  1. I am helping clean up and organize items that a friend had accumulated over the years. He passed away last winter from cancer and I am helping the family prep things for an auction that will be next spring. This gas tank was sitting on top of an old tractor in the shed with nothing else Buick related around the place. What year/s used this type of tank with this script? I figured it was early teens, but not sure on the span of years it would have been used. Any help is truly appreciated. Thanks.
  2. Well, what are the chances of finding a Salsbury engine for a scooter? I have a friend that has a scooter but the engine has missing parts. The engine is in a "Basket Case" form and he has no idea what he is looking for. I am also a novice in this realm. So, what do I need for info on being able to help narrow down the search for him? How many variations were made? How long were they made? I realize that this is a brand that isn't talked about a whole bunch. (not near as common as a Cushman) I appreciate any input and insight in helping him on this. Thanks
  3. This For Sale add is for a new old stock light bar from Signal Stat. It would look great on the top of the cab of an old truck or on the back of the bed of a vintage truck outfit. This is a new unit and had never been bolted / screwed to any sort of mount. The light covers are plastic. I am asking $30 for the light bar and that includes shipping in the lower 48. I am located in Ne Iowa. If you have any questions please feel free to ask. Thanks for looking.
  4. I have this grouping for sale. It consists of two Autolite Tech Talk publications from Dec of 1970 and Feb 1971. A Ford Times booklet from Aug 1979. A Harrah's Collection booklet from @ 1980 and a Powers Auto Museum booklet from @ 1970. There is also a Cadillac parts supply catalog thrown in from1993. I am asking $25 for these and that includes shipping in the lower 48. I am located in NE Iowa. If you have any questions let me know. Thanks for looking.
  5. What I have for sale is a grouping of rosters from the AACA from 1952 thru 1991. There are 11 total in this grouping. Yes, there are years missing to span that many years. But, the ones that are in the photo are the ones for sale. I would like $50 in all and that includes shipping in the lower 48. outside the lower 48 would be a little more. I am located in NE Iowa. I figure these should go to someone that can use these and maybe fill out some collection of theirs. Let me know if you have nay questions. Thanks for looking.
  6. In 2014 there were two CASE touring cars that sold on an auction and they brought $50,000 and $55,000 respectively. Here is a link to the sale results. Now they were fixed up. But there is a pretty strong collector following on that car because of the brand. It crosses over to the tractor collecting world. http://bid.aumannauctions.com/view-auctions/catalog/id/3455/. There is a fellow I know of looking for a Case car in southern Minnesota named Don Livingston. He deals with tractor parts specializing in Case brand. Hope the best for you and your family. Kelly
  7. This is the 1908 catalog for the Black Motor Vehicles out of Chicago. The catalog does have a page that have a slight tear of 1/2 inch (page 33). And the front cover does have a slight tear in the same lower area of 1/4 inch. The binding is missing about 1 inch in the middle of it. No pencil marks that I have seen. This is a great item for the horseless carriage time frame collection. I doubt that I will ever have one in my collection, so this needs to go to that type of home. The price is $110 for the catalog, and that includes the shipping costs to your door. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks for looking. Item located in NE Iowa.

  9. This ad is for a grouping of 5 trade cards that are large enough for framing if wanted. I don't know the year of them. They fall into the 1928-30 time frame I think. The models pictured are the : 610 five passenger sedan 619 four passenger coupe 619 five passenger sedan 629 five passenger sedan 629 five passenger town sedan There is a little discoloration on the town sedan one. The price is $25 for all five of them and that includes shipping them to you. They are located in NE Iowa.
  10. I would not exclude the chance of the points being glazed new out of the box or even the condenser being bad. When they put the new points in, did they polish them up? I have found little things like that really mess guys up on magnetos. This distributor uses the same items. Just food for thought. I had a mag come in that had been through two mechanic shops before and it turned out to be that the "new" points that were put in by the first shop were bad out of the box. They would make and break contact normally with no grounding out, but would not function when testing on the test stand. I understand their frustration, as do most all old iron enthusiasts.
  11. Just for the heck of it, what type of new plug wires did they put in it? I hope that it was wire core wires. Something to think about. Most part store employees don't know the importance of this little tid bit. Look forward to seeing what you guys find out.
  12. What I have for sale is a 1954 screw back lapel pin for a Cadillac Certified Craftsman. Asking $30.00 / obo for the pin. The pin is in great shape. Crest and graphics are in fine shape. buyer to pay actual shipping. Let me know if you have any questions. Item located in NE Iowa just outside of Nashua, IA. Thanks for looking.
