  4. A very high end restoration on this beautiful 1946 Ford Super Deluxe Convertible produced an AACA Senior Award and a Dearborn Award. Yes, this car looks this immaculate in person, mechanically sound in every way, drives excellent, smooth and silent. This Car’s History · Only two owners over the last 60 years. In 1960, Judge Wilbur Spenser Johnson of Genesco, IL bought it as a used car on April 14th, 1960. He owned it for 37 years. In 1988, he had a frame off restoration carried out. The result was this incredibly detailed convertible, done so well it won both a AACA Senior and Dearborn in 1989. He drove it on many Texas AACA tours, and won multiple divisional first place awards. · 0n April 17, 1997, Dan Crofts of Irving, Texas acquired the car. In 2000, Dan rebuilt the engine, clutch and transmission, and did a full repaint · And now this year I acquired the car out of Dan’s estate. Below you will find all the details and extra bonus items included with the sale. Exterior The convertible’s sheet metal is excellent, and full repaint was done using Centari 99A. Receipts from the repaint are included. The paint is a deep black mirror, devoid of orange peel or flaws. I applied the 3M Perfect-It paint buffing system, followed by a buttering with some fresh carnuba wax. I would rate it at a 9.9 out of 10. All the chrome and stainless is correct and exceptional, the doors close with weight and authority, the trunk and hood fit correctly and are painted smooth on the undersides. All glass and frames are excellent, with proper Safety bug etchings, the StayFast top is tight and clean. The Firestone tires have tons of tread on them, working Guide spotlight with Westinghouse lens. (the passenger side spotlight is removed, but is included). The undercarriage is clean and well sorted, the underside of the fenders are black painted smooth. Even the useless passenger side mirror is there! Bonus Extras Included with the car is a substantial haul of documentation, literature and parts. Copies of the past two titles going back to 1960, a very large folder of receipts, diagrams, photos, and hand written notes documenting the initial restoration, the very interesting communications between the Judge and Dan when the car was changing hands, and the subsequent engine, clutch and transmission redo, as wall as the repaint receipts. Also included are: · Original 1946 Illinois license plate · TX historic vehicle license plate · 1945 CA plate with correct ’46 orange tag · (2) Original 46 operator’s manual · Original 1946 service manual, and a reproduction service manual · Original body parts manual · Original 50 years of Ford progress Golden Jubilee poster · Original 1946 Ford sales brochure · (2) Original 1946 Ford advertisement out of life magazine · Original 1946 Ford poster from Diers motors · Original 1946 Ford and mercury colors chip samples sheet · Original radio Adjust-A-Matic owners manual and warranty registration card and red caution tag, 10 more books, the 3 trophies and framed AACA award · A Ford Script battery · A trunk full of extra parts · Custom car cover · Proper jack set Mechanics Professionally rebuilt and restored, this ’46 starts right up, idles right, and is a super smooth cruiser. When driving, even with the top down you can barely hear it running. The rebuilt 59AB flathead is strong and reliable. No clutch chatter or transmission grinding. Steering, suspension and brakes are spot on. Has an electric fuel pump for carb priming, electric fan installed, although I don’t need it in our coastal climate, and best of all, amazingly it is bone dry – no leaks. My favorite part of the entire car is the Three on the Tree… The electric-hydro power top works perfectly. The frames are highly detailed and fold down into the well as they should. No cramming and pushing on it, or lopsided motions. And the matching boot snaps in place easily. Interior Correct red and cloth interior that is in mint condition and comfortable. Has radio, clock and heater, odd that this year there was no trip odometer… Other Please call with any questions you may have. I want to be fair on the price and see this amazing Ford go to a great new home. (831) 238-8235 for calls/texts. E-mail: fullscalemodels@yahoo.com $52,500 OBO

  9. Just got a ‘46 Convert...nice looking car, needs a few tweaks. Largest issue is the convertible top is not working. Any insights or past threads on getting it to work well in both directions? With the top 3 latches undone, and manually “helping it” about 2-3 inches, when I push the lever to lower it back, nothing happens. When I pull the lever, it does close that small few inch distance. So there is a small sign of life...any starting point guidance appreciated
