    Emblem

Thanks Keiser31. I've googled the Oldsmobile emblem. Winged spur and acorns. Now I know. Good to see I did not have it upside down.

    Emblem

I can across this emblem while cleaning out a box of car parts today. Sure looks familiar but I can't place it. Honestly can't tell which side is up on it so forgive me if photo is upside down.
  5. great catch. They got me. Now I see the other license plates.
  6. What is this, or was this? Reminds me of a Yugo. Not sure how you would get in it but hopefully there is a door on the passenger side.
  7. thanks all. This weekend I plan to great the linkages.
  8. Thanks all for your replies. 61polara, as luck would have it my car got caught in the rain today. I was thrilled when the wipers quickly sweep across the windshield and also thought the dry drag was perhaps the issues but that notion was shortly lived because next time I turned them, and it was still raining, they struggled to move. NTX5467, I was thinking the same as what you stated concerning linkage. Without a doubt all pivot points are dry so I will lube them in a few days. Too cold and wet currently.
  9. I used a very thin weight silicone oil. I was not going to try brake fluid because of paint concerns.
  10. I have a 1950s type Trico vacuum motor on my car that I can't seem to get to operate my wipers. One or two sweeps per minute is all it will do. I read up on the oiling of the motor yesterday, pulled it out and oiled it. It's actually a new (perhaps NOS) motor that has no use. The unit operates smoothly and there is 20" pounds of vacuum on the hose at idle. What I learned tonight is the motor and linkage operate perfectly back and forth on the car, but when I put the arms and blades on, the wiper motor can't seem to overcome the drag across the windshield. New vacuum assist fuel pump is also installed. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Doug
  11. In the Checker Motors Corp world many owners hope the Tucker movie fame will someday do the same for them. Increase their value. 60 years of taxi manufacturing and most models have no survivors yet many people think they still roam the streets of NYC. As a fan of both Trabants and Checkers I think the Trabi will be the next Tucker before the Checker is.
  12. This collection is a dream come true for an British car lover. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2630564/Vroom-view-Dentist-cars-keeps-enormous-warehouses-selling-450-classic-vehicles-100-MILLION.html I love this photo. Doug
  13. To elaborate more on title and registration. Title is a document showing owner of vehicle and is issued by the state. Registration, typically annual, shows you are current with taxes, and fees. The registration is issued by state, or county. Some states provide you with a sticker that shows current year registration and must be posted in windshield, or on rear license plate, dependent on state.
  14. Alright oldcar, you have prompted me to talk about my Daimler. No not the Germany car like most people here in USA think. Mine is a Daimler Majestic Major limo. DR-450. I've been restoring it for about 15 months now. Somewhat challenging since parts, photos, and information on it is limited. I go to ebay in UK and Australia daily but even there it's almost impossible to find much. I'm not complaining because if I was looking for anything plentiful I would have gone with something along the lines of a 69 Camaro. No offense to any readers. For me the rarer the car the better. I do wonder how many of these cars still exist in the world. I know of 1 other in the USA. Australia has a few. Sadly most were scrapped because of the cost to restore or upkeep. Doug
  15. I happened to be looking for a vent window seal today and came across these images. I never would have guessed these parts were for the vent window.
  16. When I bought my 1968 Daimler last year it came with a box of Daimler parts. Most I were able to identify where they went but I have 2 of these detent type pieces that I cannot figure out where they go. Measures about 2 inches in length. I have learned with this car that most parts seem to be same style as Jaguar parts so perhaps this looks familiar to someone. Doug
  17. I saw this post and photos the other day on my tablet and thought I would log back in from my desktop and get a better look at your beautiful car. Photos and write up on your car are gone. Either way welcome. Car looked great from what I saw. Always loved the FX4. You previously stated yours is petro? Rare but that is what I would want. Doug
  18. Salt Lake Chrome Plating does pot metal.
  19. I have my switch pitch hooked to the brake pedal. When pedal is pushed the converter uses the higher stall.
  20. I received my British license plate in the mail yesterday from Triple C motors. It is beautiful. I'm still not done admiring it. Thanks again Dave.
  21. Thanks Dave, I went to site you recommended and then called Triple C. Very helpful and actually steered me to the cheaper product. I just ordered it. Doug
  22. I would like to recreate the tag (license plate) on a 1968 British (London) car. The car came with the black aluminum front license plate (about 4-3/4" x 20-1/2") but the characters are all gone. I do know the registration number but was unable to find a site that sold letters and numbers. The chap I communicate with in England tell me his two 1960 letters and numbers are made of plastic and riveted on the plate. Doesn't matter to me the composition of the letters. Either way I can't seem to find them. Any suggestions? Doug
  23. I have a 1960s Daimler with rear disc brakes and am in need of a rotor, or two. HELP! Most of the Daimler parts cross to Jaguar but I've had no luck with this disc. The part number is 136208 (vbm.3650). The measurements are: Diameter 300mm (12"), 12 mm think (not vented), and the odd feature is the inner hub hole of a very large 144 mm (4.5"). See attached photo. I certainly have broken my share of parts over the years but this one falls on the axle shop that pressed the Salisbury axle out of the hub. NOT MY FAULT this time. Any idea what this fits? I'm confident it is used on another car. I hope.
  24. Hey Phil, Thanks for informative feedback. That photo looks like the exact set I bought. I love the color coded pieces. I struggle with the tap and die sets to see if it's course or fine. It's not my age, I swear , who could possible ever see that fine of print. PS, how do I get the keyboard carriage return to work on this forum? My keyboard works fine except on this site. Doug
