  1. Brahms - "For those that want to make a smooth exit"
  2. You might be thinking of Highwayman with Waylon, Kris K., Willie and Johnny Cash "A place called Boulder on the wild Colorado" Another forgotten one is "Key to the Highway" by Led Zeppelin on Zepp III album. A little to obscure to enjoy on the road though. Save it for a 70's bar crawl However, Mark Knoplfers "Long Highway" is an epic listen on a cool desert night when it's just you and the road at 2 am. *John Denver Country Roads deserves a place in this thread*
  3. So true. Don't forget to add, shoestring budget vs very deep pockets. I'd love to get into the big trucks, but financially it's a completely different ballgame. Those that save the big trucks are to be commended for their passion and extreme dedication that few have.
  4. Gorgeous truck! Production totals on the C20 4x4 must be pretty low, especially in black.
  5. Wish he had better close ups of the grill and hubcaps. Although a very slow and rough truck, I doubt we'll ever see another more complete example of a 1930 1 ton in our lifetime. Only the radiator cap and horn ring are missing from what I can tell.
  6. Wow, see kids, that proves you should stay in school and never post at 3 am pre coffee.
  7. Interesting to think what the cost for that same trip had it been done today. At 2342 miles (San Diego to Detroit scenario) fuel alone would be around $12k. My guess is at the time it would have been closer to $1000-$1500. I bet you'd still do it all over again though.
  8. Great photo! Steve, is it something recently received at the AACA Library or can you shed any light on it's history like size and where you found it? Timeless photos are priceless.
  9. Probably one of the most underrated highway songs ever is Heartland by U2 "Sixty Six, the highway speaks"... Best version in my opinion. Shows how four Irishmen fell in love with our land
  10. Never leave the house on a road trip without it.
  11. Any idea what the production totals were on those? Just hoping some survived
  12. Clearly a sad time when some of these agents/auctioneers were profitting off of farmers down on their luck but the body style is very interesting as I don't recall seeing many Dodge sedan deliveries. Would you guys suggest this is a 1933 DP?
  13. Try and offer to buy just the letters from this guy for a price that may make it worth it for him to ship them to you? Never know, he may be willing to sell just the parts you need, doesn't hurt to ask. Disclaimer, no affiliation with seller and unsure if the post is still live (not familiar how Kijiji works). 1972 Fargo Pickup Hood | Auto Body Parts | Saskatoon | Kijiji As for the lifetime ban, "hall cops gone wild 20.22 version" is enlightening to say the least . It's obvious a ban is a joke because their are ways around it but anything to stroke those egos I suppose... I'd like to see Steve make it mandatory that they take meditation and yoga classes followed by how to deal with your emotions classes. Some of them need medicated, I'm convinced of it. Either medication or work in the real world for a year to bring em down a notch. Blanket party shouldn't be out of the question, I'll provide the quilts, we're gonna need quite a few. Good luck finding the letters, I hope you post an update if you find some. Cool idea
  14. What about a set that is interchangeable that would plug into the holes you have? May have to weld new studs that would work but you could include DeSoto and Plymouth to your repertoire.
  15. The pump was patented June 27th 1911 if that helps narrow it down EJECTING-CONTAINER. - NEW YORK & NEW JERSEY LUBRICANT COMPANY (freepatentsonline.com)
  16. A ton of money in the building and maintenence alone I'm sure, I do like the fact they drive and race them and have them that clean, I'd have great respect for them too. I'm surprised no one likes the COPO. It's weird for me because I don't even like Camaros or the color green but that car is amazing. Would love to drive it once to see how it drives.

  18. Sold mostly to the LGBT crowd. Something you need to share with us, Rich (Sorry, you knew someone immature like myself would hit that softball)

Generic after market for the era, used on many cars, could have been included in tire kits originally but I wouln't know which makes.

Seriously though, it looks like a Dreadnaught made by Automotive Specialties out of St Joseph MI (I really do need one for my truck if it's a No 951). Does it have anything like that on the side in raised letters? IF so, then there are probably many different makes and models that used it in their tool kit.
  21. I believe that's actually a 66. It was my first car so whenever I see one I go right to the tail lights to make sure. You can barely catch a glimpse of the side tail light. 67 the lights didn't wrap around. Great shot!
  22. Nice. Actually a good trivia question for enthusiasts. So that is how the Tonneau cover came about. I'll be darned
