  4. Yes this is the PD some 3" longer in the front end with a 112 wheelbase? , I have found out today that the mascot is also included. This is too good to chop although each to their own. My thoughts are the same as your regarding its worth to me personally apart from I think it may cost a little more to restore in the UK. I am able to cope with the machanics and tin work but paint over here is pricey, 2k minimum for a bare metal respay, but time will tell at the wkend, the seller knows where to go so I can talk that one thru. Watch this space.

  6. Ment to say it also comes with the original master parts list with pictures and a copy of the owners handbook. Just found this photo which shows 87384 miles which may not be correct but could be a guide

I will have photos next wkend 19/20th and as far as I know the glass is the only major parts that is not there, things like the twin horns, door furniture, window winder especially the rear window mechanism are all there, radiator core and chrome shell which is good, headlights with glass and mountings, seats have been retrimmed, full instrument panel, loom rewired. Not sure if the rad cap is there or not and the rear lights are thought to be wrong but may have been standard in the export pack sent to SA. back in 1933. My intention would be to restore to a good standard and run for 10yrs or so then depending on how it stands up to the British climate either pass down thru the family or sell on. These are all I have to go on at present.
  10. Hi gents, I am about to view the above that is basically a rolling chassis with a running engine and gearbox, the prop has been removed to ease movement. My understanding is that it comes with a full set of parts with the exception of:- missing sidemount covers, door cards, wood is there on the headlining but no fabric or vinyl, glass is missing and it requires a 10" steel plate welding under the rumble seat. Apart from a few dents or dings the body is sound as are the fenders and hood. Almost all of its life it was based in South Africa and not shipped to the UK until 2002 where it has been dry stored for the last 10 yrs. Here's the difficult part, I know nothing of the Plymouth brand or what should be there and is not, bit of a no brainer I know, but with pension funds the way they are now, could this be a worthwhile project for the future or just another money pit? What are your thoughts.

    From Marmon Heritage figures for 1927/1929 are a bit vague, I am of the opinion that because the Fedco System was adopted for 1927 production hard copies of records may not have been kept??. M/H states that 29,000 cars were produced in 29, page 235 states Roosevelt production at 25,089 Sedans 20,000 Coupes 2,500 Victorias 1,500 Convertibles 1,000 Marmons Sedans 3,309 Coupes 652 Victorias 171 Convertibles 211 Following these figures on page 404 it states that 22,323 were registered in 29 with a total manufactured quanity of 29,219 but there is no reference that I can find giving a figure for individual models and styles. Hope it gives a little helps to answer your question, I'm sure kaycee will be along with his usual helping hand.

    While talking numbers is it known how the Hayes body numbers work. Recently I looked at a 78 Coupe with the No. 93-136, am I right in thinking that would have been the 136th body of the 93 style?

Thanks for your kind thoughts, certainly was a wild goose chase, the annoying thing is that the body would restore relatively easily, its almost 97% solid but if left for long as it is in the building its in, deterioration in the UK elements will soon take hold. To try and collect whats not there would be a mountain perhaps impossible to climb, but it would be a dream to one day own a piece of American history of that style. In all fairness to the guys that have handled the car in recent months its all to do with the supply train and they will buy and sell what they can to make money on regardless, its what they do, sell their own grandmothers to make a buck. All I can ask you guys to do is keep an ear to the ground and if you hear of something too far gone for economic restoration but in the same style, remember TomP and send me a message.   16. Just to update you guys I viewed the Marmon and surprise surprise it was the car that Lee Holman sold on Ebay early last year. Here's the link to the local news cutting. 1929 Marmon roadster set to take journey from Sedalia to the U.K. | span, style, font - Top Story - Sedalia Democrat Funny how prices change, what started out at around $1300 is now $6400 in the UK and all that's Marmon is a body and a chassis with springs. The straight eight engine has already been sold.
  17. Hi kaycee. Thanks for the info. Purchased the first interchange before seeing your second post :eek: hopefully the seller will swap it over for me. I have set-up world wide search on Ebay but don't get the leads your getting without doing a manual search?? Yes it is good news about the car, just having problems sorting out when to see it as their is a third party I want to come with me. I'm 160 miles from it and he's 240 miles and our working patterns are totally different. Maybe a couple of weeks before we can get together which will give me time to get the literature together. I'm told its a 78 as the front wings fenders have curved detail at the front edge. Thanks again.

  20. Still no news regarding viewing, selling does not appear on the sellers list of priorities. Regarding 'Heritage' still waiting for US seller to advice shipping cost to UK. Just a waiting game.

  22. Sorry folk, the viewing did not happen, will have to reschedule once the seller gets back to me, he has assured me that he does have a Marmon for sale. Looking on the bright side I have just won the Marmon Heritage at what I think is a good price, not sure what shipping will be but thats life. Thanks for looking.
