  1. Now it appears to be sold. I see your point. It is a '55 Bumper
  2. If your speedometer looks like this you're going too fast
  3. Hooray!! I think you're right. It's like a dialing combination lock to get each one started =-D
  4. The book has color chips that are the exterior colors. But, no reference for the painted areas of the interior. (my hunch is, the same paint and and paint names were used that closely match the color of the seats and bolsters) In the book, there are swatches of the 'cordaveen ' (vinyl), nylon, and leather (for convertibles) There is a cross reference of the interior codes with the material swatches' codes. Although the color does closely match, that particular pattern in your car does not appear in my book. I agree that that pattern is from a later year than '55. I agree. I would bet that, the lower dash (including the door sills below the engine turn) were all originally painted the lighter Nile green (the color on your heater controls and speaker grill). And also my bet, the upper dash and sills (upper sills for the front doors) were originally painted the darker spruce green. Probably for the sake of convenience, the repaint was all done one color. (leaving the painted chrome pieces with the original paint, as most painters don't want to paint chrome) Dad got this book some 35 years ago. I've seen one other since then. You're most welcome. I'm very happy to share as much information from it as anyone wants or needs. Edit: We sent to SMS our interior code. SMS sent several swatches for us to confirm the order. Three of the swatches were the exact match for our car. The swatches that did not match our car, did however have exact matches with other swatches from the book. I was most impressed with SMS's quality and color . And ten years later I am still impressed with the quality.
  5. Taking another look at your photo, I see now what you are saying, On your car, it seems the steering wheel color matches more closely to the heater controls and speaker grill.
  6. Here's photos of my dash. (the lower dash has been repainted. The steering column is original paint, the heater controls and speaker grill are original paint) Years ago the white was the same. See how much difference there is now;
  7. Please excuse the pictre quality. These are from my black berry with a 1/4" lense. These colors are exterior colors. I believe they corespond ththe interior colors as well (they do for my car) Upper is Nile Green.. ..Lower is spruce green
  8. The painted chrome on my interior has a different hue than the rest of the lower dash. I believe time has changed the color of the paint over the chrome.
  9. I've seen photos of my car's twin in Oregon. Also, I've seen photos of two four doors with the same paint scheme. I think I remember seeing your car in an ad. Did your car come from around Montgomery, Alabama?
  10. Paul, I have something that might help you . My problem is my camera is broken. But by Saturday I should have some photos to post. Please stand by............
  11. That might ease some pain...........
  12. The Color is BFF Dover White Colonial Blue Colonial Blue (colonial Blue is a spring '55 offering not found on '55 paint charts the name was changed in '56 to cadet blue) Repaint of the factory colors. The interior is a mix of original (original seat backs and headliner) and reproduction by SMS [seat covers are SMS] (I Highly recommend SMS) The trunk was re-upholstered with a non-Roadmaster fabric thirty years ago. The window sills and the trim around the windshield has been chromed and a dress up kit of chrome valve covers and spark plug covers (all were painted from the factory)
  13. Ten years ago I had both bumpers replated at Graves in Florence Alabama for $3,000 . I delivered and picked them up. The chrome is holding up very well after ten years. I highly recommend Graves Plating.
  14. I had hard starting as you describe. Adjusting the timing and a GOOD new battery fixed my woes. If mine sits for more than a few days, a squirt of ether (NAPA ether with top cylinder lube) gets it to start on the first try. Good advice, all the earlier posts. Especially not running the starter motor for too long. Also be sure the carb is getting plenty of fuel. A starving carb can cause a backfire. A backfire with the starter engaged can cause catastrophic engine damage (a backfire is why I have a sleeved cylinder).
  15. I do not disagree. I would point out however that rarity does not always equate to value. I had a co-worker, who bought a used Pontiac Aztec. He regularly bragged about the Aztec's rarity.
