  1. The only way I could replace the switch was to remove the door trim, rear glass run channel and the door lock module assembly. It is in a difficult spot for me to work. This is one of those jobs that the more nimble you are the better.
  2. I really appreciate this post. I used this information and got the display on entry working on my 1988 Reatta. I disconnected the passenger side door handle switch at the harness connector inside the door and the system began working properly off the drivers door switch. The passenger side switch shows continuity all the time regardless of door handle position. The diagnostics in the Service Manual does not list this as a possible cause for no display on entry. The actual problem is in the passenger door handle switch, attached wiring or its mounting. Having changed these switches before, for now I will just leave it disconnected. A big thank you to drtidmore for taking the time to share this information.
  3. I hope it is OK to ask this question here. I know some of you are very familiar with electronics. This Motorola Vibrasonic model KM202R was in a box of old radios I bought. I would like to use it in on my old Apache truck. It has 7 wires in total. One is black and heavier than the others and comes out of the case alone. I think that must be power. It has a pair of brown wires and a pair of gray wires coming out of another hole in the case together. By the gauge I think those must be front and rear speaker wires. On the other side of the unit is a pair of heavier wires one is green the other black. Would those hook one each to the speaker output wire for front and rear speaker at the radio ? I don't know how to post a picture, so I hope this explanation is somewhat clear. It has a on/off switch and a front/ rear fader switch on the front. It has brackets that attach it to the dash, apparently that is how it grounds. Thank you for any assistance, Frank
  4. I just wanted to thank Reattatude for the excellent DVD set ! To other forum members, I don't think you could find this much Reatta background information in one place anywhere else. The price is incredible for what you get ! As was stated earlier, this is a "must have" for the Reatta owner.
  5. My penlight only has one white washer installed over the end of the bulb prior to installation into the housing. Am I missing a second white washer ? If so, where does it go in the assembly.
  6. I ordered an accumulator from Amazon June 6, 2012 and recieved it June 11, 2012. It does have a white "made in Germany" sticker.
  7. Thanks to all for the quick and helpful replies. The 4 ohm speakers are much easier to find than the 10 ohms ones. WWS944, the explanation about the amount of bass from the rear speakers, and why was really interesting. I always get excellent help here, this is a great forum !
  8. I need to replace the rear speakers in my 1990 Reatta coupe. I don't understand electronics at all, so I would like to ask if using rear speakers that are four ohm resistance will ruin the stock radio. Thank you

    tapedeck repair

Thank you very much. I too will use some epoxy to make the loop solid. The splits in mine are so even and in the same plane that they look as though they were made that way..I sure appreciate the help !

    tapedeck repair

I sure appreciate this conversation on the 88-89 tape player ! I have three of them and all any of them will do is click. I just took one apart using the information on Ronnie's site and the 89reattajim post. I am looking at the white plastic piece shown in the picture and both sides of mine have a perfect split in the loop area. Is that area supposed to be solid or does it have a split in the loop by design ? Thank you,
  11. I changed the radio in my 1990 Reatta today with one that I pulled from a 90 Riv at the junkyard. At key up, the radio read "loc". I am familiar with the procedure to unlock the newer car radios, but didn't know the 1990 cars had the ability to do the loc. I did a google search and found an old post by Barney saying that if you hooked up the radio with the battery connected you may be able to unlock it by disconnecting the battery. I did and the radio plays fine now. I post this just as information in case other newer owners like me run into this situation. Thank you Barney, you really helped me out again. Between the postings on this forum and Ronnie's website I have been able to keep my Reattas going. Thanks a million to all who contribute!!
  12. I do not see any numbers on the connector body attached to the module or the harness connector that plugs into it. After further study of the 89 on-line service manual I have been able to determine what wire is what by using the CPS schematic cell 16 of the electrical section. The light blue is the grd that goes to term d7 at the CPS. On the schematic that terminal is called 4. Looking at the terminals that is the left-most terminal. Next to that is the black wire (3 on the schematic) and that is the 7v source which is attached to term d16 at the CPS. That leaves the white wire that needs to be attached to the data link. Thanks to everyone for your help. I also have a 90 Reatta and will check into that compass mirror installation for that one.
  13. After reading through this post and others I found, I'm still not clear on which terminal on the 1989 Riv compass module is which. Rawja calls them out as 1-4 but I can't find any numbers on the connector. I got the 89 Riv compass connector also. It has three wires, light blue, black and white in that order looking at the connector and starting on the left. Can anyone tell me which wire is 7v, 7v grd and the data line? I'm attempting to install this in my 89 Reatta. Thank you,
