    1939 buick

Robby, Welcome to the Forum, always nice to have another '39 Buick owner on board! Everyone here likes to be of help when they have information to share on any problems you encounter, so keep checking in and post photos so we can see your new treasure.

Jim, welcome to the party - we have a great time here and there are so many on the forum with knowledge to share. Hope you have as much fun getting to know your "new" car as I have mine over the past 3 years. If it weren't for these guys and posts on the forum, I would not have even attempted some of the things I have been able to do myself. Hope to see you on here often and look forward to seeing more photos as you go along!
  3. My '39 Special Business Coupe also has the compartment. The trunk has never been restored, so I am pretty sure it is original. I keep jumper cables, jack, tow strap, air pump and other "essentials" in there.

  5. On my '39 the sensor plugs into the block at the rear of the engine above the #8 plug. The plug cover has a small bend or access crimp in the upper left corner (similar to the area the plug wires exit the cover, but much smaller) to allow the sensor tube to exit and it then goes through the firewall. Don't know that the '36 is the same, but suspect it is similar. Good luck!
  6. Hollander Interchange Manual does not show any interchange (even with series 80), so must be one year only.
  7. Here is another site that is very good for older cars and makes that aren't around anymore : Classic Car Database, Specifications, Dealers, Parts and Services for Antique Cars, Classic Cars, Vintage Cars and Muscle Cars
  8. Maybe we need to arrange a "group session" with someone, I have this problem too!
  9. How much has the price come down, and are there more photos and information about what the car needs?
  10. My security software blocked this link when I opened it - said it was infected!
  11. That is a sweet sound and I know you are as proud as a new father - congratulations!
  12. I knew my speedometer was wrong, so I downloaded the GPS Speed mobile app on my phone to check it. Appears the speedometer is showing 45 mph when I am really going 40 by GPS. Haven't tried going faster yet to see if it gets further apart at greater speed - suspect it does though. Will be driving to North Texas Buick Club meeting on Saturday, so should have a chance to get going faster on the toll road.
  13. My brother was in town over the 4th weekend and we took the '39 Buick to Cars & Coffee Saturday morning. He had never seen the Coupe except in photos, so let him drive the 15 miles home - he really enjoyed it! There were well over 200 cars at the Cars & Coffee - saw some of everything.
  14. Welcome Bob, always great to have another member on the '39 Buick Team! Look forward to hearing from you on the forum and I hope you post lots of photos.
  15. Here is a video of Buick babes worth a few minutes! Takes a minute to load and run a commercial. Buick Babes by audie1 - Car Videos on StreetFire
  16. 2carb40, glad to have you on the forum. Lots of Buick knowledge hanging around here if you ever need to seek help - I certainly have learned a lot! We need to see more shots of that pretty '39 coupe.
  17. If you Google "Fulton Sun Shield" there is a link to installation instructions. Barney sent me his photos and measurements and with this set of instructions I was able to get mine installed with no problems. Good Luck, and post some photos when finished.
  18. c49er, thanks for the info - I did not have a key. As it turned out he returned from the hospital prior to the storm and we got his car secured. Was in a hotel parking lot while on an AACA tour. Thanks again,
  19. Am trying to put the top up on someone else's '41 Chrysler before thunder storm gets here. Anyone know where the control for the top is, and will I need the ignition key to get the top up? Thanks.
  20. CDN224, if you Google "Old Car Manual Project", their web site has links to Fisher Body manuals in pdf that will show you how to do a bunch of body maintenance. Good luck with your project.
  21. Between the legality issue (which I never considered) and the cost, think I will forego the avgas idea. Thanks for the advice and thoughts.
