  1. I grew up using and hearing the term Power Plant , as in “what kind of power plant do you have under there?”
  2. Looks to be Essex 4. I’ll confirm later
  3. Rear quarter is late series 1926 or 27 hudson / Essex for sure. The single belt line tells us that. no real way to determine which one it is. I honestly don’t know if the Essex rear quarter windows rolled down. what’s the diameter of the break drum on the dif ??
  4. On the 7p the cowl is shorter. The notch in the belt line at the door isn’t there and the front door is more forward than the 4p. The 7p has a much longer rear tub that hangs out almost to the rear of the frame horns. Wheel base is the same on both models. You’ll rarely ever see a trunk on a 7p for lack of room to mount.
  5. Very nice, folks will want to know shaft size.
  6. Pic from above of the dash of the OP car search shows a late 20’s Essex dash panel and header. The gauge bezel is 28 Essex/ Hudson with other gauges. it’s likely the cowl Essex modified. Jonathan, you should reach out to Jon37 on this site. He is an ambassador to the Hudson Essex Terraplane club and is on all the related forms and club events. He can put the word out and possible help you find your family’s car. good luck. paul
  7. A great story you have. I hope you do find it. It may help in your quest to know that the radiator, lights, front fenders, hood and possibly the cowl ( can’t tell for sure because of the side mounts ) cowl trim and side lights are 1929 Essex. chances of the hole car once started it’s life as such. You say you have a photo of the engine. Can you post that ?
  8. You got a few Maytag washing machine motors I see.
  9. Your quite correct. They are mechanical, I’m stumbling to come up with a reason for my earlier reply. 🤔
  10. We’ll judging by the fact that some one put a ballast resister on the distributor, I’d say someone put a 12 bolt battery in it. so the temp gauge could be fried , hence the Moto meter. lots of things wrong with that car.
  11. You should reply start your own post and not hijack the OP thread.
  12. Bottom set looks Essexish
  13. I’m curious, how many boxes does it take hold a 29 cad ?
  14. You should also instal a shut off cock at the base of the vacuum tank. This stops the fuel leaking threw the seat in your carb. It came from the factory with a shut off. Hard to tell from the photos but it looks like it was left out. a very nice car by the way.
  15. Maybe those of us that need your marvels live outside the USA like myself. but I can see your reasons for not wanting to ship outside your country.
  16. Car would be wider. Likely used on a drill press or literally anything that used a two pulleys or more
  17. This one’s been around on the net for a while. At least 6 months or longer. It looks to be in nice shape. But no sale.
  18. FYI, the one you show a photo of is a 29. in 28 the carb was 180deg the other direction with the air cleaner facing the fire wall. 28 & 29 do not interchange very easily. The good news for you is that in 28 most of the carbs were made from brass. Not muck Metal like in 29. finding a hole set up will be very very challenging.
