  1. Sorry to get this thread off topic, but just Googled that color and couldn't get a sample - what's it look like?
  2. This will be a great looking car in almost any original Pontiac color. I would go with a lighter original color - I have a black '39 Buick Business Coupe that would look better in a lighter color. However, since it was originally black I am leaving it black. Congrats, John V.
  3. Pete, I think this is correct: Dave Tacheny 763-427-3460 Good Luck, John V.
  4. If you're looking for the rubber mats, Bob's has them: Running Board Mats 1939 S.40 RM-39. If you're looking for the trim moulding, I don't know if Chevy mouldings will do, but worth checking these out: Chevs of the 40s: 593392 39^ - Chevrolet%20Running Board Moulding -Stainless (Includes Clips). Good Luck
  5. Keith, It looks like you have about perfected the process! That is a fine looking steering wheel - suspect your order bin is going to fill up quickly. I am still really happy with the knobs you did for my '39 Buick. Congrats, John V.
  6. It became a mid-engine model...
  7. RH, I think your '38 looks great in the photos, well done! We will be tracking your progress, so keep the posts and photos coming and enjoy the drive time. John V. '39 Model 46
  8. Andy, thanks for sharing the super photos! Looks like it was a really fun event and you will have great memories of the day with these photos. So neat that there are many shots of the car as well as all the wedding party and attendees that will enhance the memories. Thanks again, John
  9. Well, where are the wedding photos of the happy couple in the '40 Special?
  10. Think of the gears as being in an "H" pattern - for left hand drive cars: reverse is at top left, first at bottom left, neutral in the middle, second at top right and third at bottom right. Good luck!
  11. This video clip is priceless. Notice at the very end when she steps on a little red towel to get into the car so she won't dirty the running board, then picks it up and puts it in the car so she can use it when she gets out!
  12. For Sale: Left side headlight lens. Wording at top of lens says: TOP LEFT and at the bottom says: MULTIBEAM HEADLAMP GUIDE PAT'D MADE IN USA PAT. PEND. Lens measures 7 3/8 inches top to bottom and 7 1/2 inches side to side. There are no numbers on the lens, and I assume it is for a mid '30's car. Very good used condition. $25+ shipping. Send me a PM if interested with your zip code and I will quote shipping. Thanks, John<!-- google_ad_section_end --> <FIELDSET class=fieldset><LEGEND>Attached Thumbnails</LEGEND> </FIELDSET>
  13. Here is a good brochure picture of the emblem on the rear deck of '39- same colors as on the front emblem which I haven't found a good picture of in a brochure.
  14. That would be a YES on the beer, and even better if it is consumed while talking about old Buicks!
  15. In this '39 brochure the SPECIAL is in red...! In the '38 brochure it looks black.
  16. Interesting, my '39 Buick coupe was built in Flint in late May 1939 and first sold in Denver, CO on June 24, 1939. Stayed in Denver till October 1971 when it was purchased by a man in Albuquerque, N.M. who owned the Buick until I purchased it from him in August, 2010. I have contacted Colorado DMV trying to trace exact ownership but they tell me the automobile title records prior to September 28, 2004 were purged and cannot be duplicated. I have the names of at least two owners prior to the man I purchased the Buick from, both in Denver, CO. So, there seem to be multiple Colorado connections with old Buicks. John V.
  17. Brian, I am an AACA member but not a BCA member. I have a 1939 Buick and check the AACA General and Buick Forums here daily, and sometimes several times a day. John V.
  18. Skyking, you and I were thinking the same thing!!
  19. Excuse me, just checking for peanuts!
  20. Frank, I found a source for reproduction knobs amongst the AACA members that you really need to check out if you cannot locate knobs for your car. His business is named Knobsoup, and his name is Keith Lee. I had an excellent experience and can heartily recommend his work, he is an artist. You can contact Keith at <knobsoup@gmail.com> for a brochure. I had a reproduction window winder from Bob's with a chrome knob that I sent to Keith along with a good winder so he could make a mold and match the color, and he reproduced the knob and installed it on the winder. He also made knobs for my radio, headlight switch and heater doors. John V.
  21. Thanks Martin - after I posted this I did have some luck at a Firestone location. I asked if they could do the alignment and they said their program didn't go back that far. I asked if they could input the data if I had the angles and measurements (from shop manual) and they said YES! Now just need to get their senior operator back in town on Wednesday. John
  22. Does anyone know of somewhere in Dallas, TX to get the front end aligned on a 1939 Buick? Then, any idea what the work might cost? Have called a number of places to no avail - apparently their laser equipment won't work on old cars and no one wants do take it on manually. Thanks, John

    new guy

Welcome Wayne, good to have you on the Forum. Looking forward to hearing from you when restoration and technical issues come up. I don't have a rod, but my '39 coupe needs attention from time to time. John V.
