featured in the Spanish film Belle Epoque. Located in Spain. 15. Success! We found our cars. A 1965 Jaguar OTS and a wonderful 1965 Mustang Convertible that is coming all the way down from Lancaster.
  16. Is anyone available to make their classic car a video star? I received this request today from Molly Rupert who is heading this project. In exchange Molly can offer a modest sum as payment or do a professional shoot of your car complete with video and drone footage. This is a shoot for a former Voice contestant that is putting out a new song. They are looking for classics from the 50's, 60's and maybe early 70's. It will be a West Side Story theme with lots of dancing so if you have kids they might enjoy the outing. I know it is short notice but who is not looking for a little distraction these days? It will be fun. From Molly: I’m reaching out about using your vehicle for a music video shoot my production crew and I are doing Friday (tomorrow) night. We're looking for a classic car to rent for this shoot. It is at the Fillmore private parking lot in Fishtown, Philadelphia. This scene would be from 9pm - 12am (at longest). The music video is for a former contestant on The Voice who is local to Philadelphia and releasing a new song. The car would be at one location in Philadelphia from 8:30pm-12 roughly. The car would only be on the set and would not be driven by anyone. If you're available to meet us at the location with it and stay on set (or pick it up afterwards). This scene is very West Side Story - Jets vs Sharks. So we are looking for 2 cars, one for each group of dancers to perform in front of. This is very much a blend of modern music and dance while tipping our hats to the past. The exact year is not a make or break by any means! I'd be more than willing to take any beauty photos or videos of their cars for them at a later date. Drone footage, video, photos, etc. We can cover whatever beauty or detail shots they would want.. Let me know if you can help. You can reach me at duesdealer@gmail.com or reach Molly at mollysrupert@gmail.com.
  17. I realize that this is a mostly American Antique car forum (the first indication being the forum's name) but I am putting out the word on the search for a BMW 503 Cabriolet just in case someone knows someone that might know someone.. We are looking for a car located in the states and mechanically sound. Sound enough to run in events like the Colorado Grand. Exterior should be an 8 minimum. I am not looking for a car that is already on the market. Thanks for any help anyone might be able to provide.
  18. Are you guys kidding me? I've been advertising it on the site for months :)!
  19. Yes sir. I actually found a guy to do the inspection.
  20. I would like to have a 1950 Lincoln Cosmopolitan Limo inspected in Fort Worth Texas for a client. Any ideas or takers? Thanks, Kelly Dietrick
  21. I posted a car on Craigslist a few days ago and got this response: I want to buy the car and i will be paying in cash. However, I'd really want to inspect history report before i come to check it out. I'd really appreciate if you can get it from cardetailcheck.com because I'd like to repay you if we cut a deal, and they're a lot cheaper than carfax or something else. If everything comes out clean on the report we will set up a meeting and I am getting the car. When the "buyer" would not produce any contact information I Googled the site he was pushing and found this FCC Warning: A scam aimed at car sellers Scammers are relentless. I have had to remove a Jaguar XKE off of Ebay UK three times so far where it was posted for 25,000.00 stg. Great deal for a $200,000.00 car. This articles goes into detail on the scam: Almost fell for a scam
  22. Thanks Paul. I will give them a try. And Trimcar - my library just opened again I will look it up. I love those kinds of stories. John Steinbeck wrote Travels with Charley: In Search of America. Charely was his dog though - not his wife:)