  13. This is the car that I was asking about a while back (maybe 40 days or so). There is many issues that are not disclosed with the ad. I looked at this car pretty well and tried to be upfront with the condition issues on here and also with them. They thought I was way low because of the rarity of the model of car. I tried to explain to her that just because the car is odd (orphan model) doesn't always mean it is valuable. The engine being cracked and needing to be welded is a big dollar factor. And who knows what else will lie underneath the interior for the wood structure. Look back on my question post to see what I posted for the issues that I noticed when looking at it. I did send the CL ad poster a e-mail asking some things but have not heard back as of yet. I really wanted to know where they cam up with the asking price.... Kelly
  14. This is a coil box out of an early Ford Model T (1912-13) the way I understand it. I have no use for it. I could buy a car for the coil box, but that would just add to my projects in the shed. I figure that this could be a nice item for those looking for an original box and coil set. I know that there are some pieces missing of the switch. I am asking $400 plus shipping for the coil box and coil set. I am located in NE Iowa outside of Plainfield, IA. I have not tested the coils for spark. They slide out of the coil box without issue. The wood is in very good shape for its age. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks for looking.

  16. Well, last night I called her to give her my offer for the car. Her initial response was "Is that all???". I tried to explain to her that just because it is a odd version of the Buick line, it doesn't mean that it is worth a whole bunch. I also tried to explain that the repair costs to make it a dependable road worthy vehicle would add up pretty fast. We will see if anything happens in the next week. If I can get it great, if not, that is okay as well. There will be other vehicles to look at in the future. I will let you know what happens down the road......
  17. I don't post much but I'm in need of some guidance on a car I saw this afternoon. I went to look at a couple of old gas engines and this car was in the same building. It is a 1930 Buick Marquette 4 door sedan. I am after info on what it might be worth. I have been looking for a good antique car survivor and this might fit the bill. Okay, her goes the descriptions / observations that I made. The body: very straight car with the only ding I saw was on the passenger side rear fender in front of the wheel (looks like they pulled into a spot and something put a dent in it about the size of a baseball about 1/4" deep). The roof is in need of attention (the trim has started to come apart from the roof and can let water in). The car has artillery style wood spoke wheels that are in good shape (the tires could use but would likely put new ones on). The interior has some condition issues on the rear drivers side area where moisture has water stained the fabric). There also has been some rodents making there way into the rear side panels and left a couple of holes in the fabric (darn mice). The foot rail in the back seat area is missing but the brackets are there for each end that mount it to the floor. The steering wheel is missing the center cap and one of the levers had been broken off many moons ago (will need to find replacements). The odometer shows just over 48,000 miles. The seats looks to be in good shape for the original fabric. The rear axle must have a pinion seal that had been leaking because there is quite a build up of greasy dirt on the rear pumpkin area. Newer exhaust (all aluminized). Fuel tank looks to be in good shape (luggage trunk was on top of the fuel cap so I couldn't take the cap off to see inside). The engine compartment looks like it needs a good going through. The hoses are original and won't make it long if ran much. The engine has a freeze crack on the drivers side along the block that will need to be repaired properly (they used JB weld or the like to try to fix it in the past). I figure if the engine would be tore down to fix the break that the engine could be overhauled at the same time (not sure what that might run yet). The exterior paint is original yet and is in quite good shape. I figure a little elbow grease and some time the exterior would look quite nice (dark blue with black fenders). Sorry, I forgot the camera and it was also facing the back of the stall, so all I would have gotten for snapshots would have been the rear end shots of the car. From that info what would you kind of guess the value would be? I would be doing much of the work myself (accept the welding of the engine block). Any help in getting a ballpark value on this car would be greatly appreciated. I want to be fair to her an also to myself. I'm used to antique engines and tractors for value. This old car has me kind of stumped. I kind of figured around $5000 to get it road ready from how it sits now. Am I low or high for the repairs by what I stated for condition? Thanks Kelly
  18. I see that a local auction company is having a farm and auto memorabilia auction this next month in NE Iowa. There is a bunch of car and truck lit from the 1930's through the 1970's on it. There is also a nice gathering of what looks like new road maps evidently from old service stations. Some of the info looks like they would be nice to add to the collection. I'm a little new to the old lit so what do you guys think of the stuff. I look forward to seeing what you guys think. Thanks http://foxauctioncompany.com
