  1. Hi Shahar Quick drying black gloss enamel for brush or spray painting mixed with 10% thinners. It went on well and looks good. Not as good as dismantling the chassis and blasting and professional painting or stove enamelling, but that was not an option. This car had been completely rebuilt mechanically and painted 20 years ago, and it was mainly dust and light surface rust caused by poor storage conditions.
  2. I want to get the wheels right off my 1928 Std 6 for cleaning. I have not done this before so I checked in my 1928 Reference book. Plenty of instructions on how to remove the tyres, but not the whole wheel. I presume I remove the hubcaps, and is there a nut inside then? What size spanners/wrenches do I need for the cap & nut please? Are they all right hand thread? Do I need a wheel puller??
  3. Big step ahead with my 1928 Buick restoration. 3.1/2 hours scraping & rubbing & painting have transformed my Buick project. More photos here- 00. Latest update – new paint | 1928buick . . . .
  4. Not yet Colin, I can get Rodney the Electrician in to check the electrics, now we have lights and a kettle.
  5. Thanks Barney. I am really enjoying owning my Buick. Buick owners all over the world are reading this forum and my Buick blog and contacting me with offers of help and encouragement. My good friends & helpers are Ken, Little Phil, Dave, Roy, Magic Brian, and wife Lynn is even getting involved! Amazing! Photos of my Buick in its new home.
  6. We moved my Buick to a new location, now I have electricity and lighting. And I have daily access and a nice working enviroment to progress a bit with the car. Click here to look at the videos please- 00. Latest Update – moving day | 1928buick
  7. With many thanks to Colin. Santa came early, I now have a RHD accelerator pedal.
  8. I just love these old photos. These were above the bar in a pub in Margate. I stood on a stool to photograph the photographs. A couple more here - http://1928buick.wordpress.com/wonderful-photo/
  9. Thanks Terry. They look like mine. Great Colin. Will ring you later.
  10. And this looks like it matches the other pedals. So is this my UK style accelerator pedal? Phil
  11. Thanks Josef, I hadn't noticed that. It seems that UK built pedals were different. This picture is from the 1928 UK sales catalogue. Anyone recognise these shape pedals from a different year or GM make?
  12. Thanks Leif 208307 is what I need then, any offers please? http://1928buick.wordpress.com/s-pedalling-furiously/ Phil
  13. Leif sent me a photo of his left hand drive and it looks different.
  14. Tom in Australia kindly sent pictures of his Buick and this is the RHD accelerator assembly. Is the LHD the same please?
  15. I have now fitted the brake & clutch pedals and I am happy with them, but I do not appear to have any of the parts for the accelerator and its linkage. Any one got a RHD 1928 with the body off, that they could photograph these parts please? Anyone breaking a RHD 1928 please?
  16. The 1928 Buick manuals I have all show left hand drive cars, even the English Models version I have. Did Buick produce RHD manuals? I am particularly looking for a good picture or diagram for the foot pedals and linkages on my 1928 RHD Std 6.
  17. The foot pedals and linkages on my 1928 Std 6 project came loose in a box. I have found a lubrication chart which shows some of the cross shafts, but for LHD cars. Did Buick print anything similar for RHD please?
  18. This is a better photo of a RHD Std 6 with the correct spark plug cover I need. Phil
  19. I keep writing a bit more about my Buick, and the blog thingy has had nearly 4000 hits now. Have a look please. http://1928buick.wordpress.com/p-elmstone-court/ Phil Haywood <!-- end of AOLMsgPart_1_31aeca46-3cbe-4933-a9cf-291417435029 --><STYLE>.AOLWebSuite .AOLPicturesFullSizeLink { height: 1px; width: 1px; overflow: hidden; } .AOLWebSuite a {color:blue; text-decoration: underline; cursor: pointer} .AOLWebSuite a.hsSig {cursor: default}</STYLE><LINK rel=stylesheet type=text/css href="http://o.aolcdn.com/cdn.webmail.aol.com/34554/css/microformat.css">
  20. Hi, anyone got a 1928 Std 6 spark plug cover for sale please? (Think the photo might be Master series, but you get the idea.) http://1928buick.wordpress.com/
  21. Thanks Blackstar I will get measure & get back to you. Phil
  22. Thanks everyone, great forum!! Leif sent me the parts list and I think these are missing from my float bowl- M-168-4 metering pin link M-84-44 metering pin jet M-173-519 metering pin assembly I think M-84-44 metering pin jet is still in the carb, but I suppose a new one would be a good idea. Thanks Leif Thanks Jon- looks like the screws in the spacer block have been there 83 years and are not likely to come out any day soon, and heat and drilling will just cause more damage. I might try a careful light sand where it is. Thanks Mark. I would like to try the Rochester option if I can find one. Phil
