  1. Bob’s Automobilia has them.
  2. Restoration Specialties. Ask for Jeff.
  3. Can one of you provide details on this jet hot coating? Its supplier? is it something one can do at home? TIA. Tom
  4. I saw in our local newspaper obit section that Mac Blair has passed on. It specifically mentioned his especial fondness for Buicks and 1932 Buicks in particular. I did not realize how accomplished he was. Sorry to be the bearer of sad news. Tom McClellan Blair | Obituary | The Tribune Democrat (tribdem.com)
  5. Use your preferred OCR ( optical character reader) that should provide/produce a .csv ( comma separated value) file. That can be converted to excel file. you will have to examine the formatting. It’ll likely be a good bit of work. There are apps that can create and convert .pdf files to excel - that is another option. good luck. It can be done. The amount of time and effort is the unknown.
  6. Depending upon elevation ( of your location or garage) what is the proper decrease in vacuum for each say 1000 ft in elevation ( from sea level). Or is this insensitive to elevation?
  7. I’ll have to check but 1931series 60 cores were 2 1/4. The early 80 and 90s were 2 3/4 but mid year went to 3”. How do you know it’s a 60? 60s and the 80/90s surface was the same 466.5 sq in.
  8. How thick is the core? 2 3/4 or 3?
  9. Each are good. Maybe mechanical a bit better than hydraulic - of the era. Early hydraulics had a single cylinder. Failure of the single master - well, no brakes at all versus say not-so-good mechanicals. If my choice are poor versus none, choice.
  10. The picture of your car and its side mount lock is different for 32. I’m familiar with the 31. There were two different type locks in 31. the lock did not hold the wheel in place it simply locked it. The ‘holding’ of the wheel was that rod then a tire bracket and nut. those side mount locks are difficult to find. It was an option. There are four parts on the lock. The lock body itself, a a hex screw that holds the body to the lock fender saddle, a rather large cylinder button and a ‘tongue’ bolt thst held the button and was ‘released’ by the lock. good Luck on the restoration. Lots of fun. Beautiful car.
  11. I’d love to carefully examine the car for differences and similarities. Here is one from the second photo: carriage lights are fender mounted. US didn’t do that until ‘32. ( I went back and looked)
  12. As much as I try, the PA fender headlamps just dont do it - always been that way. Early 50s US cars generally same things. European though - I generally like. Early 60s - just about everything. late 70s and 80s - very little. It is kind of similar to music - As much as I try to understand/appreciate jazz infusion - it just sounds like noise no matter how many times I listen. I have realized that appealing and unappealing cars are like porn - I know it when I see them but I cant put a finger on just why - a least usually.
  13. Today's modern paints are a base-clear configuration. for tiny clips, how or what is the optimal procedure for touching up those places? So getting a proper touch up bottle of the base coat.... what are folks doing for clear? or not? thanks, Tom
  14. What are folks using ( concentration) for your tour and show cars. Antiques and or classics that are garaged during the winter months - especially anything above say Mason-Dixon line? Really in all climes. Thanks in advance. Tom
  15. ironically, just worked on the filler neck of my 1929 75. the mascot was a key point. Can you send some dimensions? and I will measure my stuff. Diameter, width and length of the tangs, etc.
  16. What is the proper way to store ( long term) inner tubes? Tom
  17. Bob, That car is fanatastic. Is the rear mirror actually curved? or is that a photographic artifact? Any idea or info or photos of what the seat covers looked like? that's really interesting. AND three different kinds of tire locks? Thank you. Tom
  18. What options were offered on Buicks in this period - especially the 90 series. I'd like to know the manufacturer and then the dealer options. Is there a list? and if so, when was it released? Tom
  19. Cadmium coating on fasteners and parts ---- there are two 'colors' a yellowish and a silverish. How do you determine which is correct? especially in judging? TIA, Tom
  20. On a restoration, I removed the modern core radiator and am replacing to original. The new style is in good shape and maybe some day I may want to use it, or ?? who knows. anyway, I want to properly store this radiator. What are the things to do to assure the part remains as good in the future as it is now? Thanks in advance, Tom
  21. Reading another post.... just curious.... if red paint is most expensive, what color is least?
  22. Is 13 still available? if so, can you tell me size? thank you. tom
  23. Steve, foremost, I am proud to say and be member of AACA. weekend or three-day tours. To better address working and families. The off set is that traveling distances for a short tour will impact numbers. 5 day tours are nice. perhaps have a general group of experts who can be contacted to obtain guidance on restoration - like BCA. This likely will be challenging. AACA seems to be more ‘show’ and less tour. This likely is unfair as one is more visible. There needs to be - imo - a very strong(er) emphasis on touring/driving. all organizations -ALL - have a pre-disposed nod to the very few members who have the assets to contribute most. There needs to be ‘faster turn-over’ or term-limits on senior positions. There needs to be a portion of the board that are clearly ‘rank and file’ -again, the organization does a good job. The perception is what needs to be addressed ( current president is a great example of what club needs more of.) the recent car event where all were invited ( was unable due to previous commitment attend) - need to have more. there are many cars I will never own - or drive. An event where - for a fee- one could drive some - would be great. Not talking driving an F1 at track speeds but being able to drive one - a brass car, model T, CCCA, sports car, etc. have a return to driving fun- I.e. balancing egg on spoon - like was formerly done in very early AACA days. Etc. shutting up. Getting back into truck.
  24. LOL. Larry, you make me smile!
