  1. There is 1 Checker model A known to still exist. You either love it or hate it. I love it. It's a beauty that I would love to own.
  2. Sorry, What I was saying is Checker used the Oldsmobile Diesel in the early 80s.
  3. From the factory Checker never had a Detroit diesel. In the 1960's Checker used Perkins diesels, and Oldsmobile in the 80s.
  4. Hi and welcome to the forum. I sent you a message. Doug
  5. Here you go Wayne. https://americaswebradio.com/cassic-car-show/
  6. I know Jim well. He liked my Facebook post earlier today on the Barrett Jackson Auction, where I will soon post some AACA cars that where there.
  7. That lines up well with what I thought. What's the former Checker employees name? I know a few of them.
  8. Chuck, my 1958 Checker is Studebaker and my 1972 is a stock GM Saginaw. 1966 I'm unsure but what part are you looking for? I can ask around.
  9. I've always loved the Checker model A although I can see why some would hate it. Only 1 is known to remain.
  10. Jon, I've spoken to the owner (Vic Owens) several times (different number). He claims it's a junk yard. Could indeed be both. When I googled it I discovered several business names.
  11. Thanks John, I was just reading up on that and the rod adjustment for the governor.
  12. Thank you John, it's interesting that my Jaguar Transmission Service Manual has the exact same photos and band adjustment procedure with the tool yet omits the procedure without the tool. Snug then back off 4 turns. Sounds easy enough. Thanks again.
  13. I have a Jaguar Service Manual that I have read cover to cover (more or less) but did not see the procedure. I would gladly try the instructions you mention and would appreciate a pic of it. Thanks.
  14. Just registered. Thanks. I also thought about the Jaguar forum.
  15. Bob, I just tried the number you provided for Bill Sawrey. My caller ID shows it is the correct number for Bill but it has been disconnected. I will do some googling tomorrow. Thanks
  16. I'm reaching out to Studebaker, Jaguar, and other owners of the Borg Warner Detroit Gear 250 or 200 transmission for the automatic transmission DG band adjuster tool. This is a Kent-Moore J-4285 DG Band Adjusting Tool. I cannot find one to buy so I'm looking to loan one. It appears to be a simple tool so I'll return it the day after it arrives.
  17. Thanks Peter, I've updated it. That was simple but I swear I tried it before and couldn't find the Signature area.
  18. I hate to have to ask for help with something I have done before and should be able to do again but I cannot find how or where to update/edit my AACA Forum signature box. I've looked and looked. Thanks
  19. I wasn't sure the subject to put this under but based on the owners info there is a junkyard of sort near Owensburg Indiana. Exact address is 9322 E State Road 58, Owensburg, IN 47453. I did look on Google earth and there does seem to be a large collection of older cars. Do any of you live near this yard? They have a rare 1967 Daimler DR-450 limo I'd love to find out about. Owners says it's solid but that is always a matter of opinion. The tag under the hood provides some of the info needed such as Chassis number and Engine number but the owner seems elderly and immobile perhaps.
  20. Chevy certainly did not build Checkers. Checker manufactured more parts in house than any of the big 3. As previously mentioned the drivetrain came from GM and in the 60s they stated using GM brake systems, moving away from Studebaker. Checker made Chevrolet sheet metal, and in the end (1990s) Cadillac frames. My 1984 Monte Carlo fenders are Checker manufactured. FYI, the photo above is from Eyes on Design in Michigan.
