  1. Hi Ben, being married to a clock collector, over the past 50+ years I have changed a lot of clocks - twice a year.
  2. Yep, but sure wish we would pick one plan and stop having to switch back and forth.
  3. Okay, good to know. I will shave a bit off the template if it looks too tight tomorrow when I go to the garage. Thanks, John.
  4. Took the glass out without removing the frame, part of the rear edge broke off. Enough left to make a template.
  5. I removed the passenger side vent window that was delaminating and had been replace by the previous owner with something from the scrap yard. Questions are: 1. Best source for replacement glass? 2. Standard color of glass in '39? It almost looks light grey but might be clear. Thanks for any insights, John V.
  6. Well, don’t know how to convince you, but there is no number on this lens. I know the lenses on my ‘39 have numbers that I have seen, so I am not unfamiliar with what to look for. The only reason I have this lens is it was on my car when I purchased it. I could see it was different than the right side lens. I found the numbers for correct lenses on the Forum, and confirmed the right side lens was correct. I was able to locate a correctly numbered left side lens and thus put this one for sale. Regards, John V.
  7. Sorry Matt, but there is no 6 digit number anywhere on this lens. There is a very small 33 on the bottom left flat edge, but that does not match up to any part numbers I am aware of.
  8. James, I still have the lens - here are a couple of photos. If this is what you want, I will weigh the box and get shipping costs from the PO today.
  9. Jameslwalker, this post is from 2012, I will have to check to see if lens is still available. I will search for it later today and let yo know. John
  10. Have you checked the fuel tank cap for any blockage that would cause the tank to build up a vacuum, reducing fuel flow on hard acceleration?
  11. Here is a shot of the Cars parts - I will check the car today to see which set I need.
  12. Will order some parts and see how it works out - thanks for your thoughts.
  13. the door does drop a little when opened, and the vertical gap is wider at the bottom on the latch side. I have adjusted the strike guide, so it does square up better when closed. Have tried adjusting the top hinge but haven't had any luck getting it to improve. Thought about just slipping the pin up and inserting a washer to adjust, but saw that there are bushings available at Cars, as are replacement pins, which sounded better to me. John
  14. The driver side door on my ‘39 coupe drags on the sill plate. I am thinking about using a bushing under the lower hinge to raise it a little. Anyone have another possible fix for this issue? Thank you for any suggestions.
  15. l use this gear oil in my ‘39, it really helps slow down the gears and the grinding is much less frequent. Shifting slowly was a plus.
  16. ‘39 coupes have two supports, not sure if they were the same for those years or not. If I get to the garage where my car and manuals are, I will look up the part numbers to see.
  17. Thanks for posting, I forgot to tally up 2021 mileage. Starting mileage on 12/28/20 was 102,041, and ending mileage on 12/31/21 was 104,478. Total was 2,457, so not bad for having so many things cancelled due to Covid. Have 184 so far in 2022, and hope to better last year total.
  18. AACA meeting today in Palmer, TX, about 34 members present. There were several vintage cars there, but more modern ones. Here are photos of the older ones.
  19. Drove it on errands, filled it up with gas, drove it some more - about 25 miles! Now it is ready for Sunday's AACA meeting in Palmer, TX, about a 90 mile round trip.
  20. Took about a 30 minute drive this afternoon and the phone charger worked fine. Only charged up about 15 points, but that tells me it will work fine on our tour. Appreciate the comments confirming this would work. Thank you, John
  21. Thank you, the Buick is negative ground, so I will check the lighter socket output and then check that of my modern cars’ socket to see if we are still in business. Thanks again, John V.
  22. Have converted our ‘39 Buick to 12 volt, wondering if charging cell phone from cigarette lighter will be a problem. Don’t want to experiment and start a fire, but going on 5 day tour and could sure use a charger for cell phone and GPS. Anyone have experience? Thanks, John V.
  23. Hi Ben, we will be going on the AACA Central Division Tour in Broken Arrow. Will be too far East of you stop by, but appreciate the offer. Should get to see some more of Rte 66, since the tour is further East than what we saw while at the Buick Nationals a few years ago. Hope you are staying busy and logging some happy miles in the ‘50 Buick!
