While AAA is not even close to what it used to be .. there are worse. On the other hand check out your regular insurance company - State Farm offers a towing addon for almost nothing and it includes an hour of free labor if they can fix it on the road. So far my two experiences with them have been great...

True, I used to be assigned to Boston 2 or 3 months most years working for the Federal government and hated it, especially taxi drivers., Then I spent 6 months in Puerto Rico -probably 2/3rds San Juan and 1/3 in the mountains. I went directly from there to Boston and never had a problem cutting off cabbies again. No driver is braver than a Federal employee in a rental car.

Sometimes you do get what you pay for. Compare the cost savings between the CCCC covers and any alternative cheaper ocvers vs the cost of rust repair/repaint. How long did the CCCC covers you currently have last? How much extra is it per year for a known quality ? How much of a riak taker are you?

The confusion here is that according to the Motors manual Dodge offered the standard transmission both with or without fluid drive in the 1954 model year. If it has the fluid drive convertor then 10W is correct. Search this forum for "fluid drive" and you will find several lengthy threads with a wealth of information.

As Rusty noted above, if it is a true standard transmission it does not take 10w oii - that is only for use in the fluid drive and other semi-automatic transmissions (not to be confused with the powerflite transmission). Your description of the way it shifts could be due to someone else installing 10W oil instead of the 80/90 weight noted. Please do a little more research before just arbitrarily adding 10W. I've owned few early 50's Mopars but it was 50 years ago, give or take a little.

If it gets to the point where there is no easy answer pay the locksmith to come to your house (or wherever the car is ) and cut a new key by hand filing - it doesn't take long to do if they know what they are doing.

in 1961 I bought this Model "A" Ford for $100. We took it to one of the local AACA club meets (GVACS) and a fellow who had a Model "A" Phaeton and Roadster - both fully restored, offered me $75 for the Sportlight 9yes, sold it on the spot). Not sure what originals are worth today. A few years later he lost both cars to a garage fire - do not use gasoline to clean parts when using a space heater.

One more time - the only time I have experienced a similar problem (drastic loss of power under load) it was a condenser, and since new condensers have been known to be bad right out of the box, if it was mine I would get another new condenser. Just my two cents - sorry for the repeat.

Did you change out the easy to change ( and cheap) condenser yet?

The misalignment of the door trim shown could indicate accident or corrosion damage - not a good sign.

Thanks so much for posting. I spent summers in Vermont with my grandparents and this brought back memories of life in simpler times. Change has not been kind to Vermont unfortunately - it's hard to recognize my old haunts.

Add another for Firefox (or chrome), or both. I have both on my IMac and find myself using them a lot more than Safari. They take very little time to download and are pretty intuitive.

In the "probably not" category make certain the gas cap vent isn't clogged just for kicks - doesn't sound like the right symptoms but ....

1991 Chevrolet S-10 Blazer. I am the second owner - ziebarted when new. Previous owner used it only for family vacations and changed oil and filter every year and waxed it thoroughly every fall (including door jamb and the back of the pinch welds - glass smooth)..just turned 50,000 miles .
