  1. Shocks are as removed, dirty, no idea if the seals are good but I have been told that normally anymore you pump them with grease which doesnt leak out like the oil that was used. One rear shock has a dig on the cover from a grinding wheel (accidentally hit it when cutting the rear brake lines) but it is cosmetic only. $150 for all 4 plus shipping, Syracuse is 4+ hours away. Check mapquest to zip 12538.

  2. Up for sale is a rolling chassis from a 1941 Buick Century 4 door fastback, frame is straight and rot free, front suspension parts all look good and are not rotted. Rear end is complete, torque tube and rear trailing arms are cut. $200 complete, hope someone can use it before it gets cut up for scrap. Pick up in NY zip 12538. I included a picture of the car when it was complete so you can see the body style. You can reach me directly at drptop70ss AT aol.com

Also the front fenders and hood are available for $150 each, front and rear bumpers (cores) with brackets $50 each.

  3. Greetings,

Picked up a 1941 desoto businessmans coupe today, car is very rough but I want to try and save it. There is a trim tag on the passengers side firewall and I see another oval shaped metal tag on the drivers side firewall. Are any of these numbers the body serial number that I can use to get a registration? (no title for this car in NY, just a registration)

If none of these are the location where would I find the number?

    Thanks

  4. Greetings,

I just dragged home a 47 cadillac special fleetwood, car sat outside for over 30 years and is in bad shape. I am going to try and do something with it but need to get a title for it. Where is the vin tag located? I found the trim tag under the hood but have no idea where the vin tag is. Thanks!

  5. Well, back the other way again..didnt even open the electric conversion and found a rebuilt vacuum wiper motor for $40. For that price I couldnt pass it up, and I installed it tonight. Vacuum wipers working great! Much faster moving than I expected. So the electric conversion is getting sent back, these should be fine as I dont expect to be in the rain much if at all. I tried getting my original motor to work but so far it barely moves.

  6. I can do that, not a problem. The unit comes with the 2 speed switch, the delay option is extra and I did not purchase that. I like that the switch goes in the stock location, but I will see if I can get my original knob to go onto their switch so it looks original. I do not have the factory radio (no radio at all right now) so I should not have any issues with fitment or clearances.

  7. Well I punted..I want to mess with the vacuum motor but need working wipers ASAP, so figuring $100 for a rebuilt motor that still may not work great or $200 for a Newport conversion I ordered the Newport. I know I could adapt something and make it work if I had the time, but trying to get the car on the road within a few weeks.

I will take my vacuum motor apart and see if I can revive it, if not it can stay on the shelf for future rebuilding. Nice thing is I do not believe any mods are needed to install the Newport unit.

  8. Quick update, freed up the wiper drives and they are moving nicely now. Wiper motor arm moves freely, and when moving it I can get it to blow out air, but so far no workie. I hooked it up to full time vacuum on my carb and no luck, I will try manifold vacuum next. If this does not work are all 37-38 wiper motors the same?

  9. Thank you, so the switch is more of a poteniometer than an on/off switch? Since this has sat so long, is there anything I could spray into the vacuum hookup on the motor to lubricate it before trying it? Or would it have to be disassembled for lubrication?

  10. Greetings, I am to the point on my 37 Buick of trying to get the wipers to work. This car has sat for many years and I have no idea if anything works. Does anyone have a vacuum diagram for the wipers? The original steel vacuum line that ran through the firewall was already removed so I do not know where to connect the replacement. Vacuum wiper motor is still there. Also how does the wiper switch work? Are vacuum wipers single speed or two speed? I have never worked with them before but would like to try and get them going. Thanks!

  11. already did but seemed to only find ones for chevy? I dont mind making minor mods but overall do not want to do anything that cannot be undone. Do you know the stock bulb numbers, maybe I can cross reference to 12v?

These are the ones I found for chevy headlights no idea what would fit the running light housings yet.

  12. Greetings!

I have taken on a 37 buick project car that was left for dead, horrible condition but I am trying to bring it back to life. I have not been able to find a pair of 37 buick headlights or fender mounted running lights for it but I did find both from a 1938 to use. Because of the poor condition of the car and wiring I am converting to 12v but would like to not modify the headlight or running light assembliesif possible. Are there 12v bulbs that will fit into the 38 headlight buckets and running light housings without modifications?
